A very tired looking place. Food and service was below average.
Service and food prep was poor - had to send things back four times. First time I was served the wrong drink, the lobster in our seafood tower had not been cleaned (talk about repulsive), our "medium-rare" steak was served with a cold, blue center and the halibut was overcooked and chewy. In general, a very disappointing experience.
A great overall experience! Very nice intimate ambience, with exceptional service. The Beef Wellington is amazing! Not the cheapest place in town, but will most certainly go back.
One of the best business lunch places in NYC. Always very good.
Kale salad w salmon...a must. One of the best lunch spots midtown.
Bill's Townhouse welcomes you and treats you special.
The food is straight forward and meets the expectations
This is a lovely place, but the stairs! Up to eat, up to use the bathroom, or down. Our server was less than great nice but pre occupied, he asked how my husband wanted his fried cutlet done! We never got our bread after he said he was bringing it and when we asked quite a while later he was surprised! Our friends pork chop special was over cooked. We will give it another try, maybe,it was also very busy with business diners.
This restaurant is offers the best of both worlds. With charming and gracious dining rooms on the second and third floor -- and a lovely menu -- it is a good spot for a quiet and unhurried meal. Then we headed down to the lively first floor bar for dessert to hear a great piano player/singer, cover the Beatles, Bill Joel and other favorite songs.
This was a last minute chance find, as one of the few restaurants that had space for 4 of us on a Friday night. It’s a gorgeous old building with exceptional service and food to match. Would definitely return.
Went here with friends, loved it wasn’t too loud. Egg noddles were amazing , staff great, wine great, atmosphere great, loved it!!
Place was awesome! Very cosy, perfect place to catch up with someone. Beautiful decor, food was excellent, Everything was delicious. The 4 start on service was because our side dish (the only one we ordered) came out when we were just about done with our entree, I think they forgot. Definitely would go back.
1st time. Great vibe. Great service. Great food. Sums it up!
Food was absolutely wonderful as always. The best and freshest Branzino I've had in the city. A perfect lunch spot in midtown for a business lunch that impresses.
Great, comfortable steak and burger joint. We did the kobe burgers this time and they were cool perfectly and truly one of the best burgers in Manhattan. Substitute the truffle fries for regular and this meal is even better (which the server did easily). Caesar salad was terrific and the plate of small cookies after dinner were right out of the oven. Excellent meal.
Worth the trip if your in NYC by the 50's and looking for a restaurant. Moderately priced. Excellent menu and the dishes were fresh, flavorful and well prepared. Nice place, nice music, excellent wine list and the service was solid.
Wait was 30 minutes even with a reservation and then had to take a table in the bar or wait longer.
I’ve been here many times and this was disappointing
Bill's is a midtown Manhattan classic. Piano man sets the tone for a wonderful ambiance in a vintage building dating back to the 1920s. The homemade egg noodles with either the lobster or filet mignon is a must try. Mike Kennedy and Colin tend the bar -- first-rate service and wonderful conversationalists honed over 30 years of mixing it up with midtown's finest. Make Bill's a regular stop if you consider yourself in-the-know of Manhattan's power brokers.
We went here for Valentine's Day and it was seriously so romantic, beautifully decorated, tons of candles and flowers, delicious food and amazing service. Expensive, but worth every penny, so nice!
Amazing evening. Beautiful setting with great service. Always a favorite.
So glad that places like Bill's are still around. Lovely room, quiet adults, delicious food and terrific service. Thank you!!
Excellent menu! Food was great and service was perfect too.
Superb place. Food was terrific and the place is brilliant.
The restaurant has a cozy and clubby ambience that makes it the perfect setting for a business discussion on a cold day. The food was outstanding-my Branzino was cooked to perfection with wonderful flavors. I will definitely return!
Great find. Experiential in terms of decor and ambiance. Feeling like I’m dining centuries back. Loved the staircase and the narrow carpeted stairways, abundance of art, large tables, traditional bar and atmospheric private dining on 3rd floor. Menu was varied and the Cabernet wine very good. Overall a bit pricy but who cares when you are not rushed, find a perfect escape in busy mid town Manhattan and are served by handsome well dressed men. We girls don’t mind at all !
We were looking for a burger and a beer after a day of shopping and walking. If you don’t mind a $29 burger, this is a fun place to go. Live music and terrific service.
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner for our anniversary, and from the beginning when we were seated next to the candle-lit fireplace to our dessert, we were just constantly wowed! We started with two complimentary biscuits, then got the veal meatballs and the buttered egg noodles for an appetizer (mix them together, out of this world!), split their ribeye and french fries for an entree, and topped it off with a glass of port and some bitter yellow cake with a chocolate ganache sauce that was to die for. Everything we ate was perfected and delicious and we can’t wait to share this gem of a place! Its located in an old townhouse that allows its history to shine through. And the service was superb.
Excellent. Well done.
Fantastic! Beef Wellington was delicious!
This was our first time here, we had a fabulous evening with the most amazing service and food. The restaurant itself has an ambience like no other. Comfortable and welcoming in the heart of midtown. Will definitely recommend to friends and will be back!
This is the second time I have eaten here. The venue is very cool and the service is solid. My burger the first time was good but this time I had the steak sandwich and it was terrible. Really fatty. I literally left it on the plate.
Awesome piano player downstairs. Great atmosphere food
One of my favorite spots. Anytime I'm in the UES, it's my go-to spot. Amazing burgers, amazing interior.
A beautiful old townhouse filled with interesting lighting, artwork, and book. Great food and service.
My daughter and I popped in for a late lunch during the snowstorm and Bills was cozy and festive. The service was attentive and the food was delicious. I enjoyed steak tartare that was the perfect lunch and my daughter still raves that the truffle fries she had with her sandwich were the best ever! Full disclosure, I tried a few and I agree with her! We lived in NYC for 10 years before moving to Philadelphia and are still trying to figure out how to be tourists in the city we love! Bill’s is the perfect spot- convenient location with a neighborhood feel.
Service and food were excellent. It was my birthday and they brought out the most delicious cake for me. Excellent steakhouse.
Quirky quality establishment but v pricey. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Service and meal were excellent, they offer traditional steakhouse options, with a modern twist on several of the appetizers. We tried several dishes (There were 5 of us) - all delicious and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend this place, especially for special occasions
Thought the burger could have been bigger for the price. I would expect at least a half pound burger no matter where I am.
