Excellent restaurant. Fantastic food. High quality presentation. Great for a very special occasion.
Overall an excellent experience! A full 5 stars. The venison and quail were outstanding. The wine selection is awesome as well.
Always great food and service.
Wonderful staff that is all very well trained from host to busboy. The food was delicious! Ever single course. My husband and I went during restaurant week and it happened to be our anniversary. They gave us the best seat in the house with a great view as well as some privacy. For appetizers, the quail was so juicy and flavourful, as a Caribbean person the plantains gave me life. For mains, the lamb was tender and delicious I did not want to share and the seafood bouillabaisse was fine. The desert was a wonderful cherry on the cake.
It was the first time either myself and boyfriend went. It was perfect. We had a lovely view of riverwalk from our table. Everything was perfect from start to finish.
It was romantic. But also suitable for small gathering of friends and family.
We will be back.
It was my friend’s first time here, and she said it was the best meal she’d ever had. I’ve had the opportunity enjoy Biga since I was a child, and it’s just as good and reliable as ever.
I expected ALOT less being on the Riverwalk! Awesome! Food, service and atmosphere. Parking can be better!
Third time here and each time is a memorable meal. The daily menu option at $35 for three courses or $45 for four (an extra appetizer) is an outstanding value and typically come with a bonus amuse from the chef. In my last visit, that consisted of an espresso cup sized glass of cold cauliflower soup with some red pepper essence on top - it was amazing. I didn't want to eat anything afterward until the last bit of taste fully left my mouth. Another reviewer said everyone must have Biga's Sticky Toffee Pudding before they die. I agree -it's phenomenal.
It has been way too long since our previous visit to Biga - one of the truly great restaurants in San Antonio.
Excellent food efficiently served by experienced wait staff in an elegant setting.
We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary tonight and there’s no better place than Biga on the Banks. The food was incredible as expected and service the best.
Although not falsely advertised, the 'Close to Bouillabaisse' wasn't close enough for me. The actual seafood was beautifully prepared, not overcooked and was impressive in its proportions. Hardly French provincial, it was much more spicy and aromatic than I expected. But again, no misleading on your part.
Taste-wise and in appearance, the orange Souffle was shear heaven. But was the top crust too hard? I didn't have a knife to cut it and swallowed it whole quite ungraciously.
The food and service were outstanding! We would return here without a restaurant weeks discount
Server was great but no valet parking.
Wonderful food & service, as always!
A fabulous Restaurant Week meal! One of our all time favorite restaurants that never disappoints! Great food and service!
Food was amazing. Service and back story of the restaurant, wine, food was very detailsd
Biga doesn’t disappoint! My husband and I had the 4 course restaurant week menu with wine pairings which was an EXCELLENT value. We were even more pleased that the “almost boulliabase” was included on that menu. Try it... The fruit Pavlova offered as dessert was flavorful, but missed the mark on texture (it was overdone), however the sticky toffee pudding was perfect. All in all a fabulous meal.
Gabriel was our server for the evening and was a delight. Very friendly and went into detail about every item on the menu and answered every question we had. His service was on point, water was never empty and would always check on us. The food was great as well as my old fashioned. We had a great meal and fantastic experience. Gabriel, gracias amigo!
Went for restaurant week, enjoyed the selection and thought it was a good deal for the 3-course and wine pairing, would definitely recommend for the prix fixe meals! Service was a little different from table to table with service speed and wine pours but overall a good deal.
We came here for restaurant week, and did the 3 course meal with wine pairing. We had the chicken oysters with squid ink linguine and quail for the first course, mahi-mahi and rack of lamb for the 2nd course, and sticky toffee and mint chocolate mousse for the last course. Food was excellent and the portions were a good size. Service was good but we wished our server gave us some information regarding the different courses and wine. Overall, we had a great time and will come back again.
This was our first time to Biga on the Banks so we had high expectations. Restaurant was beautiful, service was absolutely outstanding, 5 star! Food was simply not to the level we had anticipated and maybe we just caught the kitchen on a bad night. Two business groups made the atmosphere a little loud and maybe that put some additional pressure on the kitchen. In any event a nice place.
Fantastic experience as always save for a large group of clearly inebriated guys whose volume overwhelmed those around them. But the food and service was fantastic.
Steve did a great job serving us. It is noteworthy that Steve has been with the Chef (Bruce Auden) for 20 years as a server. I says a lot about the culture of this restaurant. I used Open Table and it worked flawlessly, even the note I put indicating it was our 43rd anniversary was picked up on with the hostess greeting us with a nice acknowledgement of our anniversary and the desert with a nice "Happy 43rd Anniversary" written in chocolate on the desert plate! The food was outstanding, chicken fried oysters on squid ink linguine, Bouillabaisse, red snapper, romaine heat salad with fried oysters. You won't be disappointed with this restaurant if you are looking to pamper yourself and your tastebuds!
My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary. The food was incredible and the ambiance exceptional. Our server, Chris Sanders went out of his way to ensure that we had a truly memorable experience. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
Biga is a SA icon in restaurants- as always our experience was fabulous. One can rely on that!
The food was on point and service was outstanding! Never disappointed
Celebrating birthdays and anniversary’s with friends!
Restaurant week menu was great!
Everything was good. Nothing was amazing. We were seated next to a very loud table so it was hard to hear ourselves think. We had 4 courses with four wines that were “premium” although we were not given any information on any of them.
We had reservations at 7 but the hostess sat us far in the back where it was dark. It was my parents first time there and wish we had better seating, especially since I had reservations. We asked to be moved to a table that was more lit and if we could sit by the window. We were moved to another area a little better but they sat someone by the window as we were being moved. Super disappointed. Food was great and great servers.
Fantastic all around. You have to try the souffle.
I would recommend with a caveat. We were there for the Culinaria event with the special menu. The appetizers were all very good. My husbands scallops were good but they were in a mystery sauce. I was disappointed that the filet had been replaced with a hanger steak that can be dry and tough so I ordered the lamb rack. It was just ok, it didn’t melt in your mouth as described by our waiter. Our waiter was attentive at first but when the dessert came he never showed to take coffee orders nor did he bring my third wine pairing. When he came with the bill I pointed out he’d forgotten my wine and he said, oh I’ll go get it. I said it was too late. He picked up the bill and refigured it with half price wine and practically threw it at us. Not gracious at all.
Been here before and once again not disappointed. We were having a family dinner before our daughter heads back off to college. Greeted upon arrival, seated immediately at a table overlooking the Riverwalk. Our server Britney was outstanding. Fully knowledgeable of the menu and very attune to our needs and tastes as we decided on the meal. My wife and I opted for the San Antonio Culinary weeks price fix spring fare 3 course menu and daughter had the pan seared Mahi Mahi main course. From the appetizer to the salad to the main course to the desert, everything was perfectly prepared and presented. This place is one of the Gems along the Riverwalk and well away from the hustle and bustle of the main river walk area. Definitely will return soon.
This is the best place in San Antonio for a quiet romantic night out. The food is 5 star and so is the service. Book early for Friday / Saturday as times fill up quick! Enjoy!!
A wonderful experience. From hostess to waiters to chef. All was amazing!
Love the food. It was restaurant week and enjoyed the wine pairings.
Wait staff is exceptional, always is. Atmosphere is lovely.
WE LOVE BIGA and come regularly. Coming during Restaurant Week is a real bonus. Dinner menu was fantastic. Party of 6 ordered a variety of the first course & 2nd course options and we were all pleased. Deseerts were fabulous too -- quite late in coming, thus the 4 stars instead of 5 on service. But they made it up to us. thank you Biga!
Went to celebrate anniversary must restaurants acknowledge with a special treat. Biga did not do anything special
Delicious food beautifully presented. Staff was warm and welcoming, energetic and helpful.
We had a table of six and each person was happy and satisfied with both food and service. We all opted for the three course meal option. There were several selections available in the "Starters", entree, and desert categories to choose from with enough variety to keep everyone happy.
I started with the Chicken Fried Oysters and my wife with the Habanero Rubbed Shrimp. Both were perfectly cooked and presented and just the right size to start the dinner.
My Rack of Lamb entry was tasty and perfectly cooked to my ordered Medium Rare. The wife's Mahi Mahi was cooked to perfection with a very nice presentation.
Everyone at our table was happy with their selections.
We will definitely be going back on future trips to San Antonio.!
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary on a Saturday night. We made reservations through Open Table; everything went smoothly. Our lead server--Thomas--was exceptional in every regard. He was knowledgeable about all the entrees and sides, despite the fact that the Biga menu changes very frequently. In response to a concern about one type of fish sometimes being dry at other establishments, Thomas recommended--and my wife enjoyed--a different species served with all the accompaniments of the menu item. He engaged pleasantly with us when we asked questions. The serving team was excellent, ensuring timely but unrushed arrival of each dish. The food was phenomenal! The finishing touch of "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate on the sticky toffee dessert made our evening!
Hostess great. First 2 tables terrible. Got it right. Waiter and all servers awesome.
