Bida Manda Restaurant and Bar
Our parents' recipes are the inspiration for our menu. Every dish on our menu is exactly what we grew up eating. They are the kind of dishes you might find on the street corners of Luang Prabang and at a Laotian home.

We eat at Bhavana all the time and its excellent. We were so disapointed by Bida. The food was just poor. The chicken fried rice was terrible.
We just celebrated my husband's birthday lunch here. The waitstaff was fantastic -- even brought my husband a birthday treat. I wish I could give the restaurant 5 stars but need to be honest -- the food was a stage above mediocre. This is such a highly rated restaurant and I truly don't know why. I was very disappointed in my green papaya salad with lemongrass chicken. I expected cut boneless chicken like every other green papaya salad I have had -- even in Bangkok. Instead, I got a salad with a chicken thigh and drumstick -- skin and all beside the salad. It was very difficult to eat -- the knife I was given barely cut the chicken. Eventually I grew frustrated and gave up. I gave the restaurant 4 stars instead of 3 because my husband enjoyed the pork belly soup. I also feel I need to warn people that this establishment is located in downtown Raleigh where there is only paid parking on the street or in a parking deck. Thankfully we arrived early and found a place -- if we would have been any later, I think I would still be searching. Overall -- just mediocre.
Great place we always enjoy the continuity of service and food.
Fantastic. No other words. Service was fantastic (Cliff - sorry if misspelled), food, drinks, everything. Will go back without a doubt - great place for date night. Can't wait to try Brewery Bhavana.
This has become our favorite restaurant in Raleigh, it's always our go to! Every aspect is top notch, food, drinks, service, atmosphere. Haven't found another place in Raleigh that even comes close. Can't say enough good things!
The food was very good, excellently seasoned and prepared. Great flavor profiles on the Pumpkin Curry and the Ginger Cashew Chicken. Atmosphere was noisy, service was good. Another nice downtown experience.
Party of 8
Second time and just as good as the last visit after 3 mos. staff was friendly and Hospitable.
Never disappoints. Great food, well prepared and excellent service. Just make sure you make reservations far ahead. Popular place.
Their core dishes are incredible, and I love the feeling created by the tied-wood decor. Definitely recommend this to friends.
We got to our reservation on time. The table was ready for us. The server was good not great. She did all the right things, but missed a few steps, like checking to see if every thing was ok. Offering another drink after we finished our first. We also spilled a Bottle of wine (luckily only About 1/2 a glass) because there was a dumb natural 1 inch divot in the table. I get being rustic. But common. That’s just silly. Food was very good. They were out of chicken curry. Really, the 10 gallon bucket of curry ran out
Or was it the chicken. Either way not a huge deal just surprising. Also to note weren’t told befor ordering. Like oh by the way before you take your time to review the whole menu and get your heart set on one item. We are out of one thing. Woulda been nice to know. For the money. Go to second
Empire. They have real 5 star service.
This restaurant is a must! So delicious and a fun date spot. I got the curry and my boyfriend got the crispy pork belly soup - both entrees were simply amazing.
Food was so flavorful and amazing, I can't stop raving to my friends about this restaurant. I don't remember our server's name, but his service was exceptional from friendliness to menu knowledge.
Bida Manda is always great, hands down one of the best restaurants in the area.
Love the restaurant. Food is excellent. Reservations recommended.
Simply the best!
If you have no problem paying $21 for completely average pad thai, this is the spot. Is it adorable? Yes. Is the service great? Yes. Do the cocktails complement the food? No. (Coffee bourbon and pickle juice gin are standalone delicious but wtf with Asian fusion.) Is everything outrageously overpriced? Definitely. You will surely have a nice evening, but I've never plopped down $120 at any Thai spot for a couple of very basic entrees, 2 drinks, and a dessert.
Savannah was great!
We did have to wait for our table, but the staff was very friendly and gave us dessert for our wait (which was very appreciated). The food was amazing
Always great. Always consistent. Only drawback was two of four meal orders were not filled correctly (self-admitted server error), however it was all taken care of by management and it was the first time out of a dozen+ visits that a misfire happened. Love. Love. Love.
It is always a pleasure to dine at Bida Manda. Thank you for outstanding food, service and atmosphere!!
Would go back in a second. Our waiter (Clyde) was super knowledgable and helpful. Food was amazingly good and tasteful.
As always, spot on!
Incredibile food and excellent service
great food and excellent service. very accommodating!
Great place for Asian food. Great service and the experience was fantastic. Would come back anytime.
As always, Bida Manda did not disappoint! Our server went far above and beyond to make our occasion special. I'm still dreaming about the Anaheim pepper appetizer....
Food is consistently good. Servers and hosts are always friendly and work together.
Simply outstanding. Our favorite restaurant in Raleigh. The food (especially the sea bass), the service, the ambience, and the commitment to Laotian culture and values make this our go-to choice when in Raleigh for theater and other special occasions. Bida Manda has established itself as one of the great dinner destinations in the Triangle.
Amazing food and service
This was our first time dining at Bida Manda, and the food and service were both outstanding. Our server was Jordan and he was extremely attentive. We especially appreciated his recommendation for wine, and the pacing of our meal was perfect. Thank you for a lovely time!
We had an amazing meal at Bida Manda. The food was some of the best on our journey south and the service was definately the best. We had the crepes which were light and delicious.
I was taken there by a friend for my birthday and we both liked it so much that we went back for hers...in the same month! Our food sensitivities (GF and DF) were easily managed with many choices and the blending of flavors was superb. I will definitely go back!
I absolutely love coming to Bida Manda.
The green papaya salad (with cripsy dill trout) is amazing, fresh spring rolls are amazing, pad thai, fried rice, pho, curry, everything food wise has NEVER let us down.
Always make a reservation and be prepared for a noisy atmosphere... it's not a place for a quiet, cozy conversation... but you'll be too busy stuffing your face with delicious food to talk too much!
The service was great (Thank you, Cliff!) and as always, the food did not disappoint!
This place does not need much of my words. An unreal food experience and not only is the food amazing but the staff is very knowledgeable and I only have good things to say. Can't wait to go back
Food, drinks, service and ambiance was superb. It would have been nice to have a tiny, little bit more of light at our table to see the details on the dishes presented to us but even then it was not truly necessary to enjoy our dinner. Overall an outstanding experience.
The food and atmosphere were both great. One issue was that Upon making the reservation i mentioned we had a birthday that we were celebrating and I even mentioned to our waitress to check the reservation notes yet we did not receive any acknowledgement of my girlfriends birthday. I’m hopeful that this type of oversight isn’t common for Bida Manda or any of their sister establishments.
I've never had Laotian food before so I didn't know what to expected when I visited Bida Manda, but now having eaten at this amazing restaurant I would gladly make it a stop whenever I visit Raleigh. The food was unique and delicious. I ordered the Beef Larb which was fantastically prepared and ran the gamut on flavor from savory to spicy. For dessert I had the sweet sticky purple rice which was also an amazing and unique dish. However, barring the great food the one thing that would make me recommend this restaurant to anyone I meet would be the amazing wait staff. I can honestly say, that I have never had a more friendly or knowledgeable server at any restaurant I have ever been to and she definitely turned my dining experience from just eating good food at a new place to a truly wonderful night out in Raleigh.
