Biga on the Banks

It was a very nice family dinner. The food was yummy, but the space could use a bit of an update.
Starting with calling in a special request (for our anniversary) to the hospitality before, during, and after our gorgeous meal, Biga's superior staff did not disappoint! Our sever Chris was as charming as he was patient and and knowledgeable a true professional who made us feel pampered and at yet still at home. Also the bartender Roy and his vast knowledge of Texas whiskeys, helped to navigate Biga's massive cocktail and whiskey lists. We couldnt imagine a better staff to host the preposterously sumptuous food. From the genius touch of squid ink pasta nests under the texas fried oysters, to the tempura okra that accompanied the seared magnificence they call a ribeye... it was all amazing. THANK YOU!
Beaux was a great server. He explained all the foods to me and was courteous.I had the venison and quail for the first time and it was delicious!!! I also ordered the soufflé which wasn’t good; it was my first time. I ordered the Jade Martini which seemed to lack alcohol.I plan to go back by the end of the summer.-Corey
I highly recommend this restaurant for a fine dining experience in Downtown San Antonio. Kudos to the chef and staff for a wonderful meal and service.
Girls Weekend in San Antonio. Great foot and exceptional service.
Our family loves Biga. We eat hear two or three times a year for the past 10 years. It’s always great . Food temperature and seasoning is perfect. Staff is fantastic .
Great food and cocktails! The English toffee pudding is a must!
Great server in Chris.
Dropping valet service was big mistake. Makes us less likely to return.
Great service. All food came out fast and hot. Venison, quail and rack of lamb all highly recommended. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, LEAVE WITHOUT TRYING THE STICKY TOFFEE. That desert is life changing. Would recommend.
We celebrated our 40th anniversary and had a scrumptious dinner. Great value with the spring special. Service was superb! They gave us a beautiful dessert decorated for our anniversary.
A must try for fine dining experience! Thanks for the memories.
Awesome experience, great menu, highly recommend
I normally recommend this place because of the food, but warn friends that the wait staff isn't always friendly. I was pleasantly surprised by Thomas. I have never had the staff there be so friendly and helpful. Appreciate him making sure that my husband enjoyed his Father's day meal!
Biga is one of the best restaurants in town. Our table was ready upon arrival. We had some cocktails and appetizers which were out of this world. The scallops and octopus were perfect for a summer night. We had a chickpea soup which was outstanding as well as the beet salad. The lamb chops are everyone’s favorites and the venison and quail are worth every bite... overall, an outstanding experience. Biga continues to be a favorite for food, service and value.
Waiting staff and cleaning staff were absolutely fabulous. Food was well presented and cooked as per our liking. Pity that on arrival the young lady who showed us to our table just pointed it out and dropped the menu on the table and went off.................no introduction to the restaurant, no introduction to who would be our waiter/waitress. In fact I consider this extremely rude.
The food was excellent, one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The service was excellent, the server made perfect recommendations on the food and the wine, to help us enjoy the restaurant. It was a very special night!
We had a wonderful dinner prior to a show at the Empire Theater. Our server Chris and his assistant were knowledgeable, professional and attentive without being intrusive. We shared the Chicken Fried Oysters, they were nice especially with the mustard based hollandaise sauce they were served with. My wife had the Close to Boullibaise and liked it very much. I had the 8oz, sirloin and it was done to perfection. We both had dessert, she had the apple cobbler and I had the Toffee Truffle Cake, both of us liked the desserts.
The dress is business casual to classy.
Excellent venue for a gathering of family and friends.
Date with my wife. Visiting from Illinois for a 5-day conference. Day 3. Best of 3 fine dining restaurants. Unusual and unique with an accent on keeping it Texas. Superb service, cocktails and food. Highly recommend this for a treat to your senses.
Usually we love it but my soft shell crab was under cooked and not edible. And then waiter had attitude. He should of been great about instead of defensive
I cannot rave enough about this restaurant. My husband and I were out for a romantic dinner away from the kids, and they sat us in a beautiful seating remote from the main dining area. The chef put together the most amazing tasting menu for us at the last minute and the service was impeccable! We will continue to place this in our regular rotation of restaurants while in town!!!
Ronan - one of the food runners- was exceptional. Jose also proved to be a good waiter. The Romaine salad was nice - not too fond of the acidic dressing and the cheese conceit was slightly too thick and a little too stale, but adding the chicken-fried oysters made the salad a solid deal. The bread, as always was exceptional. The flight of rosé paired nicely with seafood. The seafood stew was marvelous - highlighted Texan seafood very well. The creme brûlée was also nice - competing well with the fingerprint cookie garnish. Overall a very good meal.
Reviewed on yelp. Great service. Terrible food. Ribeye meat tasted bad / old. Interior decor needs refreshing. Great wine list. Dessert was terrible and tasted cheap.
Everything was excellent. Prompt service, excellent food. Beautiful view.
This was my second visit to Biga on the Banks and it did not disappoint. In fact it was even better than I had remembered. I was there for a business dinner and it was the perfect place to dine between the food quality, ambiance, and quiet atmosphere. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Foie Gras was nicely paired with a sparkling rose, the bread basket was delightful, the quail and venison were perfectly cooked and seasoned eaten with the suggested Rhone pairing, and the Sticky Toffee Pudding w/ Caffè Americano was a happy ending. The food and atmosphere made for a great dining experience, but all paled in comparison to the extraordinary team work of the waitstaff, Thomas and Rodger et al - good job guys! - tonight was the antithesis of the dismal dining experience at 1718 Steakhouse across from the Alamo last night.
Really nice dinner and wine in a beautiful restaurant. Each course was perfectly prepared and served. We especially enjoyed the Pinot Noir, the quail and venison, and the trio of deserts. Highly recommend Biga on the Banks for a special evening.
Industry couple having a late date night, Ben was our server and did a great job! We tried the soft shell crab special, seared foie, rack of lamb and soufflé. Everything was exceptional. Courses were timed well, service was well paced and overall we left very happy. Looking forward to the next time!
Fantastic service! Food was delicious
I celebrated my birthday this past weekend at your fabulous restaurant and was treated like family. The Staff was very attentive and our waiter Chris was very knowledgeable and charming. The food was so delicious and felt very honored to have Chef Auden personally wish me a Happy Birthday. A special thank you to my grandaughter Robyn for making my Birthday a night I'll never forget!
Great service & delicious, unique food!
Imaginative menu, elegant presentation, attentive but not obtrusive service make this a stellar restaurant every time. A memorable occasion!
Loved the axis quail dish,,,foie gras was stellar,,waiter Cesar made excellent wine and meal recommendations. Will return!!
Excellent - highly recommend.
Waiter was professional, friendly and knew when to appear to refill the water glass or remove an empty dish without being intrusive. Have always enjoyed the ambiance and value for an excellent evening of being pampered. Would recommend to anyone with a desire for truly remarkable food, service and setting.
We were celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary and my wife was so surprised when we were greeted by all members of the staff as they all wished us a Happy Anniversary. What a special touch! The food was absolutely delightful! We'll come again!
Loved this restaurant! I had the lamb that was done perfectly, the service was impeccable, the staff was so helpful and attentive and the view onto the water was great. The dessert sampler is also a must, as all 3 were great options for dessert! I would highly recommend this restaurant and would definitely come back next time I’m in town!
Great we loved the restaurant. Food wonderful....
The Orange Soufflé was out of this world.
Jose our was our server and he did an excellent job.
