Birch and Butcher
Really enjoyed it and great service
Was there last Saturday before 7PM and service, cocktails, food and wine was very, very good. After feeling burned out on the local food scene for awhile we tried these guys for the first time and was very impressed, we'll be back for sure.
we had heard good things, we just were not impressed in the least with naything
My husband and I so wanted to love this place. We are foodies from Chicago and live in MKE and Chicago 1/2 the time. We both felt that they were trying too hard to be a foodie type restaurant. Just make good simple food. The steak tartare was very good, the bread was excellent, but the mains were a little to be desired. My husband took 2 bites of his meal and that was it... and I ate 1/3 of mine. If I were to give a point of constructive criticism it would be to make really good comfort food that has the utmost best ingredients, keep it simple. My carrots in the Chicken dish were not edible, too much char and who wants burnt carrots? Think simple. Vegetables need the most simple ingredients to enhance them. The Parpadelle was bland and tasteless and too much oil. We were less than thrilled with our meals. The service was good. The space needs to be warmed up. Put some fig trees or palms in between seating areas for warmth. It was not terrible, but has potential to be really good. Just felt they were trying too hard.
