BIERA - Ritchie Market
Loved it. Amazing atmosphere, incredible service, and the food was outstanding.
Food was great, but pretty loud in the restaurant, it’s hard to hear people at your table.
Loved it .... have recounted my meal; several times and thinking about when I can get back ! Wowza so yummy and a such a fun nite !
Loved the atmosphere and beer- however, I found all of the dishes to be heavily sauced. All had great flavor, just way too much sauce/dressing.
We had the Beef Tartare, Winter Green Salad, Alberta Grilled Duck Breast and Grilled Hen of the Woods Mushrooms.
I would recommend anyone go there. I was so surprised that I had never heard of it because it was so incredible.
We visited Biera for my wife's birthday. Made a reservation for a Friday night, and glad we did, it was nice and busy, but not hectic. We arrived about 10 mins early, but they were able to offer us a seat at a waiting table and the opportunity to order a drink (the beer was fantastic) and look at the menu. They were able to seat us right on time. The host/wait staff were excellent. They understood that it was a special evening, but also knew how to tactfully check in on us. As for the menu, the shared plates were perfect for us. We had a selection from the cheese bar (it was nice to have sheeps cheese as an option), with some pickles, mustard and sourdough crackers. Very delicious, we should have ordered some meats to go with it! We also had gnocci, octopus, and a few delicious beers. We tried the URB, BRO, and Fabhelles. It was also nice that they offered half-pints so one could sample more beer without getting too wasted! The food came out in a nice sequence, and it wasn't lke our table was crowded with plates. We will be back to try some more!
Dont know why we made a reservation. We reserved for 8:30 for 4 which they accomidate 2 hour seatings. We showed up on time, wearnt seated for 45 mins then the service was so slow to take our order that the kitchen closed before we had a chance to order more food or desserts (at 10:30). So I won't be returning for dinner, especially not with friends. The patio is lovely and beers tasty and well priced so afternoon patio beers might be an option in the future.
My wife and I had a great time at dinner! We loved the fact that we could share everything and even get kore if the same items we liked. The service was amazing and the beer was also great! I think it’s also awesome how you could order smaller glasses of beer so that you’re not stuck with drinking 1 larger glass.
We had a great time!
The restaurant was out of octopus, sparkling wine and certain cheeses. Not sure why they wouldn't add something else to the menu to at least replace the octopus.
My reservation was also mysteriously cancelled as we arrived, but they accommodated us.
It was an enjoyable evening. Slightly underwhelming for what I’ve heard, but still good.
The food here is excellent, and unique.
I was excited to try this restaurant, however left very disappointed. We tried a few different beers, which were all great. The food was disappointing. The chantrelle mushroom dish was salty and had an overwhelming vinegar-y taste. The beef tartare was also very salty, and the tender meat was doused in too much horseradish sauce. The pork shoulder was the highlight of the meal, but the salt in this dish was also overpowering and didn't allow for the delicate flavors of the jus to come through. Our server seemed a little too busy for us. Overall, I found this place over-hyped and overpriced for what it turned out to be.
We had a great first experience! The food was fantastic as well as our server Alison :). We actually purchased a gift card for family to come try it out as well.
My boyfriend and I have already planned out what we want to try next time... look forward to our next visit!
I always love going to Biera. It’s such a nice space with great food, beer and service!
Awesome, so impressed from the moment we arrived the entire time being there to the time we left.
The food is absolutely exquisite. Some of the sharing plates are enormous (the chicken) while others are rather small (the mushrooms and gnocchi for example). If you are a person who gives extra points for massive portion sizes, you will be disappointed, but if you are a person who values beautifully prepared, elegant and delicious food, you will be in heaven. My main criticism is that the noise level is too high, making conversation and visiting with friends difficult.
It was nice. We went as a group and shared some options but honestly, I think it was a little over priced for some of the dishes. They were a little different from other places which is nice but the duck was mediocre and the octopus was highly undercooked. Not bad tasting just didn’t quite hit the mark. I’d go back for the platters and drinks though.
Fantastic Service and the food is always delicious!
Biera was so good from start to finish. Specifically the pork shoulder and chantrelle mushrooms. We almost got another plate of the latter. We'll definitely come back again. The service was responsive, informative, but not intrusive/annoying. Beer and other drinks were also very good. This has probably made its way to my favourite spot in Edmonton now.
I enjoyed the creativity demonstrated in the menu. Our main criticism was that there was too many sauces which made the meal feel quite rich.
Fantastic place to eat great food and have a beer with friends!
Great service. Food and beverage options enjoyed.
We went as a group of four and enjoyed the food immensely. It was creative, complex and so tasty. We wished that the portions would be a little larger but still, given the quality of the food, felt that it was a good value. The only quibble we had was the pricing of the crackers and condiments that accompanied the cheese. $5 for five crackers and another $5 or $6 for a few tablespoons of jam seemed ridiculous to us. We did order two portions of cheese (50 grams each) and wondered if we would have been given 2 1/2 crackers had we ordered just one portion.
Amazing beautifully presented food and lovely staff!
The food tasted delicious, but the portions were a bit of a joke for the price. We ordered 8 dishes for 5 adults, which was not enough at all. While I understand that some of the dishes are going to be small (charcuterie, etc), dishes like roast potatoes should not be presented with 8 roast baby potatoes for $15. Bread should not be $10 for 5 slices of sourdough. Bring a loaf. The flavors and execution of the dishes was outstanding. Everything was spot on, it was just a little hard to get over the absurdly small portion sizes. I would go back on a date, but would not return if I was with a group of people.
Was expecting more -
Been here a few times now. Always for beer and a little snack. Beer is excellent, service is good, food is average at best and WAY overpriced. On our most recent visit pork was OK, roasted potatoes were meh, chanterelles were disgusting. Likely the worst dish I’ve ever tasted, not sure what chef was thinking there. Steak tartare was top notch though. Wine list is small, but excellent.
At first glance the BIERA menu is a little overwhelming with a lot of uncommon ingredients and different pairings but trust me it is worth trying. The food was amazing, when we had confusion about certain things on the menu our server was super approachable and willing to explain/give recommendations. I am not typically a craft beer drinker but the brews were delicious while also being unique. I would definitely recommend. Great place if you want a lively social scene. Definitely not the place for a quiet dinner for 2.
So creative, best meal in the city for ages. Unusual tastes beautifully executed. Licked the plates the sauces are so good.
I have been to Biera 8 times. I love the food and always have had great service.
The only recommendation I would have, is a better selection of wines, maybe six of each, whites and reds.
Keep up the great work.
Phenomenal tapas. Exceptional value! Non pretentious in a refined craft brewery setting. Love this spot
It was our first time there, and we were very happy with everything. Fantastic gastropub. Cheeses from around the world, great craft beers. You have to try it, absolutely.
Fabulous neighbourhood Gem! Great food & terrific service.
Food paired nicely with the beer. Great night
We had a great time at Biera! First visit and every dish was great. Love the shared plate style so get a bit of everything. Two gluten free people at our table had tons of choice and most plates could be modified easily!
Service was friendly and quick to confirm any menu choices with the chef. Loved that confidence on our usually sensitive ordering needs.
For the non-gluten free, we did not miss out on anything.... beer was great too!!
Open Table reservation system was weird on our attempt to reserve but it got sorted out... Going through restaurant website offered more available times.
We will be back before long!!
Too noisy because of the echo in the building. Beautiful building. Wish it was in Windermere.
Food was good however, having one or two dishes that are main stream would have been great. A guitar player or story teller would have topped off the evening.
Really great atmosphere and attentive (too attentive?) service. Flavors were great. But the portions are far too small for the price. We left hungry.
Our first visit was my wife's birthday on Halloween. Everyone in our party of 7 had a great time and thought the food, beer, service and ambiance were excellent.
The food and service was exceptional. It was quite loud and the tables felt very close together, but the overall experience trumped this. I highly recommend this place and will be back. You don't feel like you're in Edmonton.
If you want a meal don’t go here. Biera is more for tasting and sharing. We left hungry. The food the night we went can be summed up in one word. Salty. That included one of the desserts.
The beer though was great!
If you’re looking for something unique then this is the place to go. But I suggest you eat a meal before you go.
