Lovely evening with fab food and strong beer 😀
Brilliant food drinks, amazing staff was very helpful had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend
We arrived at 4:30 for a table booked for 4:45pm and were told that only nibbles were available not the whole menu which was fairly limited in any event. The place is mainly a beer kellar with an extensive range of Belgian beers. After 15 minutes they told us that if we wanted until 5pm, we could choose from the main ( limited) menu. So we stayed. The waitress service was good and the food quality, for what it was, was good.
We really liked this. Not often we’re dazzled by a drinks menu but the beer list is amazing. We were grateful for the patient answers to some pretty under informed questions. Food was very good with only one dish being slightly disappointing. Service was friendly and efficient. And a great atmosphere. Really can recommend
Lovely food and excellent selection of Belgium beers to choose from. Very pleasant and prompt service.
Can't wait for my next visit.
This place is a welcome change to the normal. The beer choice alone makes it a must see. The tapas style food is excellent and the service by the staff the same.
Lovely authentic style bar tucked away. Decor fab, food tasty and fun, choice of beer mind-blowing
Our first experience here and recommended to us by my family. Had a fabulous lunch. Two of us had a float of our choice of 3 beers and our friend had a large glass of delicious Rosé. The mussels were so sweet and plump. We will be booking a second visit for this week
Brilliant service! The mussels were gorgeous as well as the beer.
Great friendly service with an amazing selection of beer! The food was lovely just one small plate wasn’t warm but don’t let that stop you it was a great night and probably our favourite over the week in St Ives 👍🏻
Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff food was fab and beers were amazing lots of choice
Really enjoyed the Tapas offerings.
Reasonably priced & very tasty.
Service just right - manageress particularly engaging.
Thanks for nice evening.
The food was greasy and not enough care had been taken in preparation. Lack seasoning and some of it was left too long in the fryer.. The beers were good and the staff were very nice abd accommodating, however the good was what we were there for hence the poor rating
Really enjoyed our meal. There were plenty of options, plenty of Belgian bear if that’s your thing. Staff were really courteous and prompt with their service. I would definitely go back and definitely recommend to others.
Great place and service a little on the expensive side for food and drink but what you get is of good standard and quality
Great beer choices, loved the mussels and frites. Sadly didn't have room for waffles after! Great location, friendly and attentive staff. Decor was great. Felt cosy but not cramped. Spotlessly clean for all those covid worriers!
Long wait for food was the only downside. And no room for pudding so we will have to go back!
9pm sitting and lots of items on the menu were not available.( problems with deliveries and selling out) Huge selection of beers. Great atmosphere.
Really enjoyed the moules and frites and loved the huge selection of beers. Service was fabulous and will definitely visit again.
I booked a 1st slot of 6pm hoping to have the schnitzel on the menu only to find not available as their deliveries had not come that day. The meatballs was ok but the menu is limited. Also the waffle was pleasant but would have been better if honey or syrup could have been available.
Nice atmosphere and a wide variety of beers. Will try again next year.
Well worth a visit if only for a beer. The big muscles are great.
Amazing place 🤩
We were late to our table as previous diners still there, we then waited 30 mins to even be offered a drink. Table was not a dining table, but a wingback chair, window seat and a coffee table not suitable to dine from….
Disappointed to say the least
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit everything was spot on the food drinks service were all amazing, it’s a great quirky place with a fun friendly atmosphere .
We enjoyed our meals and drinks (which are a huge part of the cafe's offerings) at the Bier Haus cafe. The venue had a really nice relaxed ambience with perfect lighting and background music, staff were friendly and gave just the right amount of time for us to peruse the menu, particularly the one showcasing the extensive range of Belgian biers which my partner and son enjoyed sampling.
The food was very nice, especially the mushroom sauce that came with the schnitzel, however the menu was very limited, especially for vegetarians/vegans. I do understand this is only a temporarily reduced menu though.
I was a little frustrated there were no soft drinks on tap - everything seemed to be available in small bottles so were particularly poor value for non-drinkers which pushes up the bill. Prices were fairly expensive however on a par with other eateries in St Ives. We would definitely consider another visit if we were in the area.
Booked a table well in advance at this restaurant. When we arrived was told by a staff member that they were no longer serving food. We received no notification of this from the restaurant. Very poor service
Had a lovely welcome from Jess, although it was to cancel our food reservation, drinks only - due to kitchen malfunction. This was the second time we’ve been cancelled and let down as Bier Haus cancelled our reservation on Monday too. ☹️
I’ve had to cancel a further reservation, as I don’t want to be let down at the last moment.
Large menu for beers .
Great food and fantastic beer selection . Highly recommended. Only comment is that it would benefit from more vegetarian options.
Great place the mussels were the best
Nice welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, food was lovely but pricey - (worth the price though). Beer is expensive but that what you visit for so you expect that, you can buy some of the same beers in a supermarket for half the price. Only real issues were that the table we were seated on was so small that you couldn't fit both plates and drinks on at the same time without some advanced level tetris skills. Also, the service was very slow, we waited about 30 mins for the bill.
Great selection of Belgian beers - lots of well known favourites as well as plenty of lesser known varieties to try. Decent food and good service, even in busy periods. Nice little retreat away from the busy streets, could quite happily be in Belgium for an hour or two... then step back outside and hear the seagulls and it’s back in St Ives again!
Really enjoyed our meal - chicken schnitzel was excellent and the waffle pudding. Great service too
Fantastic range of beers. Menu choices were reduced due to Covid difficulties but what was on offer was enough to suit our dining requirements. Food was good quality and well cooked (chicken schnitzel and Thai style mussels) One waffle between two was sufficient for us as the mains were generous. Dining rooms, on ground floor and 1st floor, were full but not overly noisy. It was warm on the upstairs level but waitress was able to open an external door to help reduce the heat and help ventilation. I will definitely visit this place again - I hope it survives as it is an original concept, serving quality and varied flavoursome beers that remind me of fantastic holidays in mainland Europe where the beers are top notch. Great place.
Friendly and welcoming staff, great service, lovely ambience and good food..and the Belgian beer menu was pretty fine too! Definitely one of our favourite places to visit in St Ives.
Brilliant evening, attentive service, excellent selection of drinks, food superb & lovely atmosphere
Amazing place full of character! Lots to look at. Extremely strong beer, you’ll literally leave legless! Lovely staff and they were very accommodating for our dog George he even had a doggy beer. They also offer doggy fries and burgers. The food was lovely 👌🏼 And the waffles looked fab. Would highly recommend!
Amazing place will most definitely be returning 😊
A limited menu due to staff shortages (all companies facing this so no complaints from me) however the food we did have was excellent
The beer was also especially good :)
I look forward to visiting next year
The restaurant was very busy, and it appeared that we missed our 'slot' as we were not ready to order when so invited. This ultimately resulted in our food only arriving after about 50 minutes, and after prompting.
But it was very nice when it did arrive.
Great table, informed limited menu via email, hadn’t realised how limited menu was ( have a very fussy eater) however we managed. Overall from a disappointing start, great meal.
