Bier Markt - Ottawa
The Bier Markt first opened its doors in Toronto in 1999 and has grown to 4 unique restaurants in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal. At the Bier Markt we draw our inspiration from Northern Europe - its culture, passion for food and of course it’s dedication to the beautiful art of brewing bier. The Bier Markt boasts a selection of over 150 biers from over 30 countries and local craft brews. The Bier Markt is not only infamous for the bier selection but for a “made from scratch” approach to cooking while perfectly pairing bier with some of Europe’s classic dishes and North American favourites. There’s never a dull moment at the The Bier Markt. Each restaurant has its own built in stage to feature great, local cover bands playing the best of the today’s and yesterday’s anthems. The Bier Markt’s exceptional AV packages also make it a great place to catch the game with friends. Prost!

Great place, service was wonderful and the food was delicious.
Good beer selection
Absolutely delicious food and great selection of beers!
Nice open high ceilings. Love the calamari. All our coffees and cappuccinos were cold. Not sure how that happens.
The service was a bit long. The food was a little bit expensive for what it is worth.
The food was quite nice and the service was lovely but I found $65 including tax and tip for lunch for two people (with only one alcoholic beverage in total) too steep. I will think hard before returning.
Very nice place to eat and have a good chat. Good service and big plates
Food here has went way downhill. Tried nachos, pretzels with dip and the seared tuna
Tuna was on raw slices vegetables
Nacho cheese was not melted
And pretzel dip was for sure pre made and super salty
Server did not know if they had non alcoholic beers or what tea selection.
Won’t be back.
Great as per usual!
Great stop for a lunch...great atmosphere and great selection of beers
Never disappointed with the food and the beer ! Awesome place
Decent food, but not outstanding. Tried a burger and my bf had a pizza. He was disappointed by the size and lack of flavour. There are some interesting beer choices. Professional service. Not much ambiance. Good location.
Unfortunately the food was very overcooked and dry. Both the salmon and schnitzel we had were way overcooked. We've eaten here before and it was much better.
Friendly service, disappointing the menu has been so reduced. The beer selection is pretty limited.
Our server was excellent! We did feel sorry for her as there was a couple of tables around us that weren’t following the rule for COVID, she handled herself very professionally.
Great location, only a 8 minute walk from the downtown hotels.Pleasant staff and very attentive. Portions are large and of good value.
The food and service were great and lots of outdoor seating well-spaced apart. The only thing I would say is that when we ordered the two shareable appetizer boards, one was to come with hard boiled eggs and it didn't and we had to ask for them to be added. I am sure an easy mistake to make - but it was missed. That's pretty much it, the rest was perfect.
I had the seared tuna poke bowl - amazing! They served the tuna barely cooked (YUM!) and the quinoa, chickpeas greens and beets in the bowl were super fresh and nicely dressed. Not only delicious, but healthy too! I didn't expect such a generous serving of the tuna either - all in all, I expected good, but got great! I will be back!
This is the second time in the last few weeks that I have had a bad experience with the food at Bier Markt. I will not be booking there again.
The mussels in Provençal sauce were fantastic! Thoroughly enjoyed the Belgian Lager. I will return.
I had the charcuterie board and it was very disappointing. No presentation, just a slide of cheese slapped on a board. Totally not worth the money.
Super bon service! Le repas était parfait ! Ambiance plus que parfaite
Great food and wonderful service !
Great place for seating bigger groups. Good service, food menu was different than what was shown online but still a good selection of menu items. Beer selection was amazing!
I would recommend only because one of my colleagues said his burger was really good, but even though the restaurant was half-empty, it took longer than I would have expected to be asked for and served drinks; my friend never got her lemon for her water; decaf Americano not available, my farmhouse salad was ok (way too much lettuce and very little chicken); it took a very long time for dessert to come (by that time the restaurant was empty so I did not see why the delay), we were sitting in the first booth and every time the door opened or closed, it was freezing. I would have to try it a couple more times to make my mind up for sure, but overall it was not enough for me to go back soon.
It was great to be back at the restaurant. The service was very good the waitress herself Celeste, had a great sense of humour was very helpful with healthy meal choices for dinner and even though she was a bit stressed with some of the other clients and because of the way they were treating her she always had a smile on her face and it made our dinner all the better and more fun.
Looking forward to coming back! Keep the duck appetizer. It's a fantastic choice!
Great food! We appreciated how the server made changes for our pizza request. We asked for goat cheese on our pizza instead to blue cheese. It was the best pizza ever!! The red high chairs with the back rest were a bit uncomfortable. They looked very new, yet were not best designed. We kept sliding downwards from them.. It was kind of funny. We thought about asking the server to change our table, but then put something underneath our self from sliding forward and it helped to helped a foot bar near our feet area to keep us from sliding down. Just wanted to bring that to your attention though.
Food and drinks were good. Great bar service but a little busy at this table. High noice level. Cassandra was great and took very good care of us in many regards. Happening place on a Friday night. Had a coupon for a free appetizer so cost of dinner was very reasonable.
Dissappointed because cauliflour dish was not available, no mushrooms with the steak, and some bier choices were not available.
Had the Farmers Chicken Salad. Would not order it again... Chicken was tough and cold, egg was nowhere near soft boiled. The rest of our food was ok.
Kids home from University and looking for a cool pub to have a couple beer and good eats. They had “run out” of one of the beer ordered but ones we did get were nice and cold. Server was a bit slow taking orders and checking in if we needed more. Food was over priced and bland. Charcuterie board expensive for what you get...basically 3 pieces of each meat ordered, 2 pieces of each cheese and only 3 slices of toasted bread. Pizzas had no taste and they also were out of spinach so could not get one of the pizzas wanted. Beef dip sandwich seemed to be the only meal liked out of the 6 meals ordered.
Disappointed overall and will not go back, many other pubs in the area to choose from next time.
Excellent food. Excellent service.
I ordered top sirloin steak but the meat was as it was in the menu. It was chewy and barely eatable.
Took "beet and quinoa salad"with radish shavings. Wow what I got was micro cubes of beets hidden in a mountain of spinach with a tastless dressing.
Staff are well trained on all the beers that are sold. It's refreshing to find a place that can pair fine ales with the food menu. The schnitzel was outstanding. I strongly recommend this restaurant to anybody who has enjoyed the fine dining of Belgium.
3 of 4 of us came for gouda beef dip....sold out and it was 1pm Thursday...disappointing.
Our $41 bottle of wine is $10.95 at LCBO!
Even though I made a reservation they stuck Us in the very last table in the very back of the restaurant. Also disappointing.
Food is always good every time we visit (the duck wings are so good that I crave them all the time) and our server Tryston was absolutely delightful. He was fun, very nice, and very attentive. He was always asking us if we wanted refills or if he could get us anything. We will definitely be going back and asking to sit in his section again. It's one thing to always have good food, but it's a completely different thing to have amazing service.
Although the questions ask's, "Would you recommend Bier Markt....." I did state "yes", buit there is a "but" attatched to the statement. I really enjoy German-themed venues especially with Oktoberfest fast appraoching, but if you are going to attempt german style food, know what you are getting yourself into. After arriving at the restaurant, we were quickly seated and there seemed to be an abundance of staff present, but it was clear that they clearly lacked working together, as the service seemed very disorganized. Our drink order was taken quickly but there was a large lag in the actual delivery of the beverage, and from a completely different person, as well once the order was taken, and the restaurant did not seem busy, we waited.... and waited.....finally the serves came over an apologized and said the "dish" would be "compted". When the dish finally arrived, and it was a regular item on the menu, it was clearly overcooked. Although the ambiance of the restaurant is fun, the prices on the menu do not equal the value.
Will I return? Maybe.
...but Bier Markt needs to step up their game.
To friendly, did not serve us water,
Small plate for the price,
Excellent food and ambiance! The only thing I didn’t like was the chairs, they are slippery and you feel like you’re falling off.
