Big City Tavern - Las Olas Ratings and Reviews
Made a reservation for the patio, table was ready as soon as we walked in! Great table, quick and great service. I had the Butcher's Meatballs & Cheese Ravioli which was excellent! My wife had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich which was not very good. She only ate 1/2 and didn't even want to take the left overs home. But all and all, it was a good vacation
Very lively restaurant in great location. The food was very good. We had Rigatoni, Shrimp Pad Thai, chicken Milanese and marguerita pizza. All were very good and a bit different than I have eaten at a typical Thai or Italian restaurants which made it interesting and unique. Our waiter Greg was excellent and very attentive. It is loud and can get a crowded bar so if you are looking for quiet night out, this would not be the Place. If you are looking for a fun night out, with very good food, at a reasonable prices, you will be happy with this restaurant and bar.
We spent our second New Year’s Eve in a row with big city. It was packed and a lot of fun, however I did make my reservation several weeks in advance and we got stuffed in a back makeshift table, which we did not like. Other than the seating arrangement it was a good experience as per usual.
Food was amazing. I visited for brunch, made a reservation that morning and when we arrived our table was waiting for us. We got the French pressed coffee and the donuts of the day to start. The donuts were hot and the coffee was delicious. We ordered the buttermilk fried chicken and the crab Benedict. It was really. The fried chicken was so juicy and the crab Benedict portion was more than I expected. Everything was hot and the service was quick. We enjoyed our experience and I found myself craving that chicken sandwich later on in the day. Definitely a sign that the food was great.
Great evening with Jill, Matt and Jill’s friend. Traffic was horrible for both of us, Jill was coming down from Boyton, me up from Miami. Our server was super! I arrived first, had a cocktail....ordered some appetizers. Was trying to make sure our waiter would have a good tip. We had a nice dinner chat. Meatballs were super! Thai calamari also very nice. My skirt steak was perfect. This is NOT an I scale quiet evening, but perfect for what it was!
The very best thing about our dinner was the bread. Amazing, fresh, crunchy crust with garlicky oil. Service was very slow. They were promoting gift certificates with a bonus which we bought but then found out we couldn’t use them that evening. If we had been told that, we would not have purchased. The entrees ordered were good but overall because of the wait and misleading promotion, the experience was not a positive one.
Big City provides delicious food, generous portions, and a reasonable price. We had the fresh pan roasted salmon, and I had the blackened mahi with grilled mixed vegetables. Both dishes were tasty and generous. Service was excellent. It is a lively and fun place to go for dinner.
I didn’t really know the area so I went searching online and saw this restaurant. Read the reviews and saw they were a mixed bunch. I usually can read between the lines. I was absolutely right at choosing this eatery. My reservation was perfect. Great seats between dining room and patio. Was waited on immediately. I love pasta so I choose the Rigatoni bolognese. Unbelievable. And my guest had the shrimp pad Thai. Very authentic. Overall, I had an awesome dining experience and definitely will be back again.
My wife and I went here for a date night. As we walked in we were impressed with the decorations, we liked the layout of the place. The wait staff was friendly, and I felt welcomed. The menu was explained to us thoroughly and bread came to our table rather quickly. However, the bread was terrible and the oil for the bread tasted like pot grease.
My drink, a twist on the Moscow Mule was poorly done(the proportions of the ingredients weren't going together well). I ordered the pan seared tuna and my wife had a burger. Both meals came out fast and tasted great. The plates were very hot so i might assume that something's are microwaved considering how fast the food came out. But overall everything tasted good.
The crowd wasn't too loud, the music wasn't loud enough but the vibe was ok overall. We got in and out in an hour, didn't feel like staying much longer. There was nothing really bad about the place but I might Cross this one off of my list of places to go again. Everything was good but not great.
