This longstanding blues club is still as wonderful as always. We went for the show (Coco Montoya is superb!) but also enjoyed the food. Southern Fried Chicken was good- moist, crispy skin, nicely seasoned (and well-priced). The mashed potatoes and the slaw were also good; the gravy was so-so. I didn't think much of the biscuits (4 and some good honey butter), even though they are a customer favorite. The service was really good considering they were taking orders, serving, tending and clearing all during the show. The servers were not too obtrusive during the performance. The wine-by-the-glass list wasn't that interesting, but they had some traditional cocktails, and wines by the bottle were reasonably priced. The place is old, loud and funky and perfect for blues! (BTW, if the second show isn't sold out, you can stick around outside and try to get seats for the second performance at no extra cost.)

The food used to be great there, but it's gone to mediocre. Unfortunately, at the same time, the prices have gone through the roof. You used to be able to go there and have dinner, and watch a good show. But now I recommend eating somewhere else, and then going to the show. It's just too damn expensive for food that just isn't that great. The ceviche is good. But everything else was really bland. And no salt & pepper to be found!

Enjoyed listening to Live Jazz while eating catfish and southern fried chicken. Lavay Smith did her awesomeness as usual but the live band just set the mood for fun.

We snuck up to see Christone Kingfish Ingram and had a 6pm reservation. We got there at 520 because traffic from the South Bay was light. We were grateful they sat us right away, and we were able to get our meal started before the crowds arrived around 645. The show started at 7.
I wish I could give Ambiance more than 5 stars. It's the coolest place from the lighting to the seating. We were in the second row and it felt like Christone was playing just to us.
The food was very very good and we enjoyed our apps, drinks, and entrees very much. Our server (Jenna!) took very good care of us. She didn't stop by to check on us after the music started, but she'd look at us occasionally as she helped others. We could have waived her over had we wanted something. And the guy who refilled water glasses was right there to keep the glasses full. It was a more expensive evening than we usually have so it will be a special treat the next time we come up. And we definitely want to come back.

Great date night with the bf there, first time here for both of us. Great atmosphere, we only had chicken wings and those I thought were great. Got a good buzz and the blues band we saw was way more than we expected. Will be back soon!

Terrible service from one staff member. I came all the way from Canada just to be ignored. Music is way too loud which distorts it. Food is priced way too high for the tiny portions. Alcohol is over priced as well. It has potential if management made some adjustments. I read many negative reviews online around service, prices, etc....

I went to see Christone 'Kingfish' Ingram. The young man was a phenomenal talent. I don't think I've ever heard such guitar virtuosity live, and never from someone so young. I'm very happy I got a chance to experience his talent. That said, it is unfortunate that the dining experience didn't match the musical experience. The fried green tomatoes were okay. The
macaroni & cheese croquettes were tasteless, and the shrimp & grits had lumps. To finish, the bread pudding was lackluster & had been microwaved. The venue required us to order dinner, which is an unfortunate policy. If possible I would recommend that future patrons fulfill their food requirement with drinks only, although that also looked like it might disappoint. Thirteen dollars for a glass of Korbel? I realize B&B is located in an area frequented by tourists, & therefore expected a bit of 'tourist-quality'. The food isn't better because it doesn't have to be. The place is in a great location, full of foot traffic, and features great music. But as a local it is hard to accept this without surprise & disappointment, especially in a city so full of great good & drink. I frequently & gladly pay good money for SF dining. The table service at B&B was very good; our server was attentive & answered all our questions.

It’s always a treat to see the live acts at Biscuits and Blues and seeing Kingfish play was no exception. As an avid blues fan and a lover of live music, the venue is a great way to enjoy a lively evening in San Francisco. Our food was fine and our server was attentive. I try to book a ticket every time I’m in SF, even if I’m travelling alone. If you love music, and enjoy watching new talent, I highly recommend this place!

Great location not far from Union Square. Went along primarily for the live music and wasn’t disappointed, great Blues! Cost about $140 for the evening for the two of us including the mandatory cover charge of $20 per person. We did have quite a few drinks though.

Went on a Wednesday evening and was surprised how quiet it was. So in summary not the cheapest but for quality live music, was very impressed.

As long-time B&B patrons, My wife & I love the music & venue.

I HATE being told that as a couple we can't sit on the 3-tops on the booth, even tho NO ONE sat up there for the entire show. If the show has started & there are no reservations for that spot, then it should go to someone like us. We came 2 hours early and spend $$$ eating and drinking before & during the show. We would have spent more money than a trio getting the best seat in the house that comes in AFTER the show has started. BAD for loyal patrons like us who come in early and spend ALOT of money.

Intimate setting was awesome for live music! Hubs had the shrimp & grits and loved it. I had the spinach salad with shrimp added. The shrimp were tasty but there could have been more to the salad (it was just spinach, dressing and almonds) - some bacon, hard boiled egg, tomatoes...SOMETHING! Price for bottled beer (hubs had a couple Budweiser’s) seemed high even for SF. Overall nice chill spot

I've read a lot of bad comments about the food. So we went there with the intention of appetizers only. I'm surprised people hated the food so much. It's no fine dining place, but it looks like a comedy club. For that level of a venue, the food was out of the ballpark. Great for what it was. We ended up ordering multiple appetizers.

I booked online for a place to eat on Christmas Eve without looking too closely at the listing. Because of that I missed the $30 ticket (non-refundable) that you have to purchase in order to go in. I'm not super into blues, but the vibe was good and the food was fantastic. I'm a vegetarian so I got a Caesar salad (pretty basic), fried green tomatoes (good, tho still pretty basic southern fare) and biscuits to share (amazing with the honey butter). My mom got Shrimp and grits, which she said was delicious! It's very loud so bring earplugs or buy some there for $1.
Overall the food is worth it for sure, but I'd only go if you're definitely into blues and willing to pay for it! ;)

We grazed the appetizers rather than ordering a meal-- a strategy born from reading the feedback of others. To be honest we weren't there for the food but rather to see Elvin Bishop perform so our expectations were relatively low. All in all the food was good-- better than good perhaps but not "Wow!" and the service given it was a busy full house was fine. We enjoyed it and would likely return-- though for the music rather than for the meal. This is a fun date night out and a different kind of experience that really shouldn't be missed. It's NOT a tourist hangout so locals don't need to be afraid of getting Pier 39 bags waved in their face during dinner!

The music was outstanding. The food was good...lots of Southern and Lousiana dishes. My friends had the shrimp and grits, and they cleaned the plate. I had the meatloaf...it was very good. The only issues was that the tables were very close together (most of the time we were touching the people next to us, and we had no-place to put all the food on the table), and the chairs were extremely hard. We asked to be re-seated to a larger table, but were told they were holding that for a party of 5, but would let us know. Of course they seated another party of 4 there...was very disappointing.

I was looking for a venue to go to where they had live music, great food, and basically not a concert setting for my boyfriend's birthday dinner. I came across Biscuits and Blues and it looked pretty promising. We arrived 10 minutes early and was seated right away. You have the option of seating in the front, middle, or back. Either option is great because since the venue is small enough, any seat will do.

The food: We ordered the catfish appetizers, fried green tomatoes, and the biscuits. All of the food we got tasted really good, esp the biscuits. I definitely recommend getting the biscuits if you attend. The catfish was great too because it was so fishy and although I do not like goat cheese, it matched well with the fried green tomatoes. Next time I go back there, I will definitely try one of their entree dishes.

The Music: The band playing that night was awesome. I'm not into blues music, but listening to blues live gets you in the mood. They were very entertaining and kept my attention.

Overall, our experience at Biscuit and Blues was super. I would recommend going for a change of scenery and for the experience. My boyfriend and I will be going back in the future.
