Big City Tavern - Las Olas Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I went here for a date night. As we walked in we were impressed with the decorations, we liked the layout of the place. The wait staff was friendly, and I felt welcomed. The menu was explained to us thoroughly and bread came to our table rather quickly. However, the bread was terrible and the oil for the bread tasted like pot grease.
My drink, a twist on the Moscow Mule was poorly done(the proportions of the ingredients weren't going together well). I ordered the pan seared tuna and my wife had a burger. Both meals came out fast and tasted great. The plates were very hot so i might assume that something's are microwaved considering how fast the food came out. But overall everything tasted good.
The crowd wasn't too loud, the music wasn't loud enough but the vibe was ok overall. We got in and out in an hour, didn't feel like staying much longer. There was nothing really bad about the place but I might Cross this one off of my list of places to go again. Everything was good but not great.
This was my second visit to Big City Tavern for Sunday brunch. Terrible service both times. The servers were rude, short, and impatient. The dishes were dirty and had food stuck on them. When I pointed this out to the manager his only response was "okay...what else can I help you with?" No apology. It was like I was bothering him. This is probably why the waitresses are rude. A bunch of miserable people with watered down mimosas.
First time here and went for Sunday Brunch. Unlimited mimosas for $13 were more reasonable than some other places I have gone. The food was very good and generous portions. We plan to return for lunch and dinners. Service was very attentive considering it was super busy.
I normally love this place and have been going for 11yrs. And never a dispointment .For some reason my salmon was dry and tasteless and my husbands food was super salty. My Old Fashion drink was watered down, not the normal for Big City at all. Hope this was just an off night.
We are locals and very careful about where we dine. Every time we come here, we are so happy we did.
The food was wonderful! I ordered the tuna which had been highly recommended by a discerning guest from NYC who had loved it on a prior visit. It was as perfect as I’ve ever had. Premium cut, super/ fresh tuna with THE best veggies, including snap peas, bok choy and others. Menu says “wok/fried”, but these had no grease, just a ton of fresh taste. My husband had the Big City salad with fresh, large grilled shrimp on top. I tasted it — cooked to perfection.
The hostess noted our Open Table reservation and acknowledged a request I had made.
Our waitress was Lillian and she was great. Never rushed us, yet was very engaged — she even helped me decide between several entrees.
Highly recommended for a great meal, in a friendly, casual, well/organized restaurant with great atmosphere!
Our reservation was for an anniversary and was confirmed with staff however no one acknowledged our table for the special event - very disappointing!!
Food quality was very questionable, one medium rare steak arrived well done and new steak arrived after all were done with dinner, speghetti dinner was sticky and clumped together which had hard chewy spots, all meals were extremely salty and difficult to enjoy. We have dined here in the past and thought it would be a great experience for our friends first visit - they wont be back when there are so many great places to choose from!
