Focusing on Eastern European cuisine and California’s abundant produce, Birdie G’s is helmed by award-winning Chef and Co-Owner Jeremy Fox and Chef de Cuisine Matthew Schaler. Located within Santa Monica’s historic Bergamot Station, the neighborhood restaurant is named after Jeremy’s daughter Birdie and grandmother Gladys. Nearly everything is made in-house, with an emphasis on zero-waste, and seasonal ingredients are sourced from local farmers, ranchers and fishers aligned with the restaurant’s values of planet-friendly practices.

Very overrated. Chicken was OK but nothing special. Blood sausage, which I ate often in Germany in my younger days, was skimpy and not even close to being good. Service was very slow at times.

As a Jew, i love Birdie Gs but man, their portion sizes are a joke. Except for the french fries. But $16 for 1 maztoh ball soup is ridiculous and you know inflation aint hurting matzoh balls lets be real.

Again service and ambiance besides food was excellent. The pickle dish was a great start. French Fries a must always. Mushrooms the best. Fish was well cooked and delicious. Rib eye the same. Kugle was delicious. Everything was just as I remember. KIN cocktail was a great start.

We were celebrating our 51st wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. We ordered the trumpet mushrooms, Caesar salad, steak and frites for two, and the chocolate cake and date bundt cake. Our Caesar salad was slightly overdressed, but the rest of the meal was superb. We brought a special champagne from home so we did not order wine. The wait staff made us feel special without hovering. All in all, a very memorable evening.

Birdie G's (odd name) is excellent. Located in a light industrial neighborhood -- frankly, kind of a drawback that is tempered by friendly and efficient valet parking -- the food is excellent, if a bit inconsistent. The lamb is absolutely incandescent. The sides and starters are a bit less so (but the trumpet mushrooms tempura style was excellent). Not every dish can be a life altering experience but go fort the lamb, you won't regret it. Our server, Brian, was wonderful. Friendly. Knowledgeable, Very helpful (given that his was our first visit to Birdie G's).

Unfortunately, we had a poor experience at Birdie G's. We were a party of 6 at 6:30pm on Tuesday June 14. As you can see from the confirmation, our reservation made through Open Table was for outside seating (one of my guests is immunocompromised). When we arrived, on time, we were told we were wrong and that our reservation was for inside the dining room. Despite having to show my actual Open Table confirmation on my phone because they refused to believe me, they still insisted we were to go into the dining room and that my Open Table confirmation was wrong. We obliged. When we asked to be seated closer to the dining room door for better ventilation for my friend, we were sadly mistreated. I absolutely understand that restaurants can make mistakes, and that they can run into some challenges when it comes to seating. I am always happy to work with anyone trying to make it right and who acknowledges the problem. What I found unacceptable about our experience at Birdie G's was: 1. There was zero attempt on their part to try to remedy the situation 2. We were treated as if we were somehow lying 3. The Open Table reservation, despite being in writing, was not honored or even respected by the restaurant. 4. The restaurant's general attitude towards us throughout the experience can best be described at disdainful. We were all so looking forward to trying Birdie G's but because of the above behavior and attitude on the part of the restaurant, I won't return. I don't believe anyone in my party will either. I use Open Table often, and am so grateful for the amazing service you provide. I rarely complain about a restaurant, as I have found that most restaurants that you work with are very good. Following the experience at Birdie G's as described above, and because I know Open Table sincerely cares about customer care, I wanted to make you aware of what happened. Best regards, Ann

Unusual menu.... all the items recommended we shared as it was hard to choose so we tried a little of them all. Food was very tasty. We decided to split the very expensive short ribs but it was sufficient for 4 of us so the value wasn't too bad in the end.

I am a huge fan of this place - dare I say I could eat here daily. Because I like my veggies with my proteins, and I am always delighted by their creative preparations. It’s not veggie as a side, afterthought or an accent, it lets the veg shine and actually entices you. The service, wine list and all wrap up into a package I couldn’t appreciate more.

First time at Birdie G's. Originally thought it was going to be more of a funky deli experience, but it is really so much more. Unique dishes that take classics like Matzoh Ball soup and bring flavors that surprised and delighted our taste buds. The waitstaff is personable and very helpful. We'll be back.

It was my second time and I enjoyed a lot. I like their food very much. Refreshing California cuisine. We had a half chicken and asparagus salad and something that I don’t remember. Asparagus salad was very delicious and many layers of taste. I took 2 my friends and they both loved it.

My husband and I were celebrating my birthday and hoped for a delicious and romantic evening. We were NOT disappointed. Our table on the patio was quiet, our server kind and knowledgeable and our overall experience memorable. We started with the Caesar salad which was outstanding. For our main we split the Prime rib with French fries for two. It was worth the hour wait (which we were warned about). While waiting our server suggested we nibble on 1/2 order of the relish tray. I ate vegetables I had never seen or heard of and they were very tasty. Finally, we ended with an order of the Date caramel bundt cake and an order of the Chocolate malted cake. We "rolled out" sated and mellow, vowing to return with friends.

Fantastic meal, great service, and a setting that is equally beautiful and comfortable. Dreaming a day later about the kugel, which was a warm culinary hug, and the perfectly cooked lamb that melted in our mouths. Super-friendly and knowledgable waiter who clearly was having a great time sharing details about this lovely food. Would be equally wonderful for a big family dinner or an intimate date. Not inexpensive, but in our opinion, worth it.

Food is delicious and consistent. Ambiance is a bit lacking with the outdoor space, I don't recall music (though it was probably there); there isn't much of a 'vibe'. Nonetheless, this is one that I will always return to with people I love.

Our second time here and still just as wonderful! Everything we had was incredible. The wait staff is attentive and friendly, even when the place is packed. Leah was really helpful in navigating the menu and making cocktail selections. Also, we had been warned that the rose petal pie was not great so we skipped it on our first. But we did get it this time and I am SO happy we did. It is a unique dessert I haven’t seen anywhere else. Creamy but light, decadent but fresh, innovative yet nostalgic. Never not getting this in the future. A great place for all sorts of occasions, can’t wait to come back.

Went few nights ago.. the food was good but the steak was cold. We had it done again and again not hot. The manager was very nice and compensated for the dish but it wasn’t the money issue. If the dish was hot, it was a great piece of steak. The other fishes were great too Service was great. Cute place in the middle of industrial area. Like the vibe.

Birdie G’s is an amazing place. First, the setting is great — with lots of safe, comfortable outdoor seating for those not ready to venture indoors (which is still available). Second, the service is outstanding - helpful, efficient and simply nice servers who play close attention but are not intrusive. And finally, and most importantly, the food. As a native New York Jew I know what great matzo ball soup is. Surprisingly, Birdie G’s is off the charts. The best I ever had. Indeed I am already have reservations to head back for another bowl. The rest of the menu is outstanding. I especially enjoyed the half chicken, but the rest of the offerings are great, too. The genius behind Birdie G’s has created the most unusual, yet satisfying, range of choices. And, by the way, the car valets are the most friendly, helpful and kind valets I have encountered. Simply stated, Birdie G’s is outstanding.

Everything was so delicious from appetizers (relish tray & king trumpet mushrooms) to main courses (lamb & sea bass) and finished off with the rose pedal cake, which was quite refreshing and light to end the note. Staffs were all really friendly which was a bonus. Can't wait to return to try other items on the menu!

Took forever to get drinks. Food was cold. $119.00 special pastrami/brisket was cold, fatty and inedible. We didn’t say anything cuz the waiter was overworked. We won’t be back.

Our waiter, Jason, was excellent. He had such an understanding of the menu and the origins of the dishes. Our Caesar salad was great and my husband would return for the rice pudding with apples if for nothing else. He loved it!! Want to try the matzoh ball soup next time. Wasn't wild about the hangar steak but there are lots of other dishes to choose from.

Was looking forward to our celebratory meal at Birdie G's. The food was somewhat spotty - some really great dishes were enjoyed by our party - matzoh ball soup, the yams/sweet potatoes, and the lamb were excellent. The $30 relish tray was mediocre at best. The noodle kugel was a disappointment. The cocktail menu was inventive and very good. Service was what could generously be described as "leisurely" - 3 hours to order, be served, and pay our bill. So, all in all, mixed experience.

Great dining experience here. We tried their pickled chicken , mushroom carpaccio & castelfranco. Castefranco is a cabbage like vegetable that was served with pancetta cream sauce. Unique & delicious! Service was attentive and efficient. We enjoyed our meal immensely. Recommended.

This was our first time there and it was amazing. We were greeted so nice when we arrived and were led to our table. our server, Kristin, helped go through the menu and pointed out some wonderful dishes. We had the persimmons burrata and fried mushrooms to start.We then ordered the chicken and fish dishes and the flavors were wonderful. We will be back and I have been telling my friends to go there.
