First time and most likely the last. The restaurant was empty and our service was slow. The waiter forgot my husbands salad, lipstick on a water glass, sauce on the bottom of a water bottle, cold coffee and pizza that was burned on the bottom.
Friday night dinning. 7:15 PM Reservation through Opentable - seated immediately upon arrival. Food and service was excellent. The place was cozy but a little noisy. Overall - will come back again.
I really like Birroteca, it feels very cozy and the food is good. I am very impressed with their homemade pasta, and being Italian I know my pasta.
Our server was fantastic. Always love coming for a good new beer and delicious food!
There is a great selection of authentic Italian dishes. Everything we had was tasty and very well prepared. Note, the appetizer portions are generous. The wine list is small, but has sufficient variety and is relatively affordable. This is now one of my two favorite Italian restaurants in Baltimore.
I've had a love/hate relationship here so far. After going 3 times, just 1 of the times has been stellar. The others have been mediocre.
I think it comes down to seating and service in the end. The food is consistently good, the boar papardelle is one of the best pasta dishes around, and the burata is amazing.
Having sat in the lower level before, at the high tops near the bar, I can say that is the only way I have truly enjoyed it. Upstairs feels like a complete afterthought. It was bright white, light, and noisy. Sound traveled and service felt disconnected. Service on the lower level was more personal, and we had a waiter who truly knew his stuff - upstairs, again, felt like an afterthought and more like a chain restaurant you might encounter in a strip mall. Not sure if it was the lighting or the others there, but it had no where near the ambiance as the bar area.
The fact that there are pencils on the table upstairs also leads me to believe it's where they put families with kids. I know kids have to eat out, but it just felt very disconnected from below in approach and atmosphere.
Again, food is good. But, if you want to really enjoy it all, aim for the bar or high tops.
Love Birroteca! Great beer selection and wonderful pizzas! Their chopped salad is excellent! I highly recommend it!
The quality of food has gone down. Pizza was undercooked. Waiter was inattentive and didn't seem to care. Will not return.
This was a pleasant surprise. Large parking which was good but scary outside. I was about to turn around and go somewhere else. So glad I did not. The place was beautiful inside. The tables were setup elegantly. The food was soooooo good. The meatball were succulent. I can not say enough. The server was on point with all suggestion. Wish I got her name to praise her service! Very attentive to our table and it was a full restaurant. The after five drinks were delicious. Get the fig and thyme cocktail. You will love it.
Love this restaurant. It’s was a very cold night. Our pasta was cold and our table was next to the front door so every time the door opened we got a blast of cold air. Other than that it was great.
The food was decent, and the prices fair. I ordered the Pappardelle with Boar Ragu, and my friend ordered the Butternut Squash Ravioli with Sage. We shared the Bruschetta w/ Shrimp & Kale, along with a bottle of Tuscan red wine. I was impressed by the Italian Kit Kat dessert; it was a creative interpretation of a childhood favorite. We also ordered the Cinnamon Cannoli. The filling had a nice hint of cinnamon, but was incredibly runny, and just looked kind of sloppy. I looked around and noticed that many other patrons ordered the Limoncello Creme Brule ... I'm thinking I should have ordered that. Overall, it was a nice experience, but we could barely hear each other over the noise. I went with a good girlfriend of mine, but it's not some place I would take a first date if you want to enjoy conversation and get to know someone.
Lovely restaurant with delicious food and great open brick decoration! Rustic but also chic. Quick service, wonderful waiter. The bill did rack up w/ wine, appetizers, etc., but wasn't completely unreasonable
This was a great restaurant. Loved the beer selection and the increadible pizzas! We also had a wonderful server!
Great food and service. Kids meal (pizza) is perfect - a generous size cheese pizza even comes with fresh apple slices and grilled Brussels sprouts!
Fantastic food, amazing drinks, and the service was outstanding!!
Had the gnocchi and it was amazing. My wife had the butternut squash raviolis and she couldn’t stop talking about how good they were. Outstanding cocktails to go with dinner and a superb cheese and meat plate.
Went for dinner around 5:30 pm and was quite surprised how crowded the place was so relatively early on a Saturday night. It's also in a location off the beaten Baltimore path. The service - wait staff and food delivery - was very good given the crowds and our server was incredibly friendly. We took his advice and ordered what he claimed they are best known for - the Brussels sprouts and the Duck-duck-goose pizza. We were not disappointed!
A couple of mushy mussels, but not sure that’s something they can control. A different recipe for the mussels as well, so a little disappointed since the old ones were AWESOME!!
Great service and Duck Duck goose pizza is always the best, and Union Blackwing on tap! Yummmmmm
Service was outstanding- friendly, helpful, and fun. Food was exactly what we were looking for. We enjoyed the entire experience.
Our food was nice, however it was so loud it was hard to talk, our server was nice and kept the drinks flowing
Had an excellent experience! Great food and service
Birthday , waiter was very personable
Superb food with a variety of delicious appetizers; the open space area was conducive to conversation for a business meal, despite the wood floors and stone walls.
We found this place during a weekend away in baltimore. Great little find in a charming building with fantastic food. I’m so glad we ventured out from the inner harbor to visit. We will be back - may just have to schedule another overnight soon.
Very good food at fair price. The star was red shrimp pizza but we also enjoyed beet salad and cheese platter. The latter was delivered after our pizzas so they comped it. But it was so tasty we wanted to pay for it-but they insisted on taking it off the bill. Me family also enjoyed their cocktails but the highlight was our server Sebastian. He was attentive, gave menu suggestions and was very friendly. We greatly enjoyed our dining experience and we’ll be back. Sebastian also signed us up for a loyalty program for this and affiliated restaurants.
Great hang out spot! Very cozy and fun for the snow day we had. Great beers and wide selection of food that’s delicious. Also the bottomless deal was amazing and attracted any and all taste buds :)
Excellent food as always!
Vegan week food was pathetic. Mushroom bolognese tasted like it was from a can and had barely any mushrooms. The beet polenta was watery and boring. Lastly, the chocolate cake was nearly inedible, tasting purely of coconut oil. Overall, very expensive for what it was. The service was good at least, but I won’t be back.
Birroteca is a place to show D.C. friends that Baltimore is a great place to eat! We spent a lively Friday night, nestled into a corner table, sharing eggplant fries and great beer options. The puttanesca and mushroom pizzas were divine!
we love the atmosphere. The food is uneven but the things that work are great. Stick with pizza. Beer selection could be better. We were there on Valentines day, and it was busy but service was very rushed. Got our salad starters and entrees al at the same time. Friendly , lovely staff.
Food was good. Great gluten free options
Always consistently good/great food, service and drinks. Casual fun environment - love the high tops in the bar.
Regular menu items are usually very good, but I wanted to try the special things on the Vegan Restaurant week menu. Big mistake. The mushroom bolognese was way over salted, the beet and polenta dish was completely flavorless, and the vegan chocolate cake was inedible. We left disappointed and hungry, and out a hundred bucks.
Date night. First visit. Went for bourbon and food. The bourbon was wonderful. The food was delicious. Had the pork belly, meatballs, bruschetta and crispy cauliflower. Pork belly and crispy cauliflower were exceptional. Meatballs were delicious but bruschetta could have been easier to eat on thinner bread and with buffalo mozzarella instead of a ricotta-like cheese. Kit kat dessert was phenomenal. Expensive, but that was mostly due to our bar bill. Would go again.
Birroteca was hopping as early as 6 pm! We enjoyed the special vegan menu but there were also lots of vegetarian options for when that menu is not available. The food was creative and tasty.
Fantastic brunch. The poison apple cocktail wasn’t very good but the cheese platter and the salmon egg pizza and the my brunch meal was very good.
Always great food and great service
We usually have the best service at this restaurant. Unfortunately, the service on Friday night was very lacking. We waited forever for drinks, dinner, etc. They served one meal out of 4 and 20 min later, the other meals were served. Awful.
3 friends and I went to Birroteca last night and the food was pretty good, better than the last time I went a few years back. I had the roasted veggie appetizer, which was pretty good but my pizza, which says on the menu that it has 4 varieties of mushrooms only had 2 that I could see. For $21 dollars, there should have been a lot more mushrooms on that pizza. Other restaurants of similar price range provide a much better value in that regard.
During this visit, the bathrooms were terrible and clearly nobody checks them. The door to the bathroom has hardware that's falling off and makes it almost impossible to close.
The toilet paper dispenser needs to be reattached to the wall and fixed so you can actually get toilet paper.
The service was just okay. Our server took a long time to bring things to the table and we asked for bread and it never came. He seemed very nervous at the table and really unsure of himself.
One of our main courses took 6 minutes longer to arrive than the other 3 that were ordered. That was a little frustrating. He didn't seem to have control over what was going on and when asked about the last person's meal, he was dismissive rather than going to the kitchen to see what was going on.
Other than that, it was fun. The person at the door was extremely friendly and was prompt in seating us.
