My friend had come in to visit from out of town and thought we would get something casual to eat, like pizza. Our server was very appreciative of our visit, given the ongoing pandemic. He was the only shining detail of our meal. The meatball app and cauliflower side was good (the aioli was thick and heavy tho). The pizza was EXCEEDINGLY salty...I get that salumi is intrinsically salty, but the pizza and the sauce could have been adjusted for salinity; my date loved the crust, so he only ate the crust of 1/2 the pizza with the salumi picked off of it....whew
My cacio e pepe was a gray, also salty, glob of pasta noodles they was not delicious nor appealing to the eye. I cut it straight down the middle with the intent of taking half home...i had to use the butter knife it was so gelatinous...ended up only eating 1/4 of it; it was so inedible.
The chocolate covered red velvet white chocolate cheesecake and the goat cheese panna cotta was very good, as was the coffee.
Greatly disappointed. Not a great first impression for my friend.
The food is wonderful! We enjoyed the Fungi Risotto as well as the calimari which is tender and not breaded.
I went with My husband for a date night and neither of us had been there before. We both ordered cocktails and they were delicious. At first glance the prices seemed kind of pricey but once we saw how big the portions were it made sense. Everything was absolutely delicious, but the one thing we were not 100% satisfied with with our pizza. The crust was very thin and did not feel homemade an hour margarita pizza had very little cheese. Two very important pieces for pizza. Also the dessert portion did not match the dinner portions and they were not nearly as big.
Love the new menu! and thanks for always being super great to my young kids!
Brunch was delicious and the staff was great with the 2 kids at our table. Thank you!
A winner of a spot, worth checking out for sure. Go with people prepared to share.
Not as great as it has been. Service was not particularly satisfactory.
Excellent mushroom pizza, calamari and Brussels sprouts.
Steak tartare and pork belly were especially delectable - would order again (and again). Kale carrot salad was surprisingly lacking in comparison and broccoli rabe was undercooked, not bad but lacking in care and attention especially in comparison to starters.
Took out of town guests there for a unique experience at the high tops in the bar area. They thoroughly enjoyed the local beers and fab food - truly something for everyone and unique enough to be interesting.
The atmosphere is bustling , hip and stylish , noisy enough to have some energy , not too noisy to not enjoy our own company.
perfect spot, perfect evening
thank you
We had a great time. The pizza was outstanding. Actually all the food was delicious. Best of all was our server Chris. He was charming and interacted with us perfectly. Definitely recommend
Consistently great! One of our favorite restaurants in Baltimore
Amazing service and great food! Perfect for a date or nice dinner with friends. The value of sharing an appetizer, pizza and bottle of wine between two people was worth the price.
We went with friends for a date night and had an amazing experience! I’m GF and so I knew I’d have options, but there is something for everyone. We had something to eat from all sections of the menu and everyone had a great meal. The highlights were the calamari (perfectly cooked! Melt in your mouth tenderness), pork belly, and the Kit Kat dessert. Everything else (seafood pasta, pizza, Brussels, and beet salad) were wonderful as well. We will be back for sure. Birrotecca been around for a while now and for good reason!
One in our party of four has a severe nut allergy, so we talked to our waiter at length about options on the menu we could remove nuts from. Almost every dish we ordered had a caveat: without the hazelnuts, without the pistachios, etc. the roasted carrots however, came out on top of a dark (delicious) puree that appeared to be prunes and something else. Well, that something else was NUTS! Our friend had a severe reaction, and our waiter- instead of apologizing and offering our friend some sort of comp for the massive error, decided it was better to blame us for ordering something that wasn’t clear on the menu might have involved nuts. We asked him what was in the sauce, and he DID NOT KNOW. We asked him to please go to the kitchen and find out, since IF it was nuts, our friend would need to leave immediately to get his epi pen or the ER. He seemed annoyed to be asked to find out, and when he came back saying it was indeed nuts, our friend had already left to find some benadryl. So, although the food was excellent, the service was abysmal. And dangerous.
Always delicious! I get the duck duck goose pizza every time I go
Went for Valentine’s Day. Keepin mind if you select high top you sit in the bar area which is still nice. Understandable we weren’t able to switch into the main dining area as there were a bunch of reservations. They did let us chose our high top table. Wee ordered a few different things. The crispy cauliflower was so delicious as were the meatballs (pictured). We also ordered the sweet potato pizza. It want what we expects and we didn’t enjoy it. The server gladly took it off the bill. great service!
Kudos to the new Chef. We've dined at Birroteca several times in the past and have always left satisfied, but this time we were wowed by the flavors in our meal and just can't wait to go back!
Valentines Day
A good reliable restaurant. The food is always good. It was a quiet night which we liked because we both needed a place where we could talk and hear each other. Nice waitress and host.
Never had pizza with eggs, sausage gravy..it was really good! Will definitely be back
We had dinner in the upstairs dining room on a Saturday around 5 - it was quiet at first but after about an hour more guests started to arrive. Food was great- started with mussels and some dipping bread- shared the sea bass dish for 2 which was delicious. After dinner we found 2 seats in the bar and had a after dinner drink. Bar was packed but it seemed quiet and very organized- everything seemed to flow smoothly. Great time - we will be back to try other dishes we saw being served in the bar
There were only a few tables around 1:30pm. The service was terrible. The food was average
food bland, service slow - bread for pasta came after we had finished.
Delicious appetizers. Pizza was too well done, burned crust. Very noisy.
We have been to Birroteca many times over the past few years. The food is excellent and we think their brussel sprouts are the best ever (have tried them at other restaurants and always agree that Birroteca's are the best!) The chef is flexible and was able to alter one of the dishes and it was delicious. We will definitely go back.
Delicious!
Anniversary
This place is a favorite for get-togethers for my lab. We always enjoy the food and there’s enough variety that everyone gets fed. We were a little disappointed that we were placed at a high top near the bar rather than in the main dining room this time, where it was a little louder.
Great service
I went with a friend for restaurant week and we had a wonderful time. I've been to birroteca a few times before and always had good experiences, but don't always love restaurant week because it's too crowded, limited menu and wait staff tends to seem overly busy. None of those things happen this time. Food was delicious and there were large portions considering it was restaurant week.
The only negative was that the restaurant week menu was a little heavy on meatballs and sausage and more varied options could have been available.
Delicious-- came by at restaurant week and had our choice of some amazing menu options. Cocktails were outstanding, as was the food! Highly recommend.
This was our first time visiting Birroteca - we wanted to give it a try during Restaurant Week. During a week when most restaurants "skimp" on portions, our selections on the menu were substantial enough that we stuffed our faces & still had plenty leftover to take home. Great craft cocktails, pizza, mushroom risotto and brussels sprouts were all winners. Service was prompt and attentive. Look forward to the next visit! Thanks!
While I love this restaurant, the risotto was very sub-par. Wish I'd skipped the pre-fix menu.
Went for brunch. Got stuck by a loud large party out of sight. Think the server forgot about us. Had ordered the bottomless mimosas but only got one because she never came back. We went because of restaurant week but the server did not explain how it worked so we didn’t understand that the appetizer portions were shareable. The food was good and the portions were generous. We will give it another try sometime but first impression was not great.
The staff is poorly trained. The ambience is undesirable. No music and you basically have to listen to everyone's conversations, since there is no space between tables.
One of our favorite restaurants again provided another wonderful dining experience! We love the cauliflower appetizer, it’s worth the entire trip!
It was wonderful and the food was excellent!
We (my wife and I) made a reservation because of Restaurant Week. The place was busy as expected. We arrived at the appointed time and only had to wait five minutes to be seen to our table, though we entered by the bar and it took a while for us to find where the hostess stand was. Our table was upstairs which doesn't quite have the ambiance of downstairs, but it was quieter.
We ordered beers from the excellent selection. While we did make a reservation because of Restaurant Week, it was actually the main menu that we decided to order from, (though the offerings for restaurant week looked both delicious and substantial.) The calamari was fantastic. Not a single rubbery bite as can often be found when eating squid. For the main we shared the duck, family size. Spectacular! Crispy skin, tender, juicy meat, and a portion of arugula salad on the side.
I would certainly recommend to my friends and family, though I would tell them to try and be seated downstairs. Thank you for a great time!
Fantastic service, warm and cozy atmosphere, excellent food.
