Open Table allowed us to make reservations for Thurs 1/4 lunch but when I arrived, I learned the restaurant was closed for the holidays. Why would Open Table allow me to make reservations if the place was closed. Did the restaurant forget to tell Open Table? Is there a glitch in Open Table's system? This was a business lunch. Whatever the reason, I was utterly disappointed. (FYI I was forced to give 1 stars in order to submit this. It should really be 0s)
Restaurant didn't update opentable availability and allowed a reservation on a day the restaurant was closed. I made a reservation for an important family event and was not notified until less than four hours prior to the reservation that they were closed that day. Awful experience.
Having a wine flight at Bin 36 is always a pleasure, and Enoch Shully is the consummate host. The kitchen makes some very tasty dishes at reasonable prices.

This was a great place for drinks, food was not as good as I thought it would be. However, service was top notch! A friend and I went for my birthday and they gave us a free glass of champagne and chocolate cake, very generous! I would go back for drinks and small bites, but not for a full meal.

Just had Thanksgiving meal with friends. Their 3-course meal was family style and pretty filling. Stuffing might have been a little burned but overall great choices. I especially liked pumpkin polenta & cauliflower soup 💕 Service was somewhat slow but not many people were working. We were thankful to have a place serving Thanksgiving meal at reasonable price. Will definitely come back!
Thanksgiving dinner special. Food was quite good and the portions were generous. The wine pairing was nice but stingy for the price.

Came to Bin 36 for Thanksgiving dinner and had a great meal. It's a huge meal, so you definitely won't leave hungry! The staff and our server were courteous and professional and accommodated our dietary requirements. My girlfriend is vegetarian and I'm allergic to both peanuts and shellfish. They came up with a great veggie option for my girlfriend and made sure I didn't get any peanuts or shellfish in my meals.
The ambiance was nice, until it got busy and then it was pretty crowded and noisy. Not surprising for Thanksgiving dinner, but if you want a quiet dinner, better to go on a slower night.
Overall, I would recommend Bin 36 for a date night, or nice dinner out, during a slow weeknight.

I took my mother to Bin 36 to celebrate a momentous birthday and what a fun time we had. We celebrated with my toddler in tow. They were very accommodating to our requests, engaged my child and adjusted food options to that of a younger persons likes. The adults were equally well taken care of. It was so nice to feel welcomed as a family and also be able to have an adult dinner as well. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion, but especially for a special one.
This place is getting a bit dated. It also has a funky smell to it. Food is OK and we did have a nice waitress but with so many good options in the area I would choose something else
I really hoped to have a nice dinner here to celebrate my girlfriend's new job but the restaurant really failed to deliver a nice experience for us. I arrived early to purchase a bottle of bubbles for the table for a toast. I asked the man behind the bar for some recommendations but did not get much help from him. I liked the description of one of the glass pours which was listed at $10 and asked to our purchase a bottle to be presented at the table when my girlfriend and her friend arrived. I was charged $55.00 for the bottle, and when I asked for clarification on why I was charged so much more than the glass price for a 750 mL, I was told it was because bottles were not usually sold of that item. It would make sense to charge more if I had wanted a glass of something only available by the bottle, but since this was not the case I felt taken advantage of.
After we were seated at the table, we asked for some recommendations for starters, and told the server we wanted to order appetizers before entrees. We wanted the calamari and our server suggested we also order the Brussels sprouts, which would also go well with the calamari. Unfortunately the calamari came out quite a bit after the sprouts so we didn't really enjoy these items together.
As for entrees, I ordered the chicken, my girlfriend ordered 3 empanadas since she was not very hungry and her friend ordered the burger. For some reason the empanadas were sent out first. We decided to share them so we could all enjoy something while waiting for the other items. When they finally arrived, my chicken was not fully cooked so I asked that it be given a bit more time. It ended up being another 12-15 minutes until it was brought back out by a cook. We finished our meal and hoped to ask for a check, but our server was nowhere to be seen for quite some time. Mistakes and delays like this would have made sense if the restaurant were busier, but we were one of only 3 parties. Just a disappointing experience overall.
Restaurant was pretty empty and gave the impression of just holding on. Accents of waiters very strong, so difficult to understand them. Seemed like a dying place -- wouldn't go back, for sure.
Great experience! My friend is a vegetarian so had to stick to a specific menu, but enjoyed what we had: goat cheese empanadas, cheese board, and salad. Probably could have passed on the hummus and Brussel sprouts as they were just ok. Wine flights were fun and overall a really cool concept of sharing and sampling.
The food is phenomenal! Enoch is always a gracious and attentive host.
One of my regulars in the City - both for social and business - good combination of wines, ambience, service and food. It's the combination of the aforementioned that attracts me.
Noticed a prior review citing wine selection and on this Sat night we had an excellent $35 bottle - think it was called Tulah or something like that.
The atmosphere was great, but for a wine bar the selection of wines was lacking (as in, many of their wines were out of stock except for the $80 per bottle ones...) The food was good but also very small plates. For the amount of money spent, I shouldn't be leaving hungry. There are other places in Chicago with similar themes that could provide a better atmosphere.
Gracious host, expert waitstaff, lovely outdoor seating, kale salad and short ribs very good; hummus was salty and average and accompanying veggies were old (celery brown on edges, carrots and cucumber rather soft ). Nonetheless would return but not order again.

Go for the happy hour! Small plates with not the usual options plus a small menu of entrees. In addition, you can get cheese 'flights', wine 'flights'. Prices are reasonable, portions are reasonable and designed for sharing. One caveat: white bean hummus is boring, but fish tacos are very good.

It was a lovely evening that began with complimentary Rosé Champagne on the terrace for the start of the Birthday celebration. The Kale salad, Squid Ink Bucatini and Octopus were delicious and well portioned enough for two. I will definitely make it back to this location in the very near future.
Went after work with a group. We tried the different wine flights and took the food option where we got one of everything on the menu. The food was fun and the wine was great. We sat outside on the patio and the great weather certainly added to the fun!

I've been to Bin 36 three times over the past 15 years. Always the same experience- nice flights of wines I've never tried, well-paired, and quality, food, mixed with excellent, friendly service. Always a good experience for not a lot of money. We had two flights of wine each, a cheese board, a salami board, calamari, and my wife had a salad and I had a burger. Too much food, but all good.

I used to really live the diversity of the menu. I don't know if ownership has changed but the menu is much more limited and the good is at best, average. The wait staff was very good but I will not be returning.
A most pleasant evening with 1/2 price cheese plate appetizer when we arrived just 10 minutes prior to our 6 pm reservation. Italian wine flight was well rounded for a most agreeable price. Entrees were on the small plate size but who cared after all that good cheese?
Bin36 never disappoints. Enoch is unfailingly friendly and knowledgeable and new chef Angelina has actually improved the formerly wonderful Brussels sprouts and added several innovative dishes. Perfect for business or family dinners or lunches.
Fantastic wine list in a lovely setting. The chef's cheese board selection was outstanding. The glazed chicken wings were also delicious. In addition they offer a variety of wine flights which looked tempting if we'd had more time. The 2 Chicago residents I brought there had never heard of the place, but they will be going back. We were on the early side so it wasn't super-crowded. Our service was great but I didn't experience the place packed with people.
