Food was amazing! We love the new menu! Service was poor. Was only 4 tables on the restaurant and the waitress wasn’t coming around enough. Had to wave her over for another drink
Lunch at Bight was wonderful! We sat indoors because weather was questionable. Ordered the poutine (something I don’t usually eat) but the description in the menu caught my attention.....they had me at ‘braised brisket’! It was delicious! Service was great and we never felt rushed! Can’t wait to get back and use the patio!
As a vegetarian there was literally a salad and a dessert I could eat. So that’s why i have it a lower ranking. I will say the others I was with said the food was ‘okay’. My husbands chicken was burnt but a friend had the fish and loved it. Another person at the table said the bacon pizza was “okay” but she prefers pizza from Boston Pizza?! However, sitting on the water was amazing and we tried both desserts and they were delicious.
Took some out-of-towners and they loved it! I have celiacs disease and found many many options and they were willing to modify/accommodate any requests.
Very disappointed. With the reopening of Bight I was very disappointed in the menu and food. We ordered the calamari which was a "feature item" not on the menu. It came on a bed of tomato sauce which was not appealing. We also ordered the charcuterie board which was medicore - it had better options before when I had it in the past but overall it was alright. For the main course I ordered the quinoa salad (how it is listed on the menu) and it came as a spinach salad with about a tablespoon of quinoa. Spinach was listed as one of the last ingredients on the menu and so they should change the name of it to spinach salad. Overall the staff were friendly and service was fine (although they did not offer to do anything about us not liking the calamari appetizer). Personally I will not be back. Such a disappointment as this used to be one of my favourite places to eat in Thunder Bay.
Staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, the food was beyond spectacular and the patio is magical! 10/10 experience, one of my favourite places to eat!
it was nice to be dining patio style , the staff were right on the sanitation aspect, it would be nice if they continued to be more diligent about sanitory cleaning in the future.
We were on the patio for dinner for our anniversary. It wasn’t too hot but warm. Bight has a very nice patio with a lovely view of the lake. We shared a Caesar salad as a starter and both had the gnocchi bolognese which was delish! We also shared a bottle of Shiraz.
Very nice evening, would definitely go back.
Server was fantastic. Wonderful outside seating! Thanks
Waitress was very friendly and accommodating to our needs!
Delicious food, great service, good sized portions, we all loved our food!
Good experience overall. Not a fan of the “light” menu but understand the need for it during this time. Great atmosphere.
I would just suggest umbrellas for the patio tables. Those metal tear drops or what ever they are reflect more sun then already beating down on a person while dining. Over all great but should offer non alcohol drinks. We had the Cucumber Basil Gin Smash without the gin and were still charged full price.
Given the situation with covid-19 I am completely understanding as to requiring reservations and limiting the time guests stay to ensure others can dine. We showed up early for our reservation and were told the table ahead of us was just needing to pay. We were instructed to walk around the marina and come back. We did just that and the table had still not gotten up, we waited another 10 minutes and the hostess offered us a different table but in the sun. If you’re requiring people to abide by the time slot the other table should’ve been asked to leave as the next reservation had arrived. Our server was very nice but oh god was he slow. Food took forever to come out, it was good but just not worth the time we waited for it to get to the table. We sat and ordered by 7:50pm and did not leave until After 10 pm. The ambiance was good and the set up was nice but just too long to wait for food for us to go back soon.
Just felt wonderful with good food and service 👍
The food and service were excellent, the outdoor patio was comfortable and with social distancing in place no one was too close to our little group.
Thanks for a great lunch!
It's a bit expensive, but in a very nice location. The atmosphere is wonderful
Enjoyed a lovely evening at Bight. It was a Sunday night and quite busy since many restaurants in the area are closed on Sunday. The team was understaffed but maintained their composure and were pleasant and provided really good service.
The food was delicious.
This was a very special occassion for us. Overall experience was mediocre. The choice of food was very limited. Food took a very long time to prepare eventhough the restaurant was pretty much empty. The server didn't acknowledge our special occassion but she was very nice otherwise.
First time to Thunder Bay and the recommendation from a local friend lived up to the expectation. Great selection of food/drinks and the service was spot on.
I will definitely come again, when in town on business.
Excellent food and service - great with omissions/substitutions for food allergies and intolerances. Nice quiet, relaxing atmosphere.
Restaurant at the Marina of the city with some nice views of the lake and surrounding area. Restaurant is upscale serving contemporary food with some Asian fusion. Food is sourced locally when possible. Food is typically well prepared. I have had many of the items on the menu including the duck breast on a bed of kimchi rice that I had tonight. I specifically asked for the duck to be cooked medium and it was. However, the duck had the taste and texture of being brined, which I don't remember previously. So, I didn't enjoy it as much this time. My friend did enjoy his, however. Notable items on the menu include the burger, pizzas, fig and halloumi salad, charcuterie board, poutine, shrimp and lobster and the duck breast on kimchi rice. Reasonable wine list with prices for everyone. Typically packed during the summertime due to the activity in the marina. Much quieter outside of this period. Can be loud. Service this evening was excellent and attentive.
First time visiting Bight. I was in Thunder Bay visiting my significant other who is working in the area. Read some reviews online, thought we’d check it out. It was a Sunday evening. There was only 1 other table with guests. We were there roughly two hours and by the time we left there were about 6 tables with diners in total. The restaurant itself is pretty and trendy with a simplistic aesthetic. Service was very friendly. Could use more varieties of craft beer. The vegetable pakoras were very, very overcooked. Extremely deep fried so they were hard to cut through, and just tasted semi burned. The white bean dip with focaccia was yummy, but they had no focaccia so substituted baguette. Between the two appetizers the bean dip was much much better. The burger was decent but lacked seasoning. The thin crust Mediterranean pizza was fantastic. All said and done, I’d give it another try. Would be nice to see a few more vegan/vegetarian options.
People were ice skating in the mini ice rink behind us. That was really charming :)
I wasn’t really blown away with my dinner.
Not very much flavour.
The cocktails are always awesome but I wouldn’t recommend going here for dinner.
Dinner for 4 with an app and tip was over 200 and none of us were blown away.
The service was excellent but it was also a slow night. It was windy, damp and ccccold. We all had fish and chips with coleslaw; fish serving was large and excellent. Far too many fries, no one finished them. $10.00 for 6 oz. stock wine is excessive!
Bring your gold dust...?.?
over all our food was ok, nothing horrible, nothing fantastic. However, if you would like your filet rare I would recommend ordering something else. Mine came med-rare at very best. When I sent it back it took 45 minutes to get a new one. Everyone else had finished and waiting to order desert or after dinner coffees. At that point there was only one other table of 6 in the place so not sure why it took so long. I understand this is not a steak house but if you can not serve rare ( assuming because the filets are frozen) then suggest another meal option or advise that it will take 45 minutes.
There is very little atmosphere here, if you are looking for a very quiet place for average dinner this is your place. If your group is looking for a lively atmosphere to start your evening, this is not it.
The location is beautiful, the restaurant is tastefully decorated and could be so much better. The lighting is harsh and lighting of the fire place would add some added warmth to the atmosphere (the temperature was comfortable). I don't recall any music playing, I don't care for it loud but a little background music would be nice.
a hint to management, your restaurant is big enough and was quite empty, a larger square table (or arrange tables in a square) to sit a table of 8 would be a nice touch, its difficult to have conversations at long tables.
I had not been to Bight in a few years but little has changed and I don't think I will be in any hurry to go back.
When Bight opened, it was full of energy, high quality and creative ideas. It has lost all three. The menu is largely unchanged, the quality of food has declined, the wait staff is not knowledgeable and the whole place lacks energy. On Saturday evening, there were few customers. This is a restaurant that needs attention; it needs a turn-around. We live in Minnesota and visit Thunder Bay a dozen times each year. Bight has been our favorite; we have recommended it to several of our friends. No more. In fact, we will not return for at least 12 months, in hopes of a revival.
After we departed, we checked other good places before returning home. Lot 66 was full, Tomlin was busy, Caribou was busy and the Keg was busy too. We hope that someone will re-energize Bight. Or we hope that someone will purchase Bight devote this wonderful space to a high quality restaurant again.
