I had never had Laotian food before and was delighted to find so many palatable dishes from which to chose. I especially like stir-fry and greatly savored the cashew chicken that I ordered. Will definately be back!
Went with friends for anniversary. Server Patrick was amazing with great suggestions & attentiveness. The best food!! The pork belly soup has literally thebest tasting broth I have ever had. Awesome environment. Attentive service. Delicious unique food. Best of the triangle!!
Utterly exceptional. I have no other words than that.
Loved everything about this restaurant! Great food and cozy atmosphere. Very attentive and friendly staff!
Every time we dine there we leave even more impressed. Fresh tasting, full of flavor dishes. The bday dessert surprise was a nice touch. We'll be back!
Great, can't wait to go back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This restaurant was worth the reservation wait for sure. It was absolutely wonderful! I give it 5 stars across the board. Belstar champagne, lettuce wraps, spring rolls, safron crepes with shrimp and bacon and basil stir fry with tenderloin. We LOVED it.
Delicious food and the rare opportunity to try Lao cuisine! I ordered the Lao breakfast baguette, which was quite similar to banh mi, one of my favorite foods. It was fantastic, especially if you love pork belly, and the meat was very high quality. The palate cleansers after the meal were a nice touch. We went for lunch, which was much more affordable for an everyday meal for us than dinner. The entire menu is dairy-free except for dessert, which was great for me! Make sure you tell them any food restrictions, and they're happy to accommodate.
I have been to Bida before for my birthday about two years ago. The food was amazing, hence why I decided to bring my friend back for her birthday. However, we were underwhelmed with both the service at the bar and the food. We ordered the fresh spring rolls which were delicious, actually the best thing we ate. Then we ordered the papaya salad with filet (the papaya salad itself was tasty but the steak was cold and very tough. Next we had the pad Thai, in which we sent back because it had too much tamarind and was completely red in color like pasta sauce. We then ordered basil chicken, which was alright but very bland. The vegetables however were crisp and plentiful. Overall, the bar staff was pretentious and talked down to us like we had no idea what fine dining should look like.
Great restaurant! Food and service were amazing! Great for a nice dinner out. Love this place.
Moscow mule without a copper mug defeats the purpose. Take it out of the menu or bring copper mugs in! Great food, a little expensive but delicious. Service could do with a little more refinement. 3/5
It was my turn to choose the restaurant for a monthly lunch with friends. I read the reviews, so I had a good idea of what we could expect. There were 4 of us and we got two appetizers to share; the spring rolls and the sausage. The spring rolls were excellent, and the sausage was good. I am not fond of sausage. We got two entrees and two people shared each entree. They were both the green papaya salad, one with the steak and one with the chicken. They were great. We were thinking that we were going to get a green salad with papaya in it. But the green refers to the papaya not being ripe. The dish is served in a purple cabbage leaf and the unripened papaya, which is white is shredded and there are a few tomatoes, and nuts, and a sauce, along with sticky rich and the meat. We were surprised, but not disappointed. We ordered the trio dessert to share, and it was delicious. They gave each of us a complementary shot glass of delicious coffee to top the meal off. We will be back.
Our first visit and won’t be our last! The food and service was exceptional, thank you Joe for making our Bida Manda experience memorable!
First time there and we loved it from the moment we walked in the door. Very cozy interior with tasteful decor. We had a reservation for lunch (yes, I am a planner), and we were seated right away despite the restaurant being full with other parties waiting ahead of us. The food is delicious, and the waitress was very helpful sharing the most popular dishes. We took her recommendations and ordered the lettuce wraps, soup and chicken curry. EVERY SINGLE BITE was delicious. The lettuce wraps were AMAZING and the best bite I took. The flavors are like no other I have ever had, and I am a foodie. DELICIOUS. We got macaroons for dessert, one of the cookies was overcook but the flavors were there. We told the waitress the cookie was overdone and it was comped. I still ate it because it was delicious. They finished the meal with an iced Laotian coffee that was perfect. We will definitely be back and can not wait to take our (vegan) daughter, as the menu was vegan friendly as well. Ten stars from start to finish.
Every time we eat at Bida Manda, the food is even more incredible than the last... And I thought the very first time we went was one of the best meals I had ever eaten, but this restaurant continues to blow my mind. There is not a single mediocre dish on the menu, their drinks are delicious, and the staff are super attentive and personable. By far my most favorite restaurant in the country.
Having read the extremely positive reviews over the past year, we finally made a reservation with very high expectations. I am sorry to say that I am now wondering what all of the hype is about. The food is just average, nothing great. Our server, Karly, was excellent, however.
For example regarding the food, the lettuce wraps are a tasteless baseball size glop of crunchy rice on lettuce leafs with a few slices of cucumbers and chili sauce. I also had the stuffed pepper which again was tasteless and dry. My spouse ordered the saffron crepes which he enjoyed very much. The trio dessert was very good.
All in all, this is an average restaurant (certainly nowhere near the best in town as some reviews declare). Atmosphere is stark with very uncomfortable chairs. The food is just okay to very good and not worthy of the high priced dinner menu. The service is excellent, though. There are too many great choices for restaurants in the greater Raleigh area. This one just doesn’t make our list for a return visit or recommendation.
We went for a friend’s birthday. Two inthe party of five had visited Laos and were anxious to try the food. The waiter, Cliff was great; very attentive, made suggestions, and brought dessert sampler for the birthday guest. We will return!
Always a pleasure to eat there. The service was excellent and the food was and always is amazing!
Amazing food, superb service (Jess was Awesome) and reasonable pricing. Quickly becoming my favorite spot in downtown raleigh.
Great food, enjoyable place
Such a gem of a place. Genuine, nice people and amazingly tasty food :) What a difference that can make!
Bid Manda is simply outstanding in every respect, probably the greatest dining treat in the Triangle.
Fabulous dinner and service. Highly recommend
Great food and experience as always. Definitely one of our favorites.
Always a phenomenal experience. I tried the Saffron Crepe and it was absolutely amazing. My husband had the Sea Bass and it melted in your mouth. He only allowed me one bite, so I might have to go back and order that again! Can't wait to go back again soon!
Food was great! The atmosphere was very nice too.
Had a wonderful lunch with a friend. Service couldn't have been better and the Pina Colada was to die for.
The experience at Bida Manda is consistently great. The space is fun, the service is good, and the food is unrivaled. Reservations are hard to come by for dinner but are easier to get at lunch. Either way, it’s worth the wait!
This was my 5th time coming. I love coming here. The atmosphere is positively gorgeous and service, as usual, was incredible. I was, however, deeply disappointed with the food. I don't know whether the kitchen was having an "off night" (which totally happens, having worked in many restaurants back in the day) or what but all of us who have been here multiple times all commented on how the food was not nearly as impressive as times past. My husband, who never ever does this, even sent his food back. His replacement was much better but he still commented on it not being up to par. Everything seemed thrown together and lacked flavor. A little disappointed, however, we'll be back and try again.
Absolutely amazing!! The environment is exciting yet calming at the same time and the staff extremely knowledgeable about the cuisine and how it should be appreciated and consumed. Awesome experience.
We LOVE this place. It never disappoints, highly recommend. It may be difficult to get reservations on fri/sat, so plan ahead!
We haven't had a dining experience in a long time where all the points were hit. The ambience was beautiful and tasteful. The service was impeccable and not just our server, the whole staff was friendly, caring, and helpful. They seemed genuinely pleased that you were there and wanted you to have the best experience possible. The food was transporting. We had great recommendations and tried a tasted of the menu. We will be going back!
As good as advertised. Great meal and great experience.
Food was excellent and so was the service as the restaurant is very busy. A little pricy, but other than that, a great experience
All dishes we tried were excellent and very creative. Service was very good, waitress was attentive and honest about food regarding ingredients.
Bida Manda was quite good! i had never been to a Laotian restaurant before although i have been enjoying Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, Burmese food for a very long time. A friend and I went for lunch. My yellow chicken curry was delicious and perfectly spiced for my taste ... i usually order yellow curry in various asian restaurants because it isn't too spicy and it includes potatoes. in this case, there may have been a few too many root vegetables but delicious nonetheless. My friend ordered the crispy pork belly soup which i probably would order the next time. it's coconut milk based and she loved it, reminded her of Tom Kha Kai which is a favorite. i also might like to order their green papaya salad, a favorite of mine. our server was excellent, very knowledgeable and friendly ... all in all, i'll be back. The next door restaurant, Brewery Bhavana is owned/managed(?) by the same Laotian couple and i enjoyed it with friends during the Christmas holidays. unique with delicious (they call it Chinese) food and, again, excellent service!
