We feel it is this combination of elements that make a great dining experience possible
My visit was wonderful the food was great and my waiter was fantastic this really made my mother’s day experience was truly a great one
We had lunch and a meeting following. Our request to be in a quiet area was honored. We plan to gave our next meeting there on 16th and look forward to a great time. Thank you.
We normally love the Grille.
When we walked in we stood there for a minute while a very young hostess ignored us.
Finally I stood in front of her, gave her my name, and told her we had a reservation.
She typed on the screen, talked to another hostess, picked up a pager and wandered off.
Another hostess was standing there ignoring us, so I told her we had a reservation.
Thankfully she seated us.
Our sever was awesome.
She could not have done a better job.
The avocado chicken sandwich was ok but the bottom of the chicken breast was burned.
I scraped that off.
It was very noisy but it was Friday night.
Awesome as always!!!
Ordered the ribeye. It can out very tiny dry and salty. Thank goodness I ordered Mac-cheese so I could did it in the cheese sauce to eat it. It was a real shame because the restaurant pics looked so good and it had a nice vibe. Just wish the one pricey plate we ordered would have got the attention it should of , And that would have changed our whole attitude and would have led to dessert there instead of down the street.
Steak was $25, it was so tough it hurt my jaws to chew it. They did refund my money. I would go back but I wouldn’t have a steak.
Our food was fantastic! My husband's steak was incorrect but handled immediately. The waitress was very responsive to our needs!
Tacos were good but only because I ate my husband’s Tacos, I however ordered the Salmon not paying attention they costed $19.99 and it was dry and side dishes were 🤮 but like I said my husbands plate of fish tacos were spectacular. Service was good.
Beer was good.
They did not honor the Open Table reservation and the head hostess gave me the stink eye the entire time we were there because I contacted Open Table and she had nothing to do but watch me. We were 100% on time for our reservations. Our table was given to someone else even though our reservation was made over an hour in advance. Then to make matters worse they gave me undercooked chicken which is very dangerous. They recooked it and comped it bit bu the time I got it everyone else had finished eating and had to wait on me. We had a 9 year old and a 5 year old with us so I didn’t enjoy my second meal at all. We have been going to Big River for 12 years and 20 minutes is the “off the street” wait time, which is exactly how long she told us we had to wait for our table. She gave us a 4 top with a chair at the end for a 5 year old. There was hardly enough room to eat. I felt like that was retribution for contacting Open Table onfront of her.
Never a letdown! Crab dip was great!! Shrimp and grits are a must try!!!
We were unable to dine that night because the restaurant would not honor the reservation we made through Open Table App. The management said that the app does not communicate with their reservation system. When asked why it is available to use or how a customer is supposed to know this, no answer was given. Instead, excuses about how many volleyball and other teams and large groups were in town superseded our request.
It’s definitely a must visit on your trip to Chattanooga. Great menu and food and service.
We went with a couple who has been here before. We had a reservation and was seated promptly at John’s table. John was great. Very patient with us since we had traveled for 5 hours to visit and catch up, so we didn’t look at the menu immediately. Like I said, John was patient. Food was good. Noise level was low enough where we could hear each other. Will definitely go back when we visit Chattanooga again.
Loved the food and staff! It was a great choice for our romantic date night!
First our waiter was stoned out his mind, second when our food finally came out, we noticed there was honey mustard on one of my sons chicken fingers. My son is allergic to mustard, how it got on the chicken very strange being that we didn’t ask for it. So the waiter took the food back and we waited about 20 mins waiter came back around and asked if we needed anything? My wife responded saying yeah we are almost done eating and our son food is not back, he said oh I’m so sorry. Third they were late on bring my cocktail drink and then try to give it to me water down...lol what now I say. Well I’ll tell you what now! On the reservation through you guys and the restaurant even knew cause they asked and I reminded them. This was a birthday dinner for my daughter and they forgot. Talk about being depressed, I would never come back even if you offered a free meal.
Went for a client lunch meeting. The Cobb Salad was perfect as were the drinks. The bartender did an excellent job. We will be back!
BTW... the beer selection is phenomenal, but we were not having beer at lunch. Definitely visit Big River In Chattanooga
Made a reservation for 8 and we were seated immediately upon arrival. Good service, good food and great for a larger group of 8.
I've been by but never been inside; it was much bigger than I imagined. We were there for quick bite before movie at IMAX theater (wish I had know about discount for ticket-holders). Shrimp and grits and Lager were excellent, service was quick (could have been a little more friendly) and we were out in time to be one of the first in line for theater. We were seated by the door (in January) so it was a bit cold; next time I'd ask to be seated somewhere else.
Our server was HORRIBLE. We ordered apps and drinks. Never received silverware or napkins (we had wings—messy!). Tried for 30 minutes (no kidding!) to wave him down to at least get the check. He avoided eye contact and would not stop st our table. Not to mention my chicken may not have been cooked thoroughly.
You can be the judge of that, but we didn’t want to risk it..Drinks were actually very good, at least. However, not likely to return due to this particular server ruining our experience.
Great new year's day lunch! we really enjoyed the food and got great service even though we had children with us.
Awesome as alway!! Never disappointed when we make the trip from north-Alabama.
We enjoyed our visit but not because of the food. The service was OK but not outstanding. Our food was delivered to the table in a rather chaotic manner with lots of plate swapping before we each got the correct meal. Some of the sauces were late to the table and the seasonal vegetable was the same as the menu option (Green beans) ie not very creative.
After dinner we played pool which really was the highlight of the evening. Maybe it would have been better had it not been so close to Christmas.
We came with a party of 11 including 4 children. The waiter was great and the food was wonderful! Everyone had a great time!
The food was fairly well prepared, albeit a bit under seasoned, and dishes arrived fairly quickly since the restaurant was largely empty. Our server was friendly but checked out as soon as good was delivered. Glasses were refilled once. Requests for extra condiments were ignored. Asked if it was one check or separate checks before even inquiring about desserts and then acted as if telling us four desserts was an oppressive task. Server had few other tables; he was distracted, he just didn’t want to do his job. Why go to a place where being there seems like it’s an inconvenience to the staff?
We went to Big River for my team's Holiday Lunch and everything was great. The table was already when we arrived and we were seated immediately. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable.
Our waitress was friendly and helpful. We got our food fast and everything was correct and delicious!
Been twice—great experience each time. Call ahead reservations, food, and service excellent. Recommend and will be back more often.
Great dinner experience for my daughter and her two good friends to jointly celebrate their 16th birthday’s.
Justin was our server and he did not know much about the menu items that we asked about, but he did take care of us.. I feel that every server should know about each item the menu. The guy that brought our food to the table which I do believe was Greg, was very rude to my husband. My husband started cutting into his steak and dish water started pouring out of the handle of the knife. The manager did take care of our meal and we did take care of Justin, but overall we were just not satisfied..
Service was slow and menus was limited... wasn’t a bad experience, just Okay.
Bar drinks were very good. Service was attentive. Flat iron steak was grilled to perfection. Valet service well done. Owner was on site and personable.
Sienna was amazing
Overall a pretty good restaurant. More bar fare than we expected, but there a lot of great sandwiches.
While the food was good, the service was terrible. It wasn’t necessarily our waiter’s fault; it was obvious they needed several more waitstaff.
The food was awful. We had the nachos and they were so dry and burnt we decided against entrees. Our waiter came by once, and it took 25 minutes to get water. The restaurant itself was cool, but yeah I will not be back.
Very tired restaurant that smells like old fish. You should tear down the building and make it a Gordon Biersch restaurant.
Great find for us. Waiter recommended the carrot cake for dessert - absolutely delicious!
My husband ordered a salad with his meal, didn’t get that until after his meal came and after reminding our server. His steak was so cold it didn’t even melt the butter that was on top of it. Had to send it back. Not a great experience for our date after driving in from another state.
Last minute choice while touring the city, service was a bit slow, food was good but not memorable; overall felt overpriced. Would try again.
This was our third trip to this restaurant as we have traveled to Chattanooga a few times. But the restaurant was super loud, had a hard time just trying to talk. Our server was nice but super stressed and kept forgetting things. Food was not really hot when we got it. This experience was not ok, we will be dining elsewhere our next trip to Chattanooga.
