Big Fish - Dearborn Ratings and Reviews
We were put in a side room where the atmosphere was extremely drab. After asking the server for a taste of a wine, she wasn't happy. Our appetizer came out cold inside. The manager was very courteous and apologetic. A runner brought out our dinners (including crab legs) without bringing utincles/crackers, leaving dirty salad plates on the table and we had to wait for our server to come and ask for utincles 10 mins later. Our server never came back to check dinner or ask if we wanted more wine/cocktails. Fish is their primary specialty and it tastes as though everything is drowned in garlic butter. I prefer to taste of fresh quality seafood and not cover with butter. Dinner prices are high, you would think service would match. Unfortunately, it did not and we will never go back.
Went for Valentines and it was a very pleasant experience. The hostess was engaging and made us feel very welcomed, our server was attentive and our meal was well paced, the restaurant was very busy yet we were made to feel special at every interaction. Our wine was delivered promptly and when we mentioned we were very hungry, our service brought us hot, fresh baked bread! My husband had the lobster bisque which was rich and full of sweet lobster for his starter, the signature salmon with mashed redskins which were both very tasty and healthy portions. I had a salad which was very large and delivered as asked with the dressing on the side, and potato crusted Chilean sea bass which was outstanding! We then shared the key lime pie and an espresso to Cole out the night. Very nice experience!
My lobster bites was very hard and crispy, I told the server she was very nice and took it back. The female manger came over and told me that nothing was wrong with my food. I eat at Ruth Chris twice a week and my bites never came out hard. She was very rude and made my night uneasy. I wouldn’t go back there in the future.
We had reservations for 4 people .. My husband and our friends who go out at least 4 nights a week, and myself... my friend who's birthday and mine are the same day... we go out for dinner someplace special each year. She recommended Big Fish and I made the reservations ! The service was VERY slow in the beginning , we like to have a few drinks before dinner.. we had to track down a manager finally to ask for some service ! That manager never came back to see if she could help or get us a drink or even check on us to see if the server ever came... very poor on her part. The food was fair when it arrived. My friend and I both ordered Lobster Tail..it was fair at best, we have had much better. Very disappointing evening .
I always love going to Big Fish. Usually there portion sizes at lunch are really great. However, the fish on the fish and chips was very small, unlike last month when I ordered the same item. I give them props as the Manager had the chef prepare an additional small piece for me. The response to my inquiry occurred quickly without any problem.
As always the service is great - waitress processes order quickly and accurately. The atmosphere is always fantastic and the dining area quiet.
I look forward to returning for my next lunch outing with friends.
My boyfriend and I went on New Year's Eve. The restaurant was empty. Our server was courteous and patient. The food was delicious. We ordered Patron Margaritas which were amazing. I'm sure the ambiance would be better on a normal business day. Would definitely dine there again.
I used to love this restaurant, but was very disappointed in this special occasion. We were celebrating our 35th anniversary with my in-laws and son, and asked for a nice table with fun server. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, but they still tried to put us at a lousy table by the kitchen doors. And our waitress, while friendly and trying hard, clearly hadn’t been properly trained. She didn’t know how the specials were prepared, and didn’t know how to serve a nice bottle of wine.
Our food was good, not great. The restaurant is not what it used to be. It needs a makeover to make it more cozy and currrnt, and much more involved management.
The food was just okay. Our waitress was very nice but there was an inability to pace our courses. We had appetizers, soup and an entree. We didn't have the opportunity to finish one course before they brought the next. Opposite problem with our drinks. Drink service was very slow. We had all our food but not our drinks. Also, someone dropped food by our table and no one cleaned it up.
It took 2 1/2 hours to service 3 people and the restaurant was a third filled. The floor bounced every single time someone walk behind me for all of that 2 1/2 hours. Food was fine. Oysters were not separated from their shells and steak was cold, but cooked well.
Service was horrific for a Saturday at 5:30 p.m...... ridiculous!!!!!
I enjoy Big Fish during the week days and nights because I work in the area so I am there often.... however for a weekend.... the service was awful!!!!
What should have taken maximum two hour dinner experience on a Saturday at 5:30 p.m. turned into three hours and we were late for our concert!
The room we were seated in was very loud and I couldn't hear people talking at our table. The waitress forgot to bring my salad dressing and after 15 minutes I had to leave the table and hunt her down in the restaurant. They were not busy, but she rarely checked on us. My shrimp and crab salad was disappointing. I would not recommend it.
Every trip to Big Fish is an enjoyable one. I celebrated my birthday on Friday and Big Fish was my choice. The menu selection is great and the food is always fresh and plentiful. The rolls are outstanding. Everything was prepared to perfection. I will return again before the year is out for I love their fish and chips on the luncheon menu.
The waitress could careless about the table I was at...she seemed more focus on the “regulars”. It took 20 minutes for us to get the bread basket. Then I ordered the steak with shrimp and it came out without shrimp. The manager came and apologized for the delay. Over all I had a good night.
