Birroteca - Baltimore

Loved the vibe, the food, and our server Jason!
I was looking forward to trying Birroteca, and while my overall experience there was good, the pizza I ordered was less than impressive. I order the margarita pizza. When it came out, I could tell just by glancing at it that it had been burned to a crisp. I probably should have said something, but was on a time crunch to get to a show after dinner, so waiting for another to be made wasn't really an option. I'm not sure how nobody in the kitchen or our server noticed how overdone the pizza was - you'd think they wouldn't have served it. However, I can't totally say the food wasn't good because my friend had ordered a different pizza (spicy veg) which was really good! I think I just got a fluke and nobody is 100% perfect all the time. I still plan to go back and will just know it will be worth it to speak up if something is that burned.
Great food great service. I will definitely be back.
This is a great restaurant for casual dining with friends - or with a bunch of college students. The pizza menu is quite extensive, and one of our party required gluten free. He said the crust was amazing. The food was terrific. Recommend the Brussels sprouts. Lots of parking, which is unusual in theHamden area. Definitely try it!
We were disappointed that we could not get an EVO beer we like, Nouveau Rouge, at an EVO restaurant.
Food is very good but very expensive. Drinks are very expensive. We sat in the bar so we expected a lot of background noise and we got it.
The pizzas we had were a bit soggy in the center but tasted good. The wild boar pasta was good as was the meatball appetizer. The pasta choices were a bit plain and pricey for what they are. Service was slow.
The appetizers (burrata and beets and calamari) were very good. Things went downhill from there. We ordered meatball pizza and butternut squash agnolotti (like a ravioli). The butternut squash ravioli was bland and it was served with a bland, watery broth. It was just okay. The pizza however was a mess. It was soggy in the middle. It could not be removed from the plate on which it was served to another plate in one piece (the dough in the middle was too thin and under cooked). We brought this to the attention of our server, and she trued to convince us that their meatball pizzas were like that -- the meatballs were "too heavy" for the crust. If that is the case, then they should be taken off of the menu. When we were finished, she rudely tossed dessert menus on the table and spat out that dessert was on them if we were "dissatisfied." From her attitude, she acted as if we were complaining in order to get a free dessert. In fact, we thought that someone would want to know that the pizza being soggy. We declined the offer for dessert. We asked for the bill and she gave us the wrong bill (it was much less than our bill). We asked her for our bill and you would have thought she was doing us a favor by giving us the correct bill. The meals were pricey, especially with that level of service. We will not be returning.
They really knocked it out of the park this night.Greta’s 5 star service was the icing on the cake.Or should I say,the topping on the pizza.
I’ve probably been here at least five times,so obviously I like what Birroteca is doing. This was one of my favorite meals here,as the pizza special—a spicy veggie zza—-was fantastic. The beer menu has always been top notch, and still is.
Pizza was really good. Good service.. overall I had a great experience. I would go again!
Great evening with my Book Club. I had asked for a quiet location and we were seated in the perfect spot. Service was very attentive. We even discussed our book selection with him. The food was outstanding. Some hadn’t been to the restaurant before but are now eager to go back. Thanks very much.
Had a birthday group of ten and they were very accommodating when we needed to add an 11th. Great food, beer and vibes from our server. Would highly recommend!
Excellent, fresh menu choices and generous portions. Our server was fantastic, as well. We even liked the music playing!
I sat upstairs for the first time and found it to be much quieter! My favorite dish is the duck duck goose pizza! I am gluten free and always appreciate that I can still have such a delicious pizza! I share it with people that are not gluten free and the love it too! Good food, good wine, and a great ambience!
Food was delish! We had an early reservation and were happy to finish up before the dinner crowd arrived. Definitely get the KitKat dessert!
We have been Birroteca fans for many years, and usually the food is great but the last few times it seems like the quality is slipping. Our table was crammed between two others and we felt overcrowded. It was very hard to have a conversation. The food was average and not worth the price. The broccoli rabe on our pizza was mostly tough stalk. The pumpkin cheesecake we ordered for dessert should never have left the kitchen. It was burned on top, dry and chalky, had no crust, and had a sloppy lump of whipped cream on top. The slice was also very skinny. Aside from the unappealing plating, it was pretty inedible and was sent back. There are so many amazing places to eat in Baltimore, and Birroteca should improve their quality and not cram customers against each other if they want to remain popular.
The food is very good, expensive for what it is.
Great food, beer, service and ambiance.
Food was decent, not exceptional. The pizza is definitely not worth the expensive price tag. However, the service was amazing. Just wish the bar had a better ambiance and was more festive. Would not come here to celebrate an occasion.
Enjoyed a fun evening with family celebrating two birthdays. Waitress was attentive and the food was good but a bit on the expensive side. Will probably go elsewhere next time.
It’s always a great idea to come and treat yourself! Our best place in town! Never disappointed! Love it!
We sat at a table outside. There was a slight smell of sewage in the air. This strongly impacted my review. Next visit I will bring a sweater and sit inside in the cool air.
Outstanding experience! Our waitress was wonderful and so was the food. We were there for Dining Out For Life and appreciate their involvement with local charities. Also they were extremely accommodating for gluten free diet. Definitely will be back!
To begin with, we ordered a glass of white wine for $9 a piece. Our server poured the wine, which was supposed to be a six oz. pour. It was about a 4 oz. pour. She didn’t budge when challenged. The food was mediocre. I’ve been to Birrotececa two other times and the food was superb. Although attentive, I feel our server was relatively new, so that’s excusable...sort of, but the poor quality of food is not.
Had a great experience on Tuesday night, celebrating a friend's birthday. It had been a couple years since I had been, but I see that everything is still as I remember - fantastic. Our server Jason was very personable and gave great menu recommendations. We tried several of the seasonal specials, all of which were great. The Beets & Burrata was amazing, and I don't even normally like beets. The brown butter pasta dish and fig bruschetta were awesome. Even our veggie sides of brussel sprouts and cauliflower were amazing. Our cocktails were so refreshing and tasty. The kit kat dessert bar was the perfect finish. All in all, the night was a wonderful treat both for myself and my friend. Thank you, keep up the great experiences!
Birroteca is one of my favorite places in Baltimore, definitely a hidden gem. it's perfect for those who want to get outside of fells point and have a nice / lovely / romantic dinner. They have an excellent list of draft beers and wines and the pizza is phenomenal. Make sure to order the brussel sprouts and the different burrata cheese appetizers. Guaranteed not to disappoint.
We have been coming to Birroteca for over six years and have always had a wonderful experience until the other evening. We were meeting another couple who we haven’t seen in almost a year and brought our three year old with us. Not only was the server either pompous or overtly rude all night, as we were walking out he made a comment “I should have rented this table”. We stayed a normal amount of time for a party of five, and tipped over 20% even though he had been making snide comments all night. Want to go back but will make sure we are in different company next time.
The food was excellent, but the service was slower than normal.
I had kind of forgotten about Birroteca for about 2 years, Was organizing a team dinner and thought of them. This was a big hit with my team, food was spectacular, ambiance was electric. Not a place for a quiet date but great for a party and group. Won't take 2 years for me to go back.
Waiter was excellent. Food was great.
Nice dinner thanks
Pizza was the best I’ve ever had. Calimari was also delicious and tender. Service was attentive and friendly. Overall, an excellent dining experience!
Server was too casual; she forgot one of our orders.
We were not seated until 15 minutes after our reservation time. The hostess and wait staff seemed very confused. I saw the hostess setting a table and placing water glasses with her fingers inside the glasses. Service was very slow. The food here is good but the atmosphere is noisy and there is not enough staff given how full the dining room is.
A fun birthday celebration. None of us had been there in a while and we were not disappointed! Great service at the bar and our server was great as well. Wish I could remember names! Haha
Thank you to Lindsay et al
The waitress who served us made sure we were taken care of. The restaurant week menu options were fantastic and would definitely recommend this place to hang out with friends or family
Food was great, atmosphere was dark by the bar. Service was not impressive.
I went for brunch during restaurant week and the burrata toast was incredible however I ordered French toast and remember I told you ..,I’m there for brunch and they take it upon themselves to put honey in a dish for my French toast! When I asked them to bring me syrup they said they ran out of syrup and substituted it for honey! What??! I’m at brunch and you ran out of syrup! They did allow me to order something else but by that point I wasn’t Hungry anymore and waited 15 minutes for that meal. Needless to say won’t be back.
