About Birch's on the Lake Brewhouse & Supperclub
Birch’s Restaurant and Bar has officially moved to the Lake! The iconic building was first home to the Hansen House in the 1960’s and then became Billy’s Lighthouse, a favorite spot for many inhabitants of Long Lake and nearby western suburbs. It had sat abandoned since 2006, until its revival from local restaurateur Burton Joseph and local brewmaster Brennan Greene.
Birch’s on the Lake Brewhouse & Supper Club is a one-stop shop for sensational experiences for guests of all kinds. From families looking to grab a bite to eat before a sporting event, to catered private parties for business professionals, the varied menu can satisfy all tastes. Birch’s on the Lake brings a new level of indulgence to any patron; delicious food, cold brews and spectacular views.

Birch's on the Lake Brewhouse & Supperclub Ratings and Reviews
Prime rib on Saturdays is excellent -- walleye is also very good -- one of the vegetable choices Saturday was spaghetti squash -- don't see that too often in restaurants, but was outstanding -- cooked and then baked with cheesy topping!!
Very good table service.
Solid prime rib. Older crowd. Live music was good. Lots of folks dancing. Quintessential supper club vibe. They were late seating us for our reservation. Service was a bit sloppy, sparse, and basic (i.e., left appetizer dishes entire meal, server couldn’t speak to ingredients, didn’t refill wine, etc.).
Beautiful setting and view of Long Lake. Three unique options for dining/seating...the patio is awesome in the summertime, the brewery downstairs provides a more casual atmosphere with still excellent food, and the upstairs dining provides a more classy, formal ambiance.
The brunch here is delicious! I've had both the Huevos Rancheros and Walleye Benedict and each was incredible!
Grossly overpriced. Non-alcoholic Beverages were not included in the $44 per person Thanksgiving meal. Bill for 2 with tip was $120. Service was barely satisfactory. Price was not available until I receive the bill. Horrible value for that price. Bad news will travel very fast in my circles.
The food was pretty good for the most part. We were there for Thanksgiving, so this was a buffet. We were surprised they didn’t have a whole turkey to carve, just a skinless breast.
The ambience would of been perfect, but the staff was coming by moving tables to be put away while we were eating. Our wait staff was very good.
Great atmosphere and lake view! We were there for Thanksgiving towards the end of their holiday buffet and the food was hot, fresh and tasty with ham and turkey cut to order. From the moment we were greeted until leaving the entire staff was welcoming, friendly and seemed to be enjoying the holiday even though they were working!! We'll be back!
Our family enjoyed the Thanksgiving buffet. The food was very good and the service was excellent. We did have to wait a few minutes for our table even though we had a reservation, and the place was full. The staff did a great job keeping the buffet fresh. We will definitely be coming here in the future for Thanksgiving.
Our first time having Thanksgiving in a restaurant. Very pleased! Food was amazing and ALWAYS fresh and pleasing. Staff were commendable, everyone was warm and welcoming. We felt as if they had invited us to Thanksgiving dinner!!!
My only complaint...the tables between the entryway and buffet ( also flanked by the access to the restrooms) sadly, lacked the superb atmosphere of the other tables.
Will definitely return to Birch's on the Lake!
Made reservations for dinner for two. Table was ready when we got there the supper club has nice ambiance. My husband ordered the ribs he thought they were delicious. I order steak I wasn't impressed with it being a supperclub. I thought the steak was over seasoned and over cooked. We also ordered the Brussels sprouts I thought they tasted terrible. Our waitress was nice enough to take it off the bill. Overll was satisfied with service and our meal. Just wasn't wowed for the price I paid for our dinner.
All four of us really enjoyed our food. Menu was very creative, I would have loved to try six other dishes besides the wonderful walleye I had. People noise was a little bothersome, don't know what they could do about that. Service was VERY attentive, perhaps too much with the table clearing. I'm not used to $130 meals (without alcohol) but clearly that's the market the owners want to attract.
I had the scallops and they were amazing! Perfectly seared! Kind of a small dish for the price, but delicious. When we first arrived the noise level was fine, but then they had a live singer and she was entirely too loud. We we're having to shout to talk when she was singing.
To make dinner a 5, please ask if we want sour cream on our potato, don’t just put it on...prime rib is intended to be served very hot on the platter, ours was barely warm and finally the broccoli was so firm it tasted like it was barely cooked. Our server was pleasant and checked in on us often.
great food, great service, great atmosphere, great view, great music (pandora Chicago) for baby boomers. Also, music was loud enough to enjoy but not too loud so we could talk and engage. elegant, casual.....it fits all occasions. Limited but great variety menu. We enjoyed our evening very much....Thanks
This was our first time to Birch's on the Lake. We loved it! We made a reservation and had a lovely table by the window overlooking the lake. Our waiter/bartender was Tony and he was very helpful and paid close attention to our dining needs. He offered suggestions for appetizer, drinks and entrees and everything was fabulous! We will definitely come back! Thank you!
We truly appreciated get a nice seat by the window even though we forgot it would be dark when we ate. ha. Just appreciate that when we reserved it, you gave it to us.
One thing I would say was a bit tough was that we were seated next to a larger group that were at the bar and it seemed difficult for us to have conversation with our friends cause the people at the bar were loud and rightly so. Just difficult when your dining next to it.
It was around 2 pm and the restaurant was relatively quiet. There was miscommunication and it took my husband going to the bar after 25 mins of waiting to get a waitstaff over- there were tons of staff walking by, pouring water looking at a impatient table but no one did anything.
Then the waitress takes the order and then comes back because she forgot half the order. Then my husband doesn’t get his soup, which we have to remind them about- at which point they bring the wrong soup.
After all this, no volunteering to discount the tab. No manager to be seen anywhere.
The food is not great, expensive but it’s close to our place and has a cool ambience- but I’ll think twice on plopping down that kinda cash on this place.
We loved our experience at Birch's. The food, service and ambiance were great. We both got the scallops and loved them. It was a great way to spend my birthday. Thank you, Burt, for arranging a great booth for us. I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to meet you. We loved listening to the Steels music. It has been many years since I have heard them. It was very nostalgic .We will return.
