Typical American Food, not so flavorful. The Piñacolada was the best thing. HOWEVER! It’s a must for children! They will definitely love it, at least I know my sister was thrilled!
i was in the mood for a hamburger but was advised they will not cook it medium rare - the grilled chicken was recommended and came with avocado and other tasty things i cant recall right now - i got it without the bread and it was still a large and satisfying meal - also fresh fruit salad was an option instead of fries and that was a plus for me
Love this place ambiance is great food is great mimosas are the best!!! Place is awesome from the decor to the food no complaints and for those people that complain about waiting for a table make a reservation on open table and you don’t have to wait I got seated before my reservation time.
A great time was had by all.
Attentive service was helpful.
Service was very disappointing. Normally we feel very comfortable here, but last day waiters were a kind of rude to us.
Had a great lunch with my family for my birthday! We had three adults and 2 kids. All had a great time!
We made reservation for 7 people after celebrating my daughter’s birthday in the city. When we arrived the host told the group waiting to be seated we were crowding the door and no one would be seated at this time. After 5-10 more minutes we finally we able to reach the host desk only to be told they did not have a table for us. We were offered two booths, but as we were celebrating my daughter’s birthday we did not want to be split up.
The response after telling the host we did not want the two booths was.”well, if you want to sit together , it is going to be a while.”
The purpose of the reservation was to ensure we would have a table waiting for us and Big Daddy’s has a completely different idea of what a reservation ensures. Used to love this restaurant, but we will not be back.
The manager was horrible. Even with reservations we waited 10 min before we were even acknowledged. They were clearly understaffed and did not handle the crowd properly. Our server did her best....food was just OK.
WE WENT HERE FOR MY SON'S BIRTHDAY AND IT WAS COOL....GREAT MEMORABILIA LINE THE WALLS AND SHELVES.... MUSIC WAS 80S ALL THE WAY. THE MANAGER, TALL SMILEY FELLA WAS AWESOME! HE WELCOMED US, THANKED US FOR COMING AND EVEN GAVE MY SON A T-SHIRT AND NIECE A HAT :-) THE FOOD AND DESSERTS WERE DELICIOUS! I'LL BE BACK!
Today we celebrated my sons 6th birthday
The food was great The staff is amazing
We loved everything about our experience
Thank you
the manager was very great. it was son and aunt bday and he was very accommodating. Jamie was also a great server
The food and shakes was great. The service was excellent. We had a big party and wait time was not long. Definitely will go back again.
Very fun place for lunch. The milkshakes are tasty and the staff are friendly.
We had a great experience on New Year’s Day! The service was great, as was the food (I would definitely recommend the s’mores waffles and the hunka hunka burning love pancakes).
Server took a little while to get refills and other small things. Food was out fast , despite missing 2 dishes that came after asking.
Awesome burgers, great for families. Lots of kids, so no worries as a parent. But don't expect a quiet romantic dinner...
HORRIBLE SERVICE !! Was celebrating our daughters birthday never ask us about it!! The waiter we had was either over worked or just didn't care. Last year we loved Big Daddy's and that's why we went back this year but never again!!!
Big Daddy's is a great American burger and fries place. Great onion rings, too. One shouldn't expect more than this, but what Big Daddy's offers is what everybody wants.
Had a reservation through Open Table. Walked 20mins in the cold with 2 babies and arrived on time. Checked in with hostess. We were asked to wait a minute as she ran to the kitchen for something. Another large party enters behind us. Manager (Sean) greets them, acknowledges that they did not have a reservation, even informed them that reservations have to be made online, yet seats them anyway giving away our table. Hostess returns to let the manager know we had the reservation and was saving the table for us (and not to mention, we arrived first and checked even before the other party even got there). The manager brushed it off, was rude and did not admit to his mistake. Never apologized. And made us wait another 30mins before being seated.
We have been loyal customers of Big Daddy’s for 5 years- we’ve come for Valentine’s Day, my bachelorette weekend, weekend brunches with friends, and date nights and the food and service have always been great. We were surprised last Friday night by the poor service and food quality- it’s never happened to us here before. Server forgot both of our milkshakes, then when we asked for them again, he brought another server to take the order and then tried to give them to another table. My tater tots were cold and had to be sent back, and both of our burgers were really undercooked (i’m pregnant so I actually could not safely eat mine). We didn’t bother sending the burgers back because we were still waiting for the milkshakes and the new tater tots.
I hope this was just an off night and that this does not become a trend! We’ve been coming for years and never had one issue with food or service until last Friday night!
Everything was just ok. Food service just ok. Great to bring kids though because it was so loud.
Don’t waste your time, is a dump. Tables dirty, very loud music playing...
This is the cutest diner ever! I haven’t had tator tots in years and this place has the best tots ever! Our server Prince was super helpful. He recommended the easy rider and it was perfect!! Pancakes, bacon, eggs, and tots. What’s not for a girl to love. The host Jamie was a dream she was so nice to my daughter. Two thumbs up for the staff here at the upper west side big Daddy’s! Most definitely telling all my friends about this place!!
We hosted a family Birthday Party with kids from 6 to 18, it was outstanding
GREAT service, super fun menu, so many great choices, was hard to narrow down
fun spot. very casual and relaxed. easy spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch and looks to have a great set up for evening as well. Need to go back to try some more menu selections! Staff was really friendly and attentive. And, hey...they've been there since 1969, so they must be getting it right!
The place definitely needs to be deep cleaned.. floors and tables were filthy .. food was decent but definitely not great and the expensive milkshake I was so excited to taste...was overpriced and underwhelming ...could be a nice place if only they would try
Omelette was cooked perfectly. Sweet potato tots are a must! Decor is fun but the music is a bit loud.
DELICIOUS food, oh the tater tots! But good lord the music was loud. Liked the music but waaaaay too loud.
I've been to this location a few times over the last few years & experienced consistently bad service. The staff must have never eaten in restaurants & have no clue to good service. Long waits & indifferent attitudes are the rule. The food is bland & always seems to include some really off ingredients. The Thai salad had pieces of frozen mango tossed in with the wilted greens, for example. Once food is delivered, don't expect to see your server again until you have to beg for the check. Not recommended.
Food was excellent and the Server josh was great
Great family place! Lots of options for our allergic children... no nuts or shellfish especially helpful for our allergic family. Easy to get reservations for large parties. Best best milkshakes and tater tots yet lots of healthy choices too.
Jordan was a great server! My friend enjoyed his bday brunch!!
Amazing brunch for my daughter's fourth birthday before heading over to the Children's Museum. Everyone was incredibly friendly and made her feel very special with a special Happy Birthday serenade and chocolate milkshake dipped in sprinkles with a candle. Very family friendly and everyone seemed be okay with the noise and excitement of the two four year olds we had with us. Very pleasant surprise, especially for NYC! The host/manager was fantastic and friendly and our server was fantastic! Also great food and absolutely the best milkshakes we have ever had! Will be going again!
Fun place to go and have the true Diner experience
On recent trip
To NYC we grabbed dinner here after a jam packed day of museum going. Recommended to us by college age niece's new Yorker friend. Diner comfort food with emphasis on burgers & sandwiches. Very tasty & fun retro diner atmosphere. Meat in burger far above average.
We went for burgers, but decided on chicken sandwiches instead -- The Chicken Lickin’ Sandy and Mr. Big Stuff -- both very good. One of us had tater tots & one had sweet potato tots -- also very good. Big Daddy's features frozen margaritas. We prefer on the rocks, and they came out way too sweet -- probably using the same mix they use for frozen, and they didn't put salt on the glass. I had to send mine back; my wife had to dilute hers with water & add lime. Also disappointed that ribs & fried chicken are off the menu. (They were listed in the online menu we searched.) Finally, we found the prices very very high. Luckily we had a 20% off coupon, which made it still overpriced, but affordable. Our waiter was friendly and the service was good.
My family and I went to Big Daddy's to celebrate my two little sister's birthday. We had a great time. HANNAH! Our waitress was amazing and super sweet. The food was really good and to top it off UNLIMITED MIMOSAS for only $20 you can't beat that.
Understaffed today, but food is normally okay. Eggs were over cooked & everyone's meal was almost cold.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I went there because they advertised it on the view. I figured I'd take my kids there and try it out. When we arrived the place smelled bad like they'd mopped the floor with dirty water my 10 year old was like Mommy it stinks, so we sat outside instead. The waitress was not prompt and didn't seem like she liked her job. We ordered pancakes and waffles with fruit. The waffles were good except they don't use real fruit, like really who eats this syrupy stuff ruined the meal. My kids wouldn't eat it and the side of bacon was burnt . I could have went to IHOP. At least the pancakes would be fluffy. Maybe the other food is good. I was so turned off I didn't get the milkshake they had on the view.
