As a former patron of the old Big Rock, it was nice to see many of the additions for the new restaurant, as it was in need of a refresh, even down to the restrooms. For only being open two weeks, at first blush, it was a solid start. I hope it will maintain the positives that I saw from our first night back. It was a smart move to bring back the valet team from before, as they know best how to get vehicles in and out of the tight circle when it gets loaded with customers. Servers and staff inside were wonderful as well. Marvin, our lead server, was spot on, as was his support person Dimitri. Paris, the bartender, knows how to make an excellent egg white whiskey sour. If you are a wine drinker, the list is strong (and has many nice Celani options if you are a fan) , but does not appear as deep as the old restaurant thick book listing. I'm thinking they are still figuring out the right amount of storage space they want to tie to wine storage, as opposed to accommodating all the extra table seating that appears to be throughout the restaurant. All the apps and entrees came out tasty, hot, and timely. The king crab in a jar app, and baked clams, are definite winners, along with the warm focaccia bread loaf. We went with seafood for entrees as well, and the branzino and swordfish were terrific. The only slights I could see (and they are only slight) were that 1) all the waitstaff is generally outfitted with earpieces, which unfortunately gives you the feeling that a secret service detail is working security, rather than having a more intimate waitstaff experience throughout the meal, and 2) the big bar that once held court in the center of the old restaurant is now gone, and upon its move to one end of the restaurant, was made considerably smaller. Certainly a move to ensure lots of new table seating. As I said, minor items. Absolutely looking forward to a re-visit soon!

We were excited to try Big Rock Italian Chophouse, but the night was a letdown. Service dragged — we waited long stretches to order, flagging our server for drinks and dessert. When entrées finally came, one Chicken Parmesan and the Lasagna were cold, with undercooked pasta. After-dinner drinks took very long, too. Having loved other Cameron Mitchell spots, this was a shockingly poor experience — cold food, slow service, and little reason to return.

Beautiful restaurant with superb service. All of the food was extremely salty, which really took away from the dining experience.

There were 4+ people handling check-in and seating and they were totally lost, had to wait 20+ minutes to get seated with a reservation. Great waiter, but service was extremely slow, we got our appetizers 15 + minutes before we got the wine, even though they have been op only 10 days the were out of the wine we ordered, and the sommelier recommended replacement was on the wine list and was no comparison to the wine we ordered. We had to ask him to decant the wine and even after that it was way too young (2020 Barolo) to be recommended as a replacement for the 2018 Barolo we ordered. Since the food was very good, we give them at least 3 months before we go back and hopefully they will have gotten organized

Everything was great except the parking. Valet is expensive and almost mandatory as there is no close free parking.

Hands down the best Delmonico Ribeye I’ve had in years. We paired it with the sautéed mushrooms and Parmesan potatoes—both were excellent. I’m not usually a potato girl (those are more for my husband), but I found myself stealing bites. We also shared the butternut squash tortelloni, which was rich and flavorful. It’s definitely a dish best shared, especially if you’re ordering other items. To finish, we had two desserts for the table: the blueberry crisp and the cheesecake. Both were wow-worthy—big portions, so plan to share. Overall, 10/10 for the food. The service was a bit slow and somewhat unorganized, but I imagine they’re still finding their rhythm since it’s a new spot. Looking forward to seeing how it evolves!

We tried the new Big Rock Italian Chop House last night for dinner. For the most part it was a great experience. The reason we took off a couple of stars was brcause three meals out of four came out room temperature after a delay. When they brought the second round of meals they were also room temperature The taste was outstanding and presentation was great. Service was impeccable and we enjoyed the ambiance.
