Six of us had dinner and drinks on a Saturday night here, it was bustling and there was a live band that came on at 9 which was fun, slightly loud. The beer flights were reasonable and good variety, however every other drink wasn't. They only had 4 wines, which were not good ones, cheap and cheerful, but the price was not. The bartender was not able to make any fancy drinks and our waitress was actually getting annoyed with us asking questions about the menu. The food was bad, really bad, we had the deep fried olives which were pretty much just burned batter, cheese plate was okay, pizza was horrible, served on the same pita they served with the cheese plate. Poutine had just a handful of toppings, overall would not eat there again but maybe stop in for a quick beer and catch a band.

Better selection of food and more food for the buck. Dine out Vancouver should showcase the eatery and should be utmost best to attract new customers or diners. This one lacked both, better luck next time.

Went to Big Rock with friends for my husband's birthday because he loves craft beer. On that count, there were lots of great beers to choose from and he enjoyed the flights. The service was good, a little slow at first, but then sped up and she was friendly. We particularly liked the live music, just a guy and his guitar, but he was great, and it's a rarity in Vancouver. The food was ok, a bit on the salty side, and not a lot of options. One friend had the steak frites, which included just that: steak and frites, no veggies, and way too many frites. I had the cobb salad, which was pretty good - a bit bland. Husband had lamb tacos and kimchi poutine. The poutine was yummy but too salty and the tacos were ok. Other friend had the dineout menu and he enjoyed it. Definitely not a foodies paradise, but for large groups wanting a night out with good craft beer and live music, this place is a good option.

enjoyed the tastings at the brewpub beside the restaurant and beer selection in general was good. Friendly staff and good band. Dine out food wasn't good at all but we had a fun evening. I'd go back.

I had been told about Big Rock Urban from a friend, and I am a big craft beer drinkers so I jumped at the chance to try it out. The service was amazing! So many friendly people and the food was pub food with class! They say you eat with your eyes first and when the food was placed in front of me my stomach started growling. It had such a modern look to it, not something you'd expect from a brewery so it immediately made me smile. As soon as I left I texted multiple friends trying to plan the next time I can come for more food and drinks. Big Rock Urban will be my go to pin from now on!

Definitely go for flights of Big Rock's craft beer and enjoy a few appetizers. Food is just OK but service is warm, knowledgeable and prompt. Went for Dine Out and was underwhelmed by meal.

We booked on a Saturday afternoon for a Dine-Out Vancouver experience. We confirmed a table for 3pm, which also coincided with the 3-6pm Happy Hour. When we were seated, the waitress informed us that Happy Hour actually started at 4pm (contradicting both the website and posted signs in the restaurant). She also informed us that we couldn't have the Dine-Out menu, and tha

I was extremely disappointed by the service and the food offered during Dine Out. Our server took over 15 minutes to get to our table even while it wasn't all that busy. The beer meatballs were average- not very flavorful. I ordered the lamb pizza for the main- thinking that it was a bit of an odd combination but willing to try it. It wasn't good, unfortunately. The dessert was the mango cheesecake which was quite good although my friend didn't like the presentation. It wasn't bad for a $20 set menu but I didn't eat much of it.

The cocktails were great.

But the description of the food in the menu was much better than the actual food itself. We had meatballs, beer bento box, and tried the two different desserts.

The meatballs were on the dry side, although the sauce was outstanding and the flavour was good.

The bento box was a neat idea, but not quite punchy enough - everything was a little on the bland side, all a similar texture and without a lot of contrast in either texture or flavour. It wasn't terrible.

The desserts were also on the bland side.

The venue is cool, but very, very noisy. The waitress was delightful.

The '74 Rox thoroughly enjoyed a mini-reunion (7 of us ) at the Big Rock UE on a recent Wed night. Turned out to be a quiet night for the Eatery, i.e. small to modest crowd overall, but great for us and our "catch-up" conversations due to the low noise level. The beer and cider were well received. And the food quality, the basis of a recommendation for us to visit the Big Rock EU, didn't disappoint. Jen, our sever, did a great job helping us with our drink selections, being attentive to the liquid levels in our glasses, being personable to a bunch of old guys (us), and lastly, preparing an individually itemized bill (without us even asking) that made payment a breeze.
Obviously no views of the mountains or water here, but still an excellent spot for beers, pub food and socialization (and lots of parking).

We went as a group for a work lunch on Friday and arrived to a mostly-empty dining room. Within half an hour the place was full and the noise increased drastically, which is fine on its own – big crowds = big noise. However, there is nothing to dampen the sound, so a brick-walled large dining room gets incredibly loud incredibly quickly. The music was just loud enough to compound the noise, but not actually loud enough to add to the ambience.

The most astounding part was the staff's complete and total apathy toward trying to mitigate additional noise; a table next to us was dragged loudly across the floor, and then every single chair dragged as well. Not a single chair was picked up to prevent making a horrible screeching sound. For two minutes we stopped talking and remarked that it felt like we were in a Seinfeld skit as the dining room was loudly rejigged. Food was mediocre, caesar salad was awful, drinks were fine, service was fine. Other places in the neighbourhood are much better.

We had some nachos that were lame, the cheese was like Cheez Whiz and all the toppings were on the side. The nacho chips seemed fresh made which was good. The beers some were down right horrible, I think some of these places are trying too hard to make different unique beers and some just taste like bad experiments.

the beer and wine were good, but took a long time to arrive, second course appeared before first was finished (despite asking otherwise), food was tepid, server was much more busy tootling around the room cleaning and, i assume, getting ready to close up that attending us - and actually held up her finger in the face of one of us while ordering so she could ask questions. toward the end of the meal - intrusive, tipped her head down between us to interrupt conversation, way too suddenly smiley.

My friend and I went for brunch. The decor is super cute, especially considering it is a brewery. (Don't miss the adjacent package store!) There were so many interesting choices, it was hard to decide. We started with fried olives (Yum!) and chickereones (Meh-very bland). I had the pulled pork sammy with incredible fries. I don't like fennel so I asked our server Jamie if I could have the pineapple salsa insteadof the fennel slaw it usually comes with. She didn't hesitate to say yes to the change. Yay! Love a restaurant that wants to make me happy. My friend had the chicken and Brie sandwich a side salad, which he said was very good. For dessert we shared the s'more. OMG. Worth every calorie.

Food was inventive and tasty - we had a good time, but on a Friday night, with a band, it was not quite the family pub-style experience we were looking for. More our fault than that of the restaurant, but it was extremely loud, nearly impossible to have a conversation.

It seems to be a mixed place. I've been a few times and sometimes it's super busy, other times its completely dead (even on a Saturday night). The live music is great but better bands might help liven the place up!

The bartender was serving and managing the bar at the same time, but he was great! Fun guy who recommended some kickass beer & food, and the staff in general were great to talk to. We came late night just wanting a snack, but we'll definitely be coming back for LIVE MUSIC EVERY NIGHT! How awesome is that?

I have been a big fan of Big Rock since they opened, but unfortunately they seem to be going downhill. This last experience was poor to say the least.
When I was eating my dinner, the server repeatedly tried to take my plate away. Once when I had a mouth full of food! The server himself was odd, and seemed out of place. He was awkward to interact with and did not make us feel very welcome.
The food itself was good, but at the end when we got our bill, we had been charged $5 for a side of coleslaw (which was about 1/3 of a cup) and $4 for a side of bake beans (about the same service size). I couldn't believe it. We complained to the server, and he removed the coleslaw from the bill. After looking at the menu the "side" prices were different from what we were charged on the bill.

Overall pretty disappointing. Until now, we have had an issue with how loud it is in there, but always been happy to go because the service was good and we felt the prices were great, now that the service has been bad and the cost was that high, not sure we will return.

The servers were all very friendly, despite running about 15-20 minutes behind for our reservations. The beer was good and affordable, and we had wings which were tasty! The only negative thing that I had to say about it was that it was VERY noisy inside - difficult to carry on a conversation. The tables were all set up for 4 people or more, so I'd recommend going with a group of people if you do go - definitely more of a loud-ish, group vibe than I was expecting.

Descent beer but besides the chicken wings, nothing was worth ordering. It's really hard to have a conversation in there. It would be a great place if they did something about the acoustics, especially for the bands that play as the sound quality is really bad, and if they worked on their food quality.

Really crazy to have bands especially a rock band and no dancing allowed and to be told 'food is primary' when we asked why - What? Need to get that liquor license changed ASAP. Also asked for japalenos on the side with the grilled cheese - were told 'not allowed' - - what what?
