Biga on the Banks Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I were ther for our monthly date. The service was absolutely amazing. He was knowlegable about the menu. I have an allergy to red dye and I was able to get clarifications on menu items that might have been a trigger for me. I appreciated the extra time it took. Thank you for a wonderful time.
We took the family here for my husbands birthday dinner, food was good they did have a kids menu whichI I was curious about. Very nice upscale restraunt, would be great for a date night. I will definatly reccomend this place to family and friends visiting the area.
We love Biga. We eat here before shows at the Majestic a few times a year. The food is always delicious, and the service is always amazing. Favorites include the habenero scallops, the venison, and the grand marnier soufflé. Great wine list, great cocktail list. It’s pricey, but worth every penny. If you valet your car, you can leave it until after the show. It’s a short walk to the theater.
We heard it was the best so we went there expecting that. We wanted a romantic evening in San Antonio on the River walk. All was well until they had a major blunder they had a party and they mic was not just on in that room it was blaring over all the other dinner guests. The ambiance went from pleasant to obnoxious. Very loud idiot on the microphone. After quite a few minutes they finally figured out how to cut it off from the main diners. After that we enjoyed dinner again.
Outstanding service and great food! I made a reservation for my wife and my 10 yr anniversary. We couldn’t have asked for better service as everyone made sure we had a great experience and celebration. The food was amazing and enjoyed the 11-spice axis and quail. Top-notch all around, Biga Staff!
We went to Biga 2 years ago on Valentine’s Day and fell in love with it! We couldn’t wait to come back this weekend...but maybe our memories were overinflated. The food was good (but not great) and the atmosphere is nice. But the portions were amazingly small...especially for the price. After a $200 meal, I sorta expect to be full! Not certain if we will go back a 3rd time. If we do, it might just be for drinks and dessert.
My wife and I travel from Katy to San Antonio for a long weekend retreat. Biga is one of our favorite places to eat on the river. We had a reservation but arrived about 30 minutes early and were graciously greeted and then seated early. This was Restaurant Week, so we had a 3-course meal with wine pairings that were excellent. I had beef filet, my wife had tuna and both were excellent. Chris, our waiter, was informative, attentive and very professional. This was probably our fourth or fifth time to return, and we've never been disappointed.
Surprisingly good. I am a chef, so I am pretty tough on restaurants.
My favorites were the Blackberry steamed pudding with Crème anglaise. You don't see it much because it's a classically trained dessert you learn in pastry school. I also enjoyed the Seafood Bouillabaise, the broth was well developed and one where you enjoy every last drop.
So in my opinion, I'll go again and I hope it will delight again in the future.
I have been a fan of Bruce Auden since he first arrived in San Antonio. Had not been to Biga in a long time but it exceeded expectations. Still love the fried oyster appetizer. All entrees were good but venison and quail was the show stoppers. All desserts were great. Service was attentive but casual--my favorite. Asked myself why we Locals don't venture down to the river more often.
Good wine list, excellent wait staff, nice ambience indoor or patio dining. Large portions so we shared, welcome with a small charge. Filet was cooked perfectly, sides were large, bread is delish.
This is a lovely restaurant for couples with an interesting menu, ie antelope and quail as well as typical offerings.
Our server forgot two side dishes, which was disappointing. The hostess was very accommodating and the bar drinks were excellent. The fish dish was good but nothing special. Wet also had a very nice quinoa dish with sweet potatoes. The layers of flavours were very good. Thank you for the vegan options.
Tucker was a fabulous waiter. Very professional. He guided us through the menu. And let us sample the wine and beer before ordering a bottle.
I had the Pre Fixe dinner. Red Snapper was superb. The Hubs had the Antelope & Quail. Quite unique & delicious. Sticky Toffee pudding was to die for. We had a table by the window, overlooking the River Walk. It was a perfect dinner.
