Birdog just gave me one of the most satisfying dining experiences I've had in years. I stopped in with a friend this past Tuesday to try their Downtown Dining Week special and we were blown away. The lighting is low and the atmosphere is energetic. Plenty of rich dark colours and a very well-stocked bar. A perfect place to bring a date but also moody enough to allow for comfortable dining alone. Sit yourself in a quiet corner and pretend you're in a Mickey Spillane novel. But let's talk about the food. The Steak Tartare, made from Alberta beef and marrow and served on a roasted bone, was outstanding. It paired perfectly with a double shot of the excellent Bourbon that was recommended to me by their very knowledgeable bartender. This must be what it feels like to be John Wick. The staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The room is beautiful, the food is excellent and the service is top-notch. I recommend Birdog to anyone with a bit of romance and adventure in their heart. It's the perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends, a date, or even by yourself. I will definitely be adding Birdog to my list of regular haunts, and I can't wait to go back and try more of their incredible dishes.

Birdog was a nice evening out. It's part of the Century Hospitality Group (Parlour, Rebel, Lux, Hart's, etc.) and has a familiar feel to their menu, but a different feel to the room than many of their other venues in the city. The room has a good vibe - hip look, urban music, classic movies on the screens. The menu was creative and food was presented well - steak tartare served in a 1/2 bone so you can scrape it out & add egg & mustard to taste; nice crust on the pizzas with some interesting toppings (mortadella & pistachios); well seasoned salads. I would pass on the cauliflower - it's fine... not bad but nothing wow or special, so I would recommend trying something different. Cocktails were tasty, inventive and pretty pricey if you're going to have more than two of their special drinks. Service was average. Would recommend trying it out for the experience the kitchen is putting out...

Cold, bland, forgettable meal. We ordered an assortment of dishes - pigs in a blanket, lemon pizza, Maui ribs, kettle chips, chicken wings, truffle popcorn (which was the best and tastiest dish) and various cocktails and beverages. With 18% tip, nearly $400. HUGE disappointment.

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant before a hockey game. Our server was attentive and friendly. The food we had was unique and delicious and the restaurant was really nice. We had a lemon pie (thin crust pizza) that was absolutely delicious, a tasty cauliflower dish that had a lovely miso sauce and pansies as well as a Brie dish served over French fries with blueberry honey and a touch of truffle. Everything was so nicely presented and so tasty! I did find it it very loud … couldn’t really hear the person who brought out our food .

Got together with four other of my girlfriends on a Wednesday evening. The manager let me sit in the booth I desired as well as our server was very attentive and I had the BEST whiskey sour! I found the food and presentation to be slightly underwhelming but I was happy to try out the new spot!

The food, however, leaves something to be desired: - cold starters - HEAVILY peppered risotto - hammered salmon This is not quite an affordable venue with some potential to be a great little restaurant. I’ve been to Bird Dog once before, in January just shortly after it opened in December. It was a Friday right after work. The ambience was lovely, the music and vibe just right for an end-of-a-long-week evening out. Food and service was excellent as well. I brought a friend with me last Saturday nite around 9:30’ish for what I assumed would be a similar experience, looked forward to sitting across from him and catching up over a nice meal and a cocktail, maybe passively watch the game (it was the Flames, who watches them ??😏). Anyway, we had a reso, walked in & the first thing we noticed was the BUMPIN CLUB MUSIC that overpowered the whole place. I love club music, it just didn’t fit the vibe that I had first experienced at birddog. We were seated quickly, and our server was lovely. No complaints at all with food, service or the setting, such clean, white, contemporary decor…..our only observation was that the club music was a really strange choice, especially at max volume. There’s no dance floor, so it seemed the game, a lounge-style vibe with some chill tunes would have been a better match for this type of place, and we would have lingered way longer over more bevvies had we been able to have conversation. Lovely place, just need a slight adjustment to the vibe!

Came in just my husband and my self for a date! Vibe was amazing and so happy we booked! Drinks were great and food was delicious! The tartar presentation was amazing! But better to have a few more crostinis as the ratio of meat to bread was low so we ordered more! Would come back k again for sure!

I liked it here but it would be more of a place to go for drinks and a appie. We had dinner and we were a table of 4 and we all didn’t love our meal but we loved the cocktails and appetizers. I will return but not for dinner . Love the ambiance

If you stick to appies, the food is inventive and interesting. Drinks were well-crafted and tasty. Pizzas could be better - it's tough to put large pieces of meats as a topping and not have them all fall off in one bite. The risotto needed better seasoning - but the concept was good. Our service was amateur.
