First time there - not sure if our experience was typical for a Saturday evening. We had to wait about 30 minutes for our table (we had a reservation). 5 out of the 7 of us got our meals when the food came out. Our entrees were delivered to the wrong table and those folks enjoyed our meals. We had to wait an extra 30 minutes for our plates. Needless to say the rest of our party had finished their meals. We ordered dessert but they never cleared our dinner plates. We just piled them up in a corner. The food was great though.
Tempted to go back but probably not on a weekend.
We were a party of 6 and ordered very basic off the menu items. About 20 minutes after we ordered, one of the child meals came out and one of the side dishes. It was at that point we were told by the waitress that they were missing either ingredients or whole dishes and were unable to provide them as they were “out“ of them. Our server was very matter-of-fact the whole time and really didn’t do much to try and accommodate anything nor offer apologies for her error in knowing what the kitchen had or didn’t have. It took an additional 20 minutes for the rest of our table to get their food and during that time the food that was brought out was cold. There was no offer to replace anything and we had to ask for replacement. When all was said and done we were billed for the replacement and the item that was to be taken off, as well as for an item that we couldn’t get. The manager did come over and offered some milkshakes for the kids and took a small percentage off of the bill. We were so excited to try this place and were so disappointed that we will never be coming back.
Excellent food, service.. looking forward to come again. I always recommend the restaurant..
I had a very busy morning & made reservation with a friend who love breakfast spots, so I recommended this place. I loved that it wasn’t as crowded because I had a very busy day ahead of me & service was very swift. I ordered my Fruity Peebles pancakes with egg whites & turkey bacon. I couldn’t eat the entire meal because I was so full on the pancakes.
I prefer the uptown location for service and atmosphere. I did enjoy the trivia night though.
To classify this place as a diner is an insult to diners. It firmly belongs in Times Square. The restaurant was nearly empty at 10am on a Sunday, and yet it took 20 minutes for a waiter to come to our table with water and take coffee orders. It took almost 40 minutes to get standard diner fare - burgers and pancakes - and it was impossible to catch anyone's eye to take the check.
The food was mediocre. We didn't like our food. Many items from the menu that was supposed to be included with the meal was missing. Filthy diseased water fell from the Air conditioner in the roof on our food and drinks. The manager was rude, uncaring and unapologetic concerning our experience with the filthy water. I came to the establishment to celebrate my birthday, such a huge disappointment. Overall, a horrible experience. I will never recommend the restaurant to others!
Weekend in the city with the family
Waiter was the worst waiter I have ever had. He was so confused and it took about an hour and a half to get the food after waiting a half hour just to first take our order. Good came out cold and wasn’t worth it at all. Recommend avoiding this place.
We had an 11:45a reservist. Arrived at 11:28a and were told we just made it they were giving our table away. They sat us in the middle row at a 4top next to busing station when there were 4 open booths. We asked to be moved to a booth and were told they wer for 5or more even though they had booths with other parties of 4 or less.
Waited 20 minutes for them to take our order, they brought appetizers with the meals, Turkey Burkett’s was Raw punk and squishy and cold sent it back and was told it would be pink no matter what because it was turkey thigh not breast and by the time manager gave this explanation everyone else at the table was done eating. Waited another 20 minutes for a new burger just to be charged double and they wouldn’t take the turkey burger off the bill even though it was sent back. We were also charged for food we didn’t order. It took an additional 15 minutes to get those items taken off the bill. The manager clearly has no experience in customer service and limited social skills. The wait staff was spinning in circles and seemed clueless as to who was ordering what. My two children spent 30 minutes begging to leave because they were taking to long. DISASTER, not recommending to anyone ever in fact would highly NOT recommend it.
our waitress was really kind and funny
Host was very rude- arrived 10 minutes late for our reservation and he gave our table away and he was not nice about it at all. Usually restaurants give a 15 minute period of waiting time for reservations before giving a table away. He was very rude about it, but did end up giving us a table about 15 minutes later.
We love that Big Daddy’s is nut free! Food was delicious and so was the milk shake.
Went twice, had one miserable waitress and one upbeat nice waiter. So it balanced out.
Fast and excellent service. The waitress was amazing and really nice, even paying for our meal was quick. The music was old school and it was really cool just to sit and chat with friends in this amazingly odd diner.
Dined here before, but this we were seated right under the ceiling fan. The place was mostly employ but when we asked to be moved, the waitress would only offer a row of seats directly under the fans because as she said “we have to follow a certain seating arrangement” even though there were plenty of seats on the side. We got up and left. Lousy customer service!
We waited and watched people without reservations be seated before us. They took a long time for the food to come out and when it came it was wrong
The food was delicious but the restaurant seemed a bit run down. Torn seats, dusty, writing all over the bathrooms.
Very loud, we came for the Oreo pancakes and were disappointed. The booths are so old, you sink into them.
Extremely dusty and the walls are greasy. Took over and hour to get pancakes. Upstairs is crazy loud, we had to move tables.
it’s amazing every time. i usually go alone so i don’t have to share.
Very slow service. 1.30h to have a pancake. Not good service
My initial order was chicken with waffles and I requested only the wings. When I received the order it was everything but the wing, not to mention the chicken was burnt. I sent the order back and got the berry fruity pancakes, which was not fruity at all and the pancakes were dry. I asked for my side of bacon to be well done and it was very chewy. Very disappointing breakfast
Awful awful service. Mediocre food. Super noisy
Will not be returning anytime soon
Great choice of breakfast dishes, excellent quality and value for money. The atmosphere is memorable too, so is the decor. We highly recommend this place for breakfast / brunch.
We waited 50 minutes for our food to come. That is unacceptable. If the kitchen crew can't handle the lunch time rush, then they should be replaced.
The food was delicious and the service was very good. The music being played was very loud and that did detract a bit. Loved the creative menu options but the paper was worn and I felt that they could reprint them and that makes a much better first impression.
Sandwich was excellent. Will be back!
We brought a group of 18 French people to their first diner experience.
Unfortunately, they were not as welcoming as expected.
We called to say we would be a little bit late. They were not happy when we arrive saying we were an hour late whereas it was less than 25 min...
The food was abondant and good.
Not enough wait staff. Waited 30 minutes to place order. Food was meh. Sweet potato tots were the highlight of my meal.
Was very excited to be eating here because of the how the place looked. Food was great but service can definitely be improved. I’m a big fan of milkshakes and I was sad to find that every sip tasted like straight up chocolate syrup rather than a milkshake, presentation was beautiful though! Overall okay experience but after experience I’d probably pass on coming back.
Excellent background music!
Great meal and selection of menu items. Service was a bit slow but the restaurant was full so it was busy.
Would recommend for tourists as well for an authentic American diner experience!
Big Daddy’s is my favorite breakfast/diner spot in the city. The ambiance and food can’t be beaten.
My dining partners picked this one — not really my kind of place (loud, visually distracting). But the host was terrific and service was good. It’s a comfort food menu (hard to find healthy choices), but a positive experience overall.
We had a great meal at Big Daddy’s. My daughter has a peanut/tree nut allergy and is fearful of eating out. She bases her comfort level on how the wait staff responds when we ask about her allergy. Our waitress was very confident and told my daughter she could have anything on the menu because the owners child also has allergies. She was very relieved and had a great meal. Thank you Big Daddy’s for realizing that it’s important to have a safe place for allergy kids to eat. We will definitely visit again!
Good food and ambiance...feel like the restaurant could have been cleaner.
The food is amazing!!! Affordable too. Definitely worth the visit
