BIN 54 Ratings and Reviews
The steak at Bin 54 is our favorite. We LOVE rare plus as a temperature option. If you do decide to go here be prepared for not the best service. We understand busy but the servers could be a little more attentive. It makes us not want to go and pay full price ever.
We were given a table right by the door. There was a draft and it was cold. I know it's restaurant week but the couple before us were shown the table and they shook their heads and were led to another table in the back of the restaurant. It was unfortunate that when we were given that table and then requested a different we waited 30 min and then an additional 10 before we saw a waiter. And we had a 9PM reservation. The server didn't actually talk to us until 9:40PM.
As a first time guest, I found the service impeccable and the restaurant week menu sufficiently varied. The suggested wine was on point for both the salmon and beef entree. The server had been unaware that 10% of the proceeds from Restaurant Week benefit the Food Bank but he surely will include that in his description of the event in the future. I will return to Bin54.
I was very pleased and surprised with the menu for restaurant week. The taste, temperature and options for dinner were outstanding. I appreciated the extra A-1 since I am literally addicted although the steak didn't need it at all. The Blue Cheese added extra amazing flavor. I was very pleased and will return.
I appreciate the fact that Bin 54 offered items from their current menu on the Triangle Restaurant Week menu as well as items that they do not typically have. Overall, Bin 54 makes a mean steak. Great for the men, but with the ambiance to take a lady out on a romantic evening. :-)
Note to the hostess: I know you usually put the menus on the table, but if I reach for it, it's because I want to look at it. You do not need to tell me that you are putting it on the table.
Now, as for the meal:
I started out with the beef tartar, which was so heavy and salty, I couldn't finish it. Being a big-time foodie, this is rare for me.
Next came my "medium rare" steak. Except it was medium-well. Though I said it was ok, because it was late, the waiter insisted I get a new one. Fine. Except the new one was rare. Bleeding. It was late(r) at this point, so I just ate the not-still-alive parts. (I realize this is ironic due to the fact that I started with beef tartar, but, I know what I like!)
Dessert (choco mousse) was great.
Come here for a great steak and wonderful service. My water glass was never low and our server was attentive, without being too present. I always have a good quality and perfectly cooked steak at Bin 54. I ordered dessert this time, which was absolutely delicious. You really can't go wrong, here.
We brought a couple with us to experience what we believe is the best beef restaurant in the triangle and the filet mignons that everyone had lived up to that high standard. We were treated to having our meal in the private wine room. The ambience and dining experience made this a very special, memorable evening.
This was our first time at Bin 54. We'd heard about it for a while and chose to dine on a weekend alone. I made the reservation via Open Table. The hostesses were great and worked with me choice of tables and what was available at the bar/high tables. When we arrived we were greeted timely and seated at a table where we could see the whole dining area. The booth was a bit large, but it turned out to be the best one in the room. The steaks were good, the soup (French Onion) and salad (Spinach) were fantastic. Were stuffed and tried the Strawberry Lime Sorbet which was a pleasant treat and a great balance of sweet and tart. Our server, Vicki, was patient and pleasant making it a fine evening of dining all around.
We celebrated our aniversary at Bin 54 and everything went smoothly. The food was good even though the creamed spinach casserole was a little bit dissapointing. If you are a fan of shortribs you should def. check them out since they were delicious and the steaks are very good as well. I wish our waitress would go over all the specials for that day since I would go for the lamb if I would know they have it that day. Overall tough service was flawless. The side portions are quite big so dont be afraid to ask for to go boxes;) And if you will have a room for a dessert the chocolate mousse is a must!
My wife and I have been looking for a non-chain fine dining experience for steak and seafood in Chapel Hill. Mission accomplished. It was an excellent experience with good food and good service. The wait staff was very attentitive and helpful with our selections. We shared a salad, tuna tartar, ribeye, baked potato, nice bottle of wine, and banana pudding for dessert. It was plenty of food. We can't wait to go back.
We were so excited to go to this restaurant on New Years Eve. The place is trendy, very loud and some diners got to experience way to many servers crowding them based on the positioning of the tables. The biggest issue for us was the food (sides) was extremely salty. Too salty to finish or take seconds. I found them inedible. The steak was delicious however and we noted most people had as sides the french fry option. The server never asked if there was an issue with very apparent unfinished sides, which we declined to also take home. Hopefully can attribute it to poor assessment due to a busy night. We will try the place one more time. There are many fine restaurants in the area and Raleigh for optional choices.
My husband said that his steak was very good, and his spinach salad was delicious. I had the beef rib, and it was among the best I've ever tasted, extremely tender. My St. Germain's Garden Cocktail, was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Absolutely fantastic! However my after dinner drink aptly named Perfect Ending, was not perfect, but it was good--maybe it should be called "Good Ending". Nevertheless, we enjoyed our visit.
Dinner with friends and family. Wonderful food - steaks and lamb cooked over wood, braised short ribs to die for. Service was excellent. We had a table off by itself which was quieter than the general room but great for conversation. Overall a great experience and a relief from the normal Chapel Hill offerings.
Our group of six visited Bin 54 on Thursday night. We dine out as a group about once a year and look for restaurants with a reputation for superb food and service; a place for leisure dining and shared conversations.
Bin 54 certainly has superb food and attentive services. Unfortunately, the noise level was so high I had to shout to the person sitting directly to my left, read lips to understand the response and then shout the response to the person on my right. We very soon stopped trying to share information around the table.
My husband and I love Bin54. While we don't have the opportunity to go very often, it is always a wonderful experience. The staff is friendly and service has always been excellent. The General Manager always takes the time to visit each table and is very solicitous of all his patrons and he ensures that everything is "perfect" for your evening. It has become our "go to" restaurant.
We have visited this restaurant often and find both the service and food very good. The focus is on steak but my wife loves their scallops. For me their sliders are exceptional. I am always impressed by the service. Staff is efficient and friendly and work together.
My wife always orders filet mignon. This was the best one she ever experienced. I tried hers and concur. I had the NY strip. It was pricey, but I took half of it home for a nice steak salad. The sides we ordered (al a carte) were excellent. The spinach casserole was a high-end creamed spinach...wonderful! It and the twice-baked potato were large, sharable portions. Desserts were huge and great.
