Bill's Townhouse Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant was like visiting a historic site. It's been decorated beautifully and left alone in its time period so it has a marvelus feel to it. The service was outstanding and friendly and for me that was a huge plus. The food was excellent. I had the egg noodles and the cake which I had seen were notable items on other reviews and they were both very good.
My husband and I both would return and highly recommend.
Overall nice atmosphere. Feels pretty male with goat heads on the wall, but not off putting. Didn't do the bar downstairs, but felt very pubbish. Very attentive service. I had the pork chop with a side of brussel sprouts. Both good. Thick cut pork very well cooked. Not pink but not dry. Came with collard greens. A little salty but good. Brussel sprouts were good.
Overall pricing typical Manhattan. No desert, drinks vs wine, about $75/person including tip.
We loved Bill’s Townhouse. Amazing food and a very cool ambience. The music in the tavern was great, and it set the tone for a fun evening. Our food was excellent, and the steak was one of the best I’ve ever had. The manager was so friendly, and worked hard to make you feel right at home. It was my birthday, and they brought out a delicious cheesecake dessert at the end of our dinner. I highly recommend Bill’s Townhouse. We will be back, and I plan to spend many more special occasions here.
Thank you, everyone at Bill’s Townhouse for a wonderful evening and fantastic food.
We were disappointed in Bill's Townhouse. After a long day in the city, and a Broadway Show, we were looking forward to sitting and relaxing with some Margarita's and good food. The Margarita's were awful, mostly all tequila, so strong we had to send them back. A second round of Margarita's and they were just as bad. We ordered baked clams & shrimp cocktail. Ten minutes later we found out there was only one shrimp cocktail left, so we ordered it. Only to find 10 minutes later there were no Shrimp cocktails left. So a new appetizer order was placed, but came much later then our baked clams. To the restaurants credit or our waitress, she did take off the Margarita's off the bill and gave us a free appetizer. Manhattan re
Warm and welcoming - Love what the restaurant did with the upstairs. Downstairs is a bar, with a piano player, upstairs is beautiful room that is warm and inviting. Nice space, food was very good, I had the octopus appetizer, it was fresh and tender and the greens that it came with were also well dressed and delicious. The night we went it was quiet so we could actually hear ourselves speak!
The two bartenders downstairs are old, cranky and obnoxious. They ignored patrons and waitstaff so that they could talk to each other. They acted as if they were too good for anyone but themselves. The waitress upstairs was delightful. Don't order the bacon, it's just two big slaps of pork fat. I recommend the pork chop.
Overall a major disappointment. Expecting a more upscale setting. Service was nonexistent. When we did see the waiter he acted like he didn’t want to be there. The food was okay. The by the glass wine menu is a joke. It was supposed to be a birthday dinner for my husband Bill. It was a disaster
What a find.
We’ll definitely return when in NYC again.
The place itself, the service, the food were all superb. Nicely paced meal starting with the best ever mandarin vodka and tonic, the house made noodles w/sea salt and butter, Bills salad, salmon, the halibut and the yellow cake (butter) were scrumptious.
Me and four friends went for my birthday dinner, and we had the best experience. The food was delicious (I recommend their house made egg noodles), our waitress Shannon was super friendly and attentive and the manager was very kind. I loved the atmosphere and the live music on the lower level. We would definitely go back!
I'd been here many years ago but only knew it as a bar. The restaurant upstairs is really nice, and the service is impressive. The manager took time to greet us and even told us more about the place when we asked (including showing us the event space on the third floor). A nice change from the normal Midtown corporate-card places.
BAD SERVICE AND WAY TOO NOISY. The server was hard to understand and literally rushed us through our meal -- which was rather expensive, by the way, for what we ordered. They seated us downstairs in the bar area, which was WAY TOO NOISY. Will never go there again. Total waste of time and money. I would give Zero Stars for service if i could
Our food was mundane. Nothing memorable, but not terrible.
I order the chicken cutlet on rice with gravy with a side of spinach. This combination was adequate at best. The chicken cutlet was very salty, and frankly, I could not taste the chicken for the breading. The spinach hardly tasted of garlic.
That being said, the food was not terrible. The ambiance is nice and the staff is very helpful.
We loved Bill's townhouse! We ordered the bone in ribeye and it was cooked with a perfect Pittsburgh crust. Instead of potatoes we ordered the house made egg noodles and they were fabulous. We also had the asparagus with hollandaise sauce which was divine. They made our location extra special with a bills yellow cake for a special birthday. We will most definitely be back. If we rated them, we'd certainly give them five stars!
i was very excited to take a friend here for her birthday. Despite the reviews and photos i was disappointed at the bar. nothing special, there was supposed to be live piano music that we wanted to enjoy after dinner. we were surprised that because it was "a quiet night" they curtailed the piano player.
The main restaurant room is very quaint, cozy. The service was okay. the menu is a bit limited. the food was prepared well. Tasty but nothing special. We ordered the bone in filet and we were taken back by how small the portion was, especially for that price! the prep on the steak was very good and the char was excellent.
Despite being told that there was a birthday there was no special attention paid , ie candle. the waiter did however pick up the sorbet we ordered.
nice but below my expectations!
