The burger is the best of best in the twin cities. We have
been to almost every restaurant in Minnesota and have
never had another burger like at Birch’s. Fries are better
than McDonalds ( if that’s even possible ).

We were looking for a place for our anniversary dinner--without t.v.s! Birch's had only one t.v. and a beautiful view and a fireplace! Service and food was good and we had a beer! We will be back again.

I would return here because it's such a lovely place, but we were not impressed with the service. We showed up at 11:30 for Sunday brunch, the place was about half full. The greeting/hostess were lukewarm and not super receptive to requests but we did have a nice view away from the windows. We were served initial beverages promptly, however it took forever to get our server back for cream, coffee was cold by then. Also took a long time to place our food order AND about another 30+ minutes for food to arrive. Luckily it was a beautiful day, we had nowhere to be but that's a long wait for folks who are hungry. The food was solid and I liked the options for keto/gluten free. It was super fun to watch the sled dogs give rides, and I like that you can launch a kayak from their shore, we'll try that in the summer.

All 5 of us enjoyed our meals: 2 had the walleye, I had an excellent shepherd's pie(with lamb), the other 2 friends had an assortment of "small plates". My four friends had not been to Birches previously and want to come back when the ice is gone to enjoy the view of the lake.

An overall great experience - food was really good, I had the short ribs and love them! The roasted cauliflower app for the table was awesome!

Their beer was good too - really liked the Norwegian IPA.

Loved the ambiance of both the supperclub and the brewhouse - can’t wait to go back in summer to enjoy the lake view!

Good food and a nice view if you live nearby, but the poor service and higher prices aren’t worth driving from Minneapolis or St Paul. Overall the value just isn’t there. We went for a birthday dinner and were seated in a loud room next to the kitchen with no ambience. Disappointing experience with little attention from our waiter or host.

Love the atmosphere! Sitting by a window overlooking a winter wonderland with a fire burning in the middle of the room is lovely. The food and service were very good. We were there for brunch and the four of us ordered: salad, eggs, pancakes, and a turkey burger. We also had the almond joy tres leche cake for dessert and it was perfect for sharing. My only complaint is it is difficult to find any light or lower calorie items on the menu. I would like to have been able to substitute fresh fruit for the french fries. We will be back as it is a wonderful place for us to meet with friends who live West of the Cities.

I had reservations, we were seated right away. When someone came to give us water we let them know one of the water glasses looked like it was dirty and we were told it was just scratches from stacking the glasses and then shown how the glasses were stacked and thus how the scratches occurred. We then waited for 25 minutes before a server came to the table to ask if we wanted to order drinks. We were told by the sever that he had just arrived to work. This was at 3:30 in the afternoon, they did not appear to be busy as there were many empty tables. The food was good and served in a timely manner.

I had never been to Birch’s on the lake before, but had been wanting to try it, therefore I took advantage of their restaurant week offer, I tried the carpaccio and their duck with pasta, both were excellent. I can’t wait to try something else next time!

Reservations were on time. The service was terrible 4 people were at out table they messed up our drink order. I ordered the the special which was carpaccio appetizer and only received 1/2 of a piece of bread for the entire plate. The main course was scallop with rizzuto. I received 2 scallops one was raw and I received cubed squash.the server said that was the rizzuto excuse me but that is not. Desert was a double chocolate stout cake and I received a miniature chocolate cupcake from cub foods. My wife never received her soup with her meal. Both me and my wife felt sick to our stomachs after dinner and went home afterwards and went to bed feeling sick.

Birch's continues to be a great place for either a group of friends or just for a quiet night out. We ate in the dining room, overlooking the lake (beautiful sunset.) Lisa did an amazing job taking care of us. We opted for one of the Restaurant Week specials. We also had the pasta and Wanderer Salad. All great options (although there should have been 3 instead of 2 scallops in our opinion.) As usual, the food and service were outstanding. Everything came out as expected with the quality, taste and the presentation was outstanding.

I've decided this is one restaurant that really "gets it" and can do it right each and every time. As always, looking for my next trip to Birch's!

Wonderful atmosphere with a very nice view! We visited the place during restaurant week for lunch. Overall the staff was very friendly, our waitress was polite, smiley and fast. We were a group of 7, a couple of us ordered from restaurant week menu and loved their food, cheese curds were a hit. The rest of us tried different entrees from the regular menu (burgers and fried white fish) and extremely enjoyed them! We would come back to try their dinner and of course, the beer.

We enjoyed the comfortable feel of the place while still having an upscale dining experience. Nothing pretentious or over the top, which is a refreshing change from some of the downtown venues lately. Would like to come back again for regular menu and brunch!

We decided to launch restaurant week at Birch since the fixed menu looked interesting from the appetizer (tuna poke) or a beet endive salad, duck breast or dover scallops as a choice for entrees ending w either a lemon merengue like dessert or a chocolate infused stout w a scoop of ice cream. Happy to say Birch did not disappoint and if you factor in the ambiance of being able to look out Long lake surrounded by multiple fireplaces and a northwoods feel, this experience was a treat for my wife and I.

We checked it out for a rehearsal dinner. We were sad to see they don't really have a room for a private event. It has 2 levels, beautiful lake views. We went in the winter, so there were people ice fishing. We were pleased with our food and our waiter was great. Too bad it won't work for our event.

Went to Birch on a recommendation. Made a reservation for Valentine's Day. Had 8 o'clock reservation. I expected some delay due to the holiday, no problem. 15 minutes into waiting they offered tables in the bar area in front of live music. We wouldn't have been able to talk over it. They then took us downstairs to what looked like a sports bar themed area with red table clothes. You can dress up the area but it's still a bar. The waiter was condescending about the questions we asked. Said the upstairs attendee should have told us. Filled our glasses up once. Not really a chatty server but at least come by more than twice. I ordered the herb crusted walleye. It had absolutely no flavor even with the herb crust. The rice was sticky. The asparagus was hard. Wife ordered the chicken and it was favorable. Potatoes were clumpy and had oil on them. We ordered desert but it wasn't exactly what we thought it would be. It was supposed to be more chocolate but came out looking like white cake. Overall the price was around $90 for all. Little pricey for the food we received. I was supposed to have a rose in a vase on the table with a note for my wife. I'm still waiting on it as she never received it. The valet guys, 2 of them for such a busy night, had lost a set of keys so it took us another 20 minutes to leave as they tried to straighten the mess out. Several people around us complaining about it as well. We're from out of town and hoped for an enjoyable experience. We're in MN often but wouldn't go back here again except for drinks in the summer on the porch. That's about all it had going for it was the view over the water.
