Unbelievably poor service, was ignored most of the night, they didn't even offer a desert menu or check if we needed anything. They added on an extra £40 of drinks we didn't order on to our bill and it took 2 attempts for them to change it, with no apology. Really disappointing evening.

Excellent everyday lunch

Pleasant surroundings though draughty table near door. My fish finger sandwich was too big to eat as a sandwich and had chips as well. Need more light options for lunch.

Great to pop back in but the menu food and drinks let it down as it was the same same as every other eating establishment in the U.K. at this time and I hoped for something different.

When out for brunch and had bill’s brunch I was disappointed with the food and service. The sausages were overcooked and dry, the tomato’s had no seasoning on them and lacked a lot of flavour. I asked with eggs, mushrooms and black pudding and didn’t receive any extras. My girlfriend had the same but with eggs and her fried egg was burnt on the bottom. The beans where only like 2 spoons full. Their was picked onions that had no purpose being on the dish. We didn’t get a check back while we where there. I’ve been a few times and this was the worst I’m highly disappointed and unsatisfactorily. Needs a team talk and more communication between the staff and guests.

Facebook offer of ‘good times’ with drink free with main meal did not specify any restrictions. Got to the restaurant, told it wasn’t available on weekends. No attempt made by the restaurant to give any explanation

Service was chaotic. Didn’t seem like staff communicating with each other well. One of us for bread, and was given toast. One of us asked for an extra sausage in replacement of mushrooms and black pudding but then was charged. We asked for more sugar which did not arrived I ordered an extra coffee after our plates were taken away, which took far longer to come than it should have. All little things, but they add up! If you’re going to add an automatic service charge to everyone’s bill then the service should be worth it. The food was great! As was the decor and cleanliness, however the tables were very cramped together.

Excellent, atmosphere, food and service. We were served immediately and the staff were very attentive and friendly. We had a lovely garden seat outside.

The outside set up at Bill's in Reading is lovely. Service was prompt and friendly. We had 2 courses from the set menu which included a free drink. For only £13.95 we expected the portions might be smaller than standard but they were generous. All food was good and overall a lovely experience.

Lovely atmosphere we didn't feel rushed at all and the food and cocktails were beautiful!

Varied menu and good food. Nice decor. Unfortunately the service wasn't great. We weren't given the set lunch menu (even though we went at 12.30) and had to ask 2 different waiters for it. Not all of us had finished eating but the waiter started clearing our plates - twice!! When the bill came we were charged for drinks we didn't have, so it's fortunate we checked.

Asked for a jug of water three times which we finally got about half an hour later, when the food came out I asked for some ketchup and Mayo which never arrived! Ice creams at the end were all in one dish which was a bowl of mush! Normally Bills is great but won’t be rushing back now.

A lovely evening sitting outside in the glorious sunshine with friends. Meal was absolutely delicious and good value for money.

Our only real criticism was the state of the ladies toilets. Broken seats, toilet roll all over the floor and the sinks were filthy - not what you’d expect in such a place.

You got most of it spot on Bill’s….don’t forget the details.

For this reason alone, we will eat elsewhere next time.

Clearly a popular and busy venue, judging by the number of tables that were in use. The menu choices for breakfast and brunch are various, however on my visit the, 'pancakes' were unavailable. I shall return again another day...

Service slow. Got served food before drink. Had to ask for cutlery. Scrambled egg on toast, looked like it was made from 1 egg, was cold. Had to ask for butter. Table by us got served first, ordered pancakes. We ordered after, I ordered pancakes. We got our food first. They were then told no more pancakes, so had to reorder one meal. Staff all over the place, not looking like they knew what to do. Over priced, wont return.

We went for a family birthday and as always food was great. Just ashame this time round the staff weren't very welcoming when we arrived and when I took my son to the toilet later in the meal I had two staff barge past us knocking us both into other guests and didn't apologies. Our table waiter however was friendly and helpful, just ashame a few things tainted our visit.

ordered scrambled eggs with toast and was very disappointed to receive what can only be described as overcooked scrambled omlett. The toast had gone cold and there was no sign of any butter, we had to ask for it. Not the breakfast I was expecting for the price.

Always busy with an ambiance to match this place is a must try.
However it’s a bit hit and miss with regards to service and food. Both can be slow and the food sometimes a bit on the cool side for me yet nevertheless I still return as the good days outweigh the bad.

really nice food and lovely setting, waited 20 minutes for a waiter to come over and ask for drinks, food arrived after 30-40 minutes wait and they kept forgetting to get the table a jug of water

From the moment we arrived the service was impeccable. The food was served efficiently and was delicious.

Food was nice , service at times wasn’t amazing or terrible was just standard. We got what we asked for but soon as we said what we wanted she took note and would walk off .

We were seated outside, 2 of my table were older and were helpfully directed to the ground floor loos! The food was delicious and well-presented. The service was good, the waiter forgot to provide tap water for the table but it was quite busy so this is understandable. The chairs/table were comfortable, there was some noise from nearby tables (group of mothers with young children) but not too bad. We would come again. Prices are very good and quality of food and drink is very high.

Wow, what a lovely find! After meeting my friend after nearly 2 years (same as many people) we wanted somewhere quiet with good food so we could catch up.

The service was excellent, very attentive.
The food was lovely, I opted for the mac & cheese whilst my friend had the fish pie - I dint like fish but even I thought it looked amazing!

We sat outdoors, which was very comfortable. We do plan to go there again and I'm sure it will become out regular meeting place! Even if it is just for a drink :-)
