The food and service were excellent. This was our first time, and it didn’t disappoint!
Father’s Day dinner.
We went to Birk's for a family dinner on Father's Day. The entrance to the restaurant was through a major construction site, but that's not the restaurant's fault and is temporary anyway, so it did not affect this review.
The ambiance was cozy, and our waiter was attentive but not obtrusive. This was our first indoor restaurant meal since the end of pandemic restrictions, so we were glad to see that all the staff members were wearing masks.
The food quality was generally good. We had a couple of appetizers and then each of us had the 8 oz. Filet Mignon, which was good but not at the same level as some specialty steakhouses (even though they cost just as much). The sides (mashed potatoes, creamed spinach) were average - the "creamed spinach" was actually sauteed spinach leaves. The desserts (creme brulee, mascarpone cheesecake) were very good.
Overall, I give it 4 stars. The total bill for 3 people including tax and tip was over $300, and I feel that a specialty steakhouse would have provided better quality food for that price.
The smoked prime rib was delicious! My husband and I enjoyed the special Father’s Day menu!
When I made the reservation I was asked if this was a special occasion. I mentioned it was my wife’s Birthday. The dinner was good but I thought there would be some kind of dessert for the Birthday dinner. We came here two years on my wife’s birthday and she got a small cake. But this time nothing.
Excellent steaks. Cooked to perfection. The service was great.
Best restaurant for 20 miles
Wonderful expect the waiter continued to push ordering up!
We love Birk's. Yesterday's dinner was our first dining-out experience since the pandemic started, and we chose to go to Birk's because it is our favorite restaurant. We were pleased to be offered outdoor dining. We were impressed by the waitstaff and the precautions. We were sorry, though, that no mention had been made about the massive construction project going on that kept our outdoor dining from being in the area where we had expected it to be and put us in a tent in the parking lot where the wind that is normal in that area threatened to topple the tent (which was securely held down, fortunately). We also would have liked for Birk's to have planned for the setting sun by adding some kind of curtain/shade on that side of the tent where we sat - windy and hot and bright. Even with all of that, we enjoyed our delicious meal (although, our rare steak was more medium than rare) and again were happy to enjoy the oil poached prawns, Caesar salad and Brussels sprouts! The Best!
First time back to Birds since pre pandemic. Had a bad experience 2 yrs ago or so which wasn't usual for our love of Birds. Sat night was excellent. Amazing service, great prime rib and such a great outing for us. Our first indoor dining since March 2020. So great to be back. Birds is on top of its game. Calamari and clam chowder was great as well. Only criticism is wish vegetables were cooked longer but most restaurants cook them this way... anyways, 5 stars for Birks
It’s a little difficult to enter, due to construction... but the food is still great, just pricy for a $6 Iced Tea.
Waiters and servers provided excellent help and service! Food and drinks were top notch!
We went earlier than our reservation and had the Happy Hour drinks and a bite. Moroccan steak bits were good even though some of the pieces were a bit stringy. The Cherry mule was good mixing together the ginger beer and cherries well. Wine selections were a Cab and a rose.
For dinner I had the Peppercorn Filet Mignon which was nice and spicy as I remembered it to me. Cooked to a perfect medium in between. My wife had the Filet Mignon with Blue cheese. I tried a piece and we both liked it. We both also had the Guava Mai Tai which went well with the spiciness of my steak.
Because it was a special date they comped us with their desert platter which was very good.
Great service and very friendly. It is expensive but we’ll worth it.
Had Mary's chicken and it was delicious. The corn was my favorite. Ended with creme brule that was yummy.
The food was flavorful and the service was fast.
The parking lot entrance was not great.
Excellent food. Decor is dated and place looked dirty.
62nd wedding anniversary. Good service and food was good.
I had the Mary's chicken. It was juicy with the right amount of citrus flavor. The fries were great. The crème brûlée and the hazelnut chocolate cake was perfect. My friends enjoyed their steak and desserts also. Our waiter David was great. It's not cheap. But you get what you pay for.
Always great quality food, outstanding service .. the nicest manager ever!
It was nice to return to indoor dining and Birk's staged the tables properly, staff was wearing masks. We've always enjoyed Birk's and, once again, it did not disappoint.
It was all fantastic
Our celebratory birthday dinner at Birk’s was anything but celebratory. We waited 25mins before we could even order drinks. Then the waiter/bartender let us know there were about 15mins left before the kitchen closed and started to walk away before we HAD TO ASK to order food. After that the service just got worse. I had to ask twice for the check and for him to take it so we could leave. The entire night the bartender/waiter was only talking to coworkers and not taking care of customers. Additionally, I put on our reservation that we were celebrating a birthday and we received nothing. Not a special table, not a dessert, not even ‘a thank you for dining with us in this special occasion.’ The ONLY reasons this place got two stars is because the food was delicious and the gentleman bringing bread/clearing tables cared more about us than our waiter. I will never go back here and cannot recommend this place to anyone who wants a special night.
Hadn't been there in 10 years. Good cocktails, solid steak and sides. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Burks is always great. Food, service and environment is always spectacular.
They were very accommodating and service was top notch
Food and ambiance was very good. This was our first restaurant outing since the beginning of the pandemic. Construction to the entrance was a little annoying, but overall, a great night with great friends. $84.00 for a $36.00 bottle of wine was a little much, but it was my choice, so I can’t really complain. Beware, I had the prime rib “special” which was supposed to come with dessert. What I didn’t realize (and was not mentioned) was you have to order your choice when you place the order for your meal, sooo, no dessert for me. 😢
Food taste unfortunately has really gone down.
Excellent place for business lunches.
We've had dinner at Birk's many times and will continue our patronage.
As always, a great experience. I love bringing folks here.
Always outstanding food and service here. Our favorite restaurant in south bay next to manresa
We drove from Santa Cruz so it was a haul but the food and service made up for it.
My wife and I are travel nurses. I took my wife here for Mother’s Day and man what an awesome experience. The drinks were delicious (try the Hennessy margaritas), the ambiance was warm, the staff (our waitress was the bomb)were beyond attentive, and the food was 5 star. We were greeted and immediately seated upon arriving. My wife and I were really intrigued by the cooks. Let me correct that, we’re were intrigued by the chef, her sous chef and the line cooks. Give them all raises because they owned that kitchen. The only thing missing was Gordon Ramsey. If you have not been to this hidden gem, please please find time to go because you will not be disappointed. You get what you pay for and the treatment given is well worth the price alone.
This place went down, unfortunately.
We received the wrong order and worse, meat that supposed to be filet mignon, the medium was not filet mignon at all and it was well done.
Terrible value for a very expensive meal.
Disclaimer: We came for my first Mother’s Day so I’m sure it was more crowded than they had been accustomed to. I had seen previous people rave about the service but I do not agree. There were several instances when I was out of water and we had to ask to get bread for the table. We ordered the prime rib and it was overly smoked in flavor; my husband said it almost seemed like pastrami. The creamed spinach was not as creamy as I would’ve hoped. The mashed potatoes were fine but nothing to get excited about. I liked the Caesar salad very much and my husband liked his clam chowder. Dessert was reminiscent of those Costco desserts. Not too impressed.
I've been going to Birk's for years, I only go a few times a year, since we have so many restaurants in our area. I've always had great service, great food and drinks, the atmosphere is normally very nice. I went to Birk's yesterday (which was mothers day) and I was disappointed on so many levels. When I booked my reservation, I opted for outside seating, as I know they have a patio, just outside the main entrance. I had no idea there was construction going on, so the outside seating was in a tent in the parking lot. Had I know this at the time of booking, I would have requested inside seating. (So that was a bummer.)
It took 20 minutes for us to get our water and 30 minutes to get our 1st round of drinks. Granted we were in a tent in the parking lot, and the server had to walk really far just to get to the bar (unfair for the staff, I felt bad for our server). Our server was polite and a good job, considering the circumstance.
Our reservation was for 11:30am, the menu we were given was just dinner, no brunch or no lunch menu existed (so we were told.) Our options were very limited and very heavy. I ordered the salmon, which was not on the menu, but he said they had Salmon. It was just ok, slightly overcooked, no butter or sauce, rice was blan, just no flavor. So disappointing. The others in our group ordered Prime Rib, Filet and SeaBass, all were really good! Two of the people ordered creme brulee, which was disappointing! it was in a 1.5" dish with a small cookie.
I went to Flemings a week ago and we had an amazing dinner (5's across the board) such a different experience.
I will go back to Birk's, as I won't let one bad experience deter me, but I will wait until the construction is over.
good quality food & service. However they didn't have brunch menus on mothers day. I should've called in instead of just reading the website. Steak & prime rib is tasty, but a bit heavy for 11am.
Overall, I was pleased with the service, the food and the price. What was disheartening was that there was a lack of information on Birk's website and when I made the reservation. The exterior of the building is ongoing construction which means that all "outside" seating is in a tent located in the parking lot. Since the parking lot is located next to Highway 101, it can be noisy. We were happily accommodated with a table inside the restaurant, however.
The food was great and the service was outstanding.
