We are named after the famous bell in the clock tower at the house of parliament in London. The bell weighs about 14 metric tons. Is 9 feet in diameter and more than 7 feet high. It was installed when the tall and stout Sir Benjamin Hall was commissioner of works. He was called "Big Ben" and members of parliament named the bell for him. On new year's eve in 1923 the bell was first heard on the radio. In 1949, Big Ben and the floodlit belfry first appeared on t.v.

Great Fish and Chips, the best I have had in a long time. Would go back there anytime, great atmosphere, friendly wait staff, very inviting. Great Job Big Ben!

Waitress was clueless and the lamb was overcooked. My husband felt the Shepherds pie was "just ok"

I had a good time. Women playing great soccer on TV. Had enough room to enjoy my family time with a big top. Service was on spot. Staff was very friendly. Food was as close as I know to authentic. It was a good time.

Always enjoy a Saturday or Sunday meal here. Jena is the top server and always accommodating. Enjoy eating outside next to lightrail track. Inside is fine, too! Food is great ... especially the Fish & Chips.

Big Ben's is a customary favorite. Our waitperson, Jena, is the "best"! Always makes our visit special. Drinks are great, food is great, service is superb! I suggest the fish n chips, liver & onions, or Cornish Pasty! Bloody Mary and Mimosas are also great!

Super nice people, fun atmosphere and mostly great food. The black and blue salad was excellent, a 10! Steak on it was perfect. The bangers and mash and the Sheppard's pie were good, but pretty sure the potatoes were instant which seems like a huge miss. If they just made good real mashed potatoes I'd give it all a 10.
A few too many TV s for me, but terrific for sports fans

Good English food. Best fish and chips in Charlotte. Roast lamb was good but not the best. Yorkshire pudding delicious. Overall a good experience and worthy of a few more visits

While I received good service I did not feel like I was in a pub. The space is vast and did not have s lot of personality. The food was pub like and the bartender/waiter was very helpful making recommended meals suggestions. You will not leave hungry.

The food is very authentic and the offerings are similar to those found in English pubs. We had a great meal and a great time.

Looking for something simple and easy for my daughter. Saw this and it was home from home in terms of British pub food and setting. The food was decent quality and arrived quickly. Seemed to have a busy atmosphere and plenty of things to try behind the bar.

We enjoyed our Sunday Brunch. The English breakfast was delicious. The fish and chips good too. Just didn't like our area of seating on a little raised platform.

Our overall experience was mixed and note this was during restaurant week.

The ambiance was fun but all of our chairs were wobbly and felt like they were ready to fall apart. The noise level was rather loud but this this is a pub with people drinking and TVs playing so this was expected.

The crab and artichoke dip as an appetizer was amazing. I wish the portion was bigger. It is overpriced if that is what you got for the menu price. There was nothing special about the Welsh Rarebit. It tasted like cheesewiz mixed with horseradish sauce on bread. There are better items on the menu.

The fish fry was excellent and worth the trip. The batter was just right. There was nothing special about the shepherds pie. We have had much better so this was a major disappointment.

We had 3 deserts at our table. The bread pudding, the apple crisp and the sherry truffle. Once again, none of them were that spectacular that would make me want to order them again.

Our server Angie was terrible. She did not know much about the menu or any of the beers. We placed our appetizer order and told her we needed more time to check out the entrees. She just stood there and when we asked to come back she said OK and made some comment about bringing us a sedative. WTF!!! The rest of her service was equally bad. We would not return because of her!

Christmas dinner. Unfortunately, my friend got violently ill after eating the Chicken pot pie. My food was fine. The ambiance was very nice. Service was slow due to very high volume of business.

Updated review following New Year’s Eve Open Table reservation not being honored.

Big Ben is a staple in Charlotte. While it’s not a five star restaurant, it is a nice pub. They have several TVs to watch games, an electric fireplace on the wall, and very British decorations including Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan cut outs.
