Bida Manda Restaurant and Bar
Our parents' recipes are the inspiration for our menu. Every dish on our menu is exactly what we grew up eating. They are the kind of dishes you might find on the street corners of Luang Prabang and at a Laotian home.
Come in and go away with us on sensational culinary journey to Laos.
Whether it is a birthday dinner for 10 guests or a corporate event for 100+, we will work with you to craft your memorable dining experience. Please contact Vansana Nolintha at email@example.com for more information.
What an amazing experience! The service was fantastic, the food and drinks were unbelievable and the overall night was incredible!
Food was delicious as always. Service was a little off for some reason, but I would definitely go again.
LOVE THIS PLACE; consistently has delicious food and excellent service (attentive, friendly and knowledgable staff!!!)
An excellent restaurant with great, interesting dishes including the macaroons! Terrific cocktails and we had a friendly and knowledgeable waitress. Bida Manda offers a rare opportunity to taste Laotian cuisine - it’s delicious- in a laid back friendly atmosphere. It’s in my top three of Raleigh restaurants.
Excellent Good, Service and a great experience.
We will be back! First time here but now we are hooked. Food is excellent, ambiance great, just all around fantastic.
Great food and service!!
The food was amazing, but the wait for the food was a bit long.
Waitress messed up, which i don't blame her for, but it added time to how long i had to wait. Waitresses suggestions and explanations were spot on-- very knowledgeable.
When i walked in the door, the initial staff just stared at me. No greeting until i initiated. Polite, but cold.
Restaurant itself was extremely dark. Kind of strained my eyes to read the menu. Maybe add a little bit of light.
Food is once again very excellent. Felt a bit expensive, but literally only because of the initial lack of greeting and the darkness.
Bida Monda never disappoints. Service is superior, staff is always enthusiastic, energetic and knowledgeable. Food is always fresh, flavorful and consistently superior. Restaurant does get a little loud during peak hours, can be difficult to have a conversation across the table. Will be booking reservations again for our next dinner...
My pork belly soup was amazing. It is big enough to share. The pork spring rolls were great also. The dipping sauce was tasty . It seemed to have garlic and peanuts in the sauce. There was plenty of leftovers. I Lao had the Brazilian national drink. I loved it. I will be back again
Way out of the ordinary. Delicious and exotic selection of what I assume are traditional Laotian dishes. Spices and flavoring were outstanding. Best part of the evening was our wonderful wait person, Christina, who made sure we tried the things we should and did it all with a smile and enthusiasm. A thoroughly enjoyable evening and one we will repeat
This restaurant was far too expensive for the quality of food. It felt like I was paying for trendiness. We had Pad Thai and Curry (costing more than $40 combined), and it was not any better than any other Thai restaurant which would cost half that price.
Love the lunch menu for BIda Manda has great options just like dinner, but quieter.
Always a delight to be welcomed into this charming space.
The staff did an excellent job in celebrating our anniversary with us! We were given free appetizers and dessert! So thankful for fun servers!
The service was phenomenal. My wife and I had our anniversary dinner here and they treated us like family. We had our two little ones with us and the servers handled them like pros.
Food was amazing!
The food was very good. But the hype associated with the restaurant did not equate with the experience. Which is obviously not the restaurants fault. I was expecting a more upscale experience, as this was the called the place to go. I would go again, but not first choice.
This was a fantastic dining experience. Not having had Laotian food before we weren't sure what to expect; it turned out to be quite a treat! We shared an appetizer of Luang Prabang lemongrass sausage, made with pork and pork belly and served with pickled ginger and fresh dill. It is one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted! For entrees we had Nam Leoung, a saffron crispy crepe with shrimp and bacon (there is also a vegetarian version). It was really different and bursting with wonderful flavors. We also had the Kanab Pa, sea bass baked in a banana leaf in a coconut cream sauce and with grilled vegetable skewers on the side. The sea bass was cooked perfectly and the sauce took it to a whole other level. The house sauvignon blanc was serviceable for the whole meal. For dessert we had sweet purple sticky rice with a coconut custard and fresh mango. It was very tasty but we wished for more custard and mango. Leigh Ann (sp.?), our waitress, could not have been more attentive or charming; she really enhanced our whole dining experience. With the bill, a manager brought us complimentary short glasses of various fruit juices with seltzer - something to refresh the palate, he said. That was a lovely gesture and it was a delicious concoction. I am only sorry we don't live in Raleigh and so cannot dine there more often!
Our server was so personable and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was absolutely delicious! We started with the lettuce wraps (best we’ve ever had!). I had the herb salad and would have it again in a heartbeat. My husband had the crepe which he liked a lot, but would probably try something else next time.
Everything was perfectly as advertised and delicious. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of the wonderful waitress who attended us as she was unobtrusive while being the paradox of perfect attentiveness. Food came promptly and deserves the reputation, and the space was gorgeous. Our online reservation was respected/matched almost to the minute, if not provided even earlier than we'd asked. Guess there's a reason Bida Manda is an institution. No way I won't be back and bringing friends.
Very good service, food was great!
My overall experience was great for both food and service. However, I did agree with my friends that the appetizers are overpriced.
While they attempted for a quite ambience it was unusually loud. I would visit again and see how the noise level is
A wonderful fusion of Laos and Thai flavors, Bada Manda does not disappoint. Several visits and the quality is consistent and tantalizing flavors are in every dish.
Food average. Service and ambience excellent!
Have heard about this place for awhile. First visit. Food was great. Reminded me of my Thai-Laos grandmother. Thanks !
We had a fantastic time! The food, the drinks and or waitress was just perfect.
Amazing food, very good service and I'd definitely return!
Fantastic atmosphere and the absolute best, and I mean BEST, wait staff. Everyone is so friendly and knowledgable about the menu - regardless of your taste and dietary restrictions, you'll find something delicious. Lettuce wraps and chicken curry was on point! My girlfriend had the pumpkin curry and it was OK - a little too sweet or our taste. We both had two drinks on-top of an appetizer + entrees. We had plenty of leftovers and the bill was sub $100... so not too expensive for a great experience
Oh and they also brought out an unexpected desert with candles - we were celebrating my girlfriend's completion of med school. I would recommend and will be back.
Very good service. How you treat people matters. Thank you kindly.
Always great food at Bida Manda. It more than deserves its reputation as one of Raleigh's best restaurants. You really can't go wrong here!
This was the our first date night away from our kids in awhile, and it was the perfect choice! The service was outstanding the food was the same! We will definitely returning!
Appetizers were excellent
We had a chicken dish and veggie tofu main course
They were very well cooked
Only problem was just too much salt
Great service. Our server recommended a bunch of popular dishes that did not disappoint!
This was my second visit. The first time, I ordered a very popular dish and wasn’t impressed (pork belly soup). I decided to give it a try again, thinking last time just have been an off day or I just ordered the wrong thing. Once again, I wasn’t impressed. Although the food is decent, I don’t think the restaurant is worth the hype nor the prices. I really wanted to like Bida Manda, it just didn’t live up. I enjoy Laotian food very much, so it’s not the type of food. It’s just that their dishes are mediocre at best. In addition, I have a food allergy. Even though I was assured that they have a special part of the kitchen for making my food to avoid cross-contamination, I was sick immediately. I didn’t even leave the restaurant before the reaction set in. It’s just too bad. I’m not normally a tough critic.
We had an absolutely wonderful dinner; my wife got the chicken curry and I had the pork belly soup. Both were excellent — the drinks we had were superb, and were in the Foundation/C. Grace tier of quality.
We had reservations, which I also think are a must on weekends for dinner.
We went here for my boyfriend’s birthday and it was absolutely wonderful. We shared each plate so we could try multiple menu items, and I was completely blown away by the exceptional food and service. We started with the Papaya Salad with Duck. It came with sticky rice, which was confusing, but our server encouraged us to use our hands and use it almost as a utensil to absorb the flavors in the dish.
We also tried the basil seafood curry special which was unbelievable. We finished our marathon dinner with the chili basil lime glazed salmon.
Honestly the service was amazing. Our server was patient with us as we ordered half the menu, and reset our place set after each dish.
This is more than a restaurant. It’s an experience! I highly recommend it
I had been so looking forward to eating here. Honestly, I don’t know why everyone raves about this place. The atmosphere was just OK, nothing special. The metal chairs were so uncomfortable. The food was good, but not great. I had beef and broccoli, but I’ve had take out that just as good. The service was average with a long wait for another glass of wine. Overall, our dining experience was disappointing.
Bida Manda is a beautiful experience. We were warmly welcomed and chose to sit at the bar, our favorite place to see everything happening. Our server, Angie (I hope this is correct) was incredibly kind and attentive. Our food was exquisite. So much so, I wanted to cry it tasted so good. We want all our friends to come back with us and try everything on the menu. The space is inviting, uplifting, and quiet enough to converse. Thank you for completley making our day. Our warmest wishes to the entire staff and especially our server.
