Big Fish - Dearborn Ratings and Reviews
As always Big Fish surpassed my expectations even though I have been there several times. The lunch menu has a variety of options with something for everyone. I wanted to try the fish and chips after seeing a photo on line. There was enough food for me to eat half and take the remainder home for lunch. It was served with sweet potato fries, shoestring onion rings, and a tasty coleslaw. I am not usually a fan of coleslaw, but this one is definitely a keeper. My sister tried the whitefish with rice and a vegetable and said it was very good.
Their rolls are divine. Service was magnificent as always and timing was great. Absolutely no wait, our table was ready at the reserved time.
I always enjoy Big Fish so I can hardly wait until I return.
For the most part the service was very good but when my husband was asked if he wanted a second drink after appetizers and he said yes it didn't arrive until he was almost done with his entree. The birthday menu arrived after we ordered and the waiter forgot my husband's dinner included dessert.
The scallops were amazing as was the Chilean sea bass!
The person who greeted us seemed non interested that we had a reservation for our anniversary so he sat us and the server, who was very nice, asked us about drinks, we ordered and it took about 15 minutes for them to arrive, we then sat there and drank our drinks without the server returning to ask us if we wanted another or even take our order! We asked a passing person if she was the manager and advised we would like another drink and to order and she said "ok" and walked away, we then had to get up and find our server and ask her to take our order. We had a couple questions about how something was prepared and she explained, when the food finally did arrive it was not at all how she explained. Food very average and that is being nice. the server was very friendly but awful at her job. Ambiance for a romantic anniversary dinner was horrible as there were small children under 3 running around and being very loud. We will never return and do not recommend this to anyone.
I took my sister and two friends for a birthday celebration lunch and everything was amazing. They had everything ready for us and surprised us with souvenir menus for the birthday ladies. They obtained the names of the remaining celebrant and greeted her by name when she arrived. Our waitress was excellent, as usual, and brought our food promptly. We all ordered something different and everyone was more than pleased ( Today's Catch Atlantic Salmon, Rainbow Trout, and Lake Superior Whitefish and a Power Lunch - house salad and the Blackened Salmon Burger). All staff were right on point. Those celebrating their birthdays were given a creme brulee which they told me was very tasty. Thanks to all for making it such a wonderful occasion. I am looking forward to going back to try other menu options.
Service was slow and very poor. Called ahead to request personalized menus for special guest celebrations and they weren't ready. They did not bring out for menus for 15-20 minutes. Manager visited every table in our area but skipped our table. Our server was cheerful but not attentive. Reservation was at 5:00 and needed to leave by 7:00 we barely had time for dessert and would have loved to have had coffee but no time.
I love this place. I have celebrated birthdays and Mothers Day celebration there and just recently my husband and I just celebrated 23 years of marriage there. I Liked how we had a romantic and cozy area for just us. WE HAD AN EXCEPTIONAL waiter and he even let me taste some wine before I ordered a Glass to see if I would like it...and the food is so good and delicious. YOU HAVE TO TRY THEIR SHRIMP LISTED AS AN APPETIZER. ..IT'S SO GOOD...
The waitstaff was excellent. Richard and Tony did a fine job and were very attentive to our group's needs. This was a Monday evening so it was a nice quiet atmosphere. The combo seafood plates were delicious, nicely prepared, and presented.
I would return to the restaurant again but will not order any specialty drinks as they were very watered-down. I suggest beer or wine to get your value for beverages.
The meal and service were very good. I like Big Fish becasue of the fish selections especially the Blackened fish. The location si convenient to Ford and to the airport. I am not I understand why we ordered a salad or a soup and then kept the menus to order our main course dish later but the food was good. The fish chowder was tasty and the blackened salmon was good.
The food was great and nicely portioned. The server was attentive but not all over us. The price was fair for good quality food. The valet was free but of course a tip should be provided. It was a very enjoyable meal for a get together with old friends. I found it not totally quiet but easy to have a conversation.
Food: very good although slightly dated, large portions even for appetizer. Had Caesar salad, was offered anchovies. It came with only one, which I thought was odd but at least it was there.
Service: very good. Server brought out extra bread at end of meal in a container for us to take home, which was nice as they didn't have extra ready during the meal.
Ambiance: went on a Saturday night, and the place was dead. Only a few tables full, which made for a quiet dinner but kind of boring. Decor is very 80s-90s.
