The Bird in Hand is a friendly independently owned and operated pub in the village of Mayford. Whether you are looking for a casual drink, formal get together, delicious Sunday roast or a beer in our lovely garden area we have you covered.
We offer a great selection of beers, wine & cocktails that can be paired with our fresh seasonal menus served in our formal dining area, casual bar area or large sunny garden. We are proud to have a passionate and dedicated team who are here to help you enjoy your experience with us.
We are dog friendly in our bar and garden areas.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children of any age may dine with us but must vacate the premises by 8pm.

An enjoyable meal. Food was tasty, prompt and decent value. Car parking can be a challenge, only because the place is popular. Food portions (chips) could be bigger. Desserts were both very tasty (sticky toffee & brownie). Would go back.

Really lovely as usual. Keep going back. Great food, atmosphere etc. The only very small surprise we had was the way the waitress threw our plates at us on our table. Not the usual way they normally place them in front of you. Think she just needs a bit of training. Everything else perfect!

We had an excellent meal, celebrating my partner’s birthday. It’s been a while since we’ve been to the Bird in Hand - and the food was really excellent - we had a particularly lovely seafood platter - delicious, creative dishes, presented beautifully. The serving staff are attentive, helpful, and more than happy to advise. The restaurant has a really good open and spacious atmosphere - but the decor is now just starting to look a little tired - but still a very comfortable space to enjoy the excellent food. We must remember to come back more often!

Perfect Father's Day late lunch. Good service & food , friendly staff. Lovely outside seating area, dog friendly.

I have eaten here three times and everyone has been outstanding. The food is always tasty and well presented and the staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive. I would recommend this restaurant/pub to anyone.

Took my mum for Father’s Day and the food, staff and atmosphere were all amazing. We were all very happy with everything there and definitely will be returning.

On arriving we were in a smoking area which I wouldn’t have booked if I’d known. We were able to move so anll was fine. Everything else was great, good food, service, environment so very happy.

As usual we were greeted in a welcoming manner and shown to our table immediately, provided with the menus and asked for our drink selection. When Isabelle, our waitress came to take our order, one of the party wished to have a salad but the only one available was a Chicken Caesar salad which was unfortunate, as she does not eat meat, and asked if it was possible to have the salad but with halloumi instead. The waitress went to ask the chef and came back to confirm this was, which was an excellent example of how accommodating Mike and his staff are. The other food chosen was Lemon Grass & ginger prawn bon bons and lightly battered fish and chips. For dessert, two chose Frangelico affogato and one sticky toffee pudding all of which were delicious and served most attractively. A wonderful dining experience we would highly recommend the Bird in Hand to everyone.

Lunch this time, food was just as beautifully presented at dinner the two course option was reasonable especially for the quality we love. The atmosphere service was good as usual charming and timely hard to fault anything.
