The Bird in Hand is a friendly independently owned and operated pub in the village of Mayford. Whether you are looking for a casual drink, formal get together, delicious Sunday roast or a beer in our lovely garden area we have you covered.
We offer a great selection of beers, wine & cocktails that can be paired with our fresh seasonal menus served in our formal dining area, casual bar area or large sunny garden. We are proud to have a passionate and dedicated team who are here to help you enjoy your experience with us.
We are dog friendly in our bar and garden areas.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children of any age may dine with us but must vacate the premises by 8pm.

From the moment one steps into the Bird in Hand one feels the friendly atmosphere. All the staff smile a welcome whilst showing diners to their table. Menus are given out and drinks orders taken which arrive promptly. Because I have a small appetite, I ordered the children's size fish and chips. The fish was piping hot in a light crispy coating with fresh tasting peas and great chips. One of my friends chose a starter - Tomato & basil bruschetta which she said was delicious. Another preferred to have one of the popular wraps, in this case Chicken, avocado & bacon - very tasty. Finally, Sue made her selection from the July set menu, starting with Breaded fishcake which may sound rather plebeian but was anything but! We all chose to have a dessert. Two chose Frangelico affogato and enthused over them whilst the others could not resist Strawberries & cream from the July set menu. I only hope there are some left over for August! they were, as people say, to die for. Thank you so much to the wonderful chefs and Mike and staff.l

We always enjoy eating at the Bird in Hand but sadly we were a little disappointed this time. Two of us had the fish cake from the set menu which comprised mainly of potato, it was hard to find any fish. Hopefully this was just a one off, it won’t deter us from going again.

I have met friends here several times for lunch and the food has always been excellent , service very good We love the choice of the set menu, either 2 or 3 courses and will continue to meet up here and highly recommend

An enjoyable meal. Food was tasty, prompt and decent value. Car parking can be a challenge, only because the place is popular. Food portions (chips) could be bigger. Desserts were both very tasty (sticky toffee & brownie). Would go back.

Really lovely as usual. Keep going back. Great food, atmosphere etc. The only very small surprise we had was the way the waitress threw our plates at us on our table. Not the usual way they normally place them in front of you. Think she just needs a bit of training. Everything else perfect!
