Great food and great service. HOLLY was very attentive and professional. Great choice on menus and options.
With reference to my booking below. I came for breakfast with my nephew and sister in law at 10.30am yesterday, the restaurant looked busy from outside, but the staff managed to add another seat to accommodate. We were shown to our table and before we sat down, we were asked what drinks we wanted.
I felt like we were already being rushed so we took our seats and looked at the menu, the drinks didn't arrive until 15 minutes after we were seated, the Tea was nice and hot but the Lattes were only luke warm.
The waitress came back for our order 10 minutes later, we ordered one Traditional breakfast and two Smashed Avocado on toast, with poached eggs, one with salmon and one with bacon.
It was at least 15 - 20 minutes before our food came out. Everything looked alright when it arrived but just as I was starting to eat my food I found the toast was hard and the poached eggs one was slightly warm and the other cold and neither were really runny, my sister in laws was the same, it was not enjoyable and most of it was left on the plate. I did say to the waitress when she came to collect the plates that we did not enjoy our food and told her why and she just shrugged her shoulders and said OH and cleared the table, no Manager was called.
I was not happy with this response so we asked for the bill, that took ages to process and it had a service charge of £5.00, which I didn't pay. We paid £45.00 for a breakfast that was very disappointing and quite expensive, although it was very very busy there didn't seem to be enough staff on duty.
Bill's is one of my favourite restaurants and I have eaten there many times over the years and have never had any cause to complain.
Regards Miss Pauline Spencer
Nice choice of good, good friendly service and nice atmosphere
We had breakfast at Bill’s and the menu options are always good.
Really enjoyed our food. It looked good and tasted good.
We booked our table so there was no waiting and the service was quick.
Been to Bills many times, and recently breakfast which is excellent, best in town.
We were greeted at the door and shown to our table, which we had booked. First we ordered drinks and a nibble with olives and special bread, which was excellent as a starter. Soon we ordered our main course and did not have to wait too long. Our dishes were great, and our waitress looked after us well.
It was our wedding anniversary, and we are so glad we chose to eat at Bill's.
I was very disappointed. The food was all over cooked. Fries burnt, macaroni cheese topping burnt, burger burnt.
I found the food overpriced and sadly lacking in quality. I won't be coming again
Lovely food, good vegetarian choices, absolutely wonderful service from friendly staff who delivered the right orders and just enough buzz from conversation to feel lively. This was an impromptu meal out and it was great. Definitely recommend the mojo marinated chicken and the sorbet. Yummy and fitted in with Slimming World. Even better.
An hour wait for food, & then they brought adult food first 🙄
It was a very pleasant experience. The whole family of three generations enjoyed the evening.
Very enjoyable meal it was very quiet on this day but the staff were busy and jolly which it made the restaurant busier than it was very clever.
Have eaten here many times before and love it here. Service was quite poor on this particular day
Great food , excellent service and setting just perfect
Very enjoyable food was good and service was quite quick.I would recommend.
Everything was great but when presented with the bill we were surprised to see a large gratuity automatically added.
Once removed we were happy to tip our usual way.
The staff seemed committed and professional. Obviously a good management.
Another very good visit to Bill’s. Staff excellent from start to finish.
Good attentive service but prices ridiculous - £11ish for a Caesar salad: 2 tiny, flat leathery bits of chicken, couple of cranberries and the rest flaccid lettuce. The families buttermilk chicken, steak and (dry) chicken skewers were slightly better but sorry at nearly £90 (12.5% service charge!) I was not impressed!
I booked on Sunday for a birthday. Arrived in plenty of time and was giving my booking name to the person at the door. As we were doing that another sever advised us to move back towards the door. We were two steps in to allow people to come and go out of the door. She asked us twice in not the best tone as we were ‘far to far inside’ not noticing we moved in to allow staff to come and go and we’re in the middle of giving our booking name.
It was an off start to the meal but everything else was lovely.
The bar was running slow but the waitress came and let us know so we we’re waiting too long.
The food was great, good attention for an allergy too which was refreshing.
Lovely meal, would go again for the pancakes alone.
Waitress lost a pint over one of our guests and glass everywhere. Felt it could have been handled better. Vegan choice not available and other vegan choice very poor.
Food was nice, my non alcoholic drink was same price as a G&T! Very nice and helpful staff.
The restaurant itself was lovely, but the breakfast was a little underwhelming unfortunately.
We had also booked an outdoor table, and even with tonnes of outdoor seating, our reservation was not accommodated, and when asked we were told there are no tables.
So a little disappointed overall!
Such a shame, I have been using Bill’s for the past two years now Gloucester and Cheltenham and have never had a bad experience until yesterday. I took my Son and his partner for breakfast. The guy that greets was clearly stressed as he wasn’t very friendly at all. We had to wait almost an hour before eating and even when we asked for extra sugar the waitress that served us ignored so someone else ended up getting it. Not a good experience, sorry.
Took my daughter to Bills for a birthday breakfast, fantastic service and lovely food.
Servers were friendly and the menu was varied. Calamari was excellent, minute steak very mediocre. Rosemary fries were good and the chicken dumplings were great.
Everything was just, ok, coffee was ok, other meals we ordered were ok.
I wouldn't go back for a meal but possibly for breakfast.
Poor breakfast. Not too sure why but sausages were very hard and unable to cut with a knife. When mentioned it to our server, we were both told that’s the way they are cooked. Very cheeky adding a service charge to the bill, for breakfast!!!
Fantastic food and great atmosphere- thoroughly enjoyed our visit
Excellent food and staff really attentive. Recommended
Food was very average, looked good on the menu but the food was disappointing. My chicken was tough and dry. I wasn’t going to have a sweet but when i saw the crumble had gooseberries in it I went for it. Unfortunately there was only one gooseberry in it. Won’t be going back soon.
We ate outside in the sunshine - lovely day, so that really made it. Holly was our waitress, she was helpful, professional yet friendly and very pleasant. Food was excellent and whol experience was enjoyed by all.
My friend and I had the fish pie.Nice flavours with a lot of fish in it.
Good food and service, the steak was cooked as I asked.
Me and my family really liked and enjoyed the meal and time spent in this restaurant. Thank you.
The breakfasts were delicious, and the juices were also very good.
Food was amazing & staff were very friendly & helpful compliments to the chef!
Great evening excellent service first time visited enjoyed evening
Food and service were excellent. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Couldn't fault it. Felt safe also 👌
Food was good but mixed up the starters
Friendly, helpful staff. Food good. Time to wait for food was just right.
Amazing food and brilliant staff working there. My 6 year old and I went for breakfast and she’s already asking when we are going back!!!
Food and Service was lovely.
We didnt realise when they offered us water that it would cost £3.75 a bottle.
And we werent impressed with the service charge that was added, Customers should be able to decide whether they would like to leave a tip and how much and for this a tip wasnt left.
There was also a large table who were very loud and at one point another table shushed them from there table. The staff should be aware of noisy tables and politely ask them to keep the noise down esp considering it was very busy.
I would come again but will be more aware of the added extras.
