Billy G's Smokehouse
sort of place that is big on fun, family and friendship. The menu is simple and all about
(yup, you guessed it) the meat. Great meat cooked the old fashioned way with lots of love,
patience and smoked hardwood flavor, plus traditional sides and plenty of craft beers and
clever cocktails await.
The service was outstanding. The management went above by providing my children with T-shirt’s since they were soaked from the rain. Food was great. Highly recommend
Worst BBQ ever. Because of some malfunction in the kitchen, they did not have pulled pork. Which is kind of like a seafood restaurant not having fish. We ordered the brisket, which has really bad. First of all, over 50% of the brisket was untrimmed pure fat. Also, the brisket was very very tough and overcooked, with no taste whatsoever, except for the peppercorns adhering to the outside. Even the BBQ sauce did not help. Awful. Plus, the waitstaff, while the tried to please, brought my wife regular beer instead of the non-alcoholic beer she ordered. Couldn't have been more disappointed.
Sauces were watery and lacked any flavor. Meet was tender but without a sauce lacked flavor.
We ate at Billy G’a twice while on vacation at Wild Dunes. Both meals were delicious and the service was fast and friendly!
Great food, large variety and portions. Georgia was our our sever and she was GREAT !!!!!
The nicest person working that evening was the hostess. Our waitress was not very nice and took forever to take our order (the place was not busy). They brought us someone else’s food. When we finally were served our order the hamburger was still very pink inside and we had to send it back. Overall, it was a 0 out of 6 for anyone liking their meal. We spent $80 + tip. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else! We love the resort, but the restaurant is horrible!!!
Food was very good. I ordered the beef brisket platter. A lot of food and enjoyed most of it. The baked beans were sweet which I didn't care for, but everything else was delicious. They also have pinball, foosball and other games. The family enjoyed hanging around to play before and after we ate.
Average food and average service. The chicken wings are very spicy but good. The pimento cheese that went with the pork rinds was great. I had the brisket and it was good. For a BBQ spot on the beach, in a resort, it was better than expected. They have some games like pinball, golden tee, foosball as well which makes it a bit loud but it’s a family type restaurant so I would expect that.
We went to the restaurant for our 6:45 reservation & the restaurant said closed. No note on door. No call-nothing!! We tried to find another restaurant last minute with no luck. Horrible!!
Highly disappointed in the restaurant considering the location. The barbecue was dry. Desserts we're bad. Service was mediocre at best. This was a sad addition to our otherwise perfect beach weekend.
Unfortunately nothing special here. Food was just ok pulled pork was not up to southern standards. Brisket was good. Salad bar was disappointing.
Overpriced, not great food. I guess they justify the pricing by giving you more of it. They were totally uncool about Open Table reservation. For some reason didn't want to acknowledge the reservation was made through Open Table.
On the upside, the waitress was great. Very friendly and helpful.
Wouldn't recommend it unless you are stuck on the resort with no way out.
Food was ok. It is on a resort so I never get to excited with that. It was good for the kids.
The lettered Olive never knew what it was supposed to be; Billy G's knows exactly what it is, a great barbecue joint. Not only are the entrees great, but the sides are fantastic. The collard greens are some of the best we've ever had. Both the brisket and pulled-pork were outstanding. My son had the salmon and he loved it as well.
Food portions were generous and delicious. Service was a little slow, but serve staff very kind and friendly.
If you want to stuff your face, I highly recommend Billy G's! My family and I really enjoyed this place. I ordered the beef brisket and my wife ordered the smoked chicken. We both really enjoyed our entrees. The sauces are fantastic! Probably my favorite part of the place is the all you can eat salad bar. It has your usual vegetables and such, but there is also an all you can eat potato salad, pasta salad, and cole slaw bar! Out kids had the all you can eat kids bar, which included things like chicken fingers, apple sauce, yogurt, fruit, and jello. It is a bit pricey, but overall a good value.
Salty, poorly done, slice white bread on the plate , wings - worst ever , don't go
Great new spot on isle of palms. Starters were great-had the smoked wings and the homemade chips and French onion dip. Brisket sundae was delicious and the salad bar had every topping imaginable. Great for large groups. The
drink with candied bacon was awesome and so was the bourbon root beer float. We'll definitely be back.
First- this place has so much potential! Located within walking or golf cart distance for wild dunes - we've been hoping for restaurants like this for a long time! I gave three stars because the food is just ok. Tastes good, but for the price didn't seem as high quality as it could have been. Charleston is known for its local healthy fare (and the south it's BBQ), so lots to compare to. Plus Home Team is right down the road.
