Bice - Naples Ratings and Reviews
Well I read the reviews and I all i can say is that I couldn't agree more, there are far too many incredible restaurants in Naples. Do yourself a favor. Learn from our experiences and go somewhere else.. Yes, the happy hour menu is incredibly cheap (not inexpensive -- cheap!) and I say that because the wait staff only wants to talk about the fact that all entrees are 1/2 price before 5pm. Seriously, we're here for the food but to you, it's all about the price. I ordered wine only to be told what I ordered isn't part of the happy hour deal. Yes, I know. I want the wine that I want. I then order my dinner but ask for linguine instead of pappardelle. Nope. No substitutions. So I say, fine. Charge me full price. And I get attitude. My husband is now upset and talks to the manager who tries to explain why.... nope. Pasta is pasta. Seriously, more attitude?! So his entree comes and was so salty, he couldn't enjoy it. We paid the bill and headed to cafe Milano where we were treated with respect and the dessert was incredible. Wish we had listened to the other reviews and skipped this place. I am quite sure they need to offer 1/2 price entrees to make up for the poor service. Good riddance, Bice. Never again. Wish we didn't waste a night in Naples on this place.
I booked three weeks ahead for a table of five. We were put in the middle back of the restaurant that was extremely noisy. We could not talk to one another. There was no availability to sit outside.!!!! The tables around us who arrived later were served before us. The food, honestly, was inedible. The clams were bad the mussels were bad the pasta inedible and the gluten free dishes we ordered made our two celiacs very ill. One person was immediately ill. It took forever to get the bill. Overall. Horrible experience. Too bad. Used to be much better. Been many times before. Will not go back again.
Very disappointed with the lasagna, and eggplant parmesan served at this restraint when compared against Bravos, and the previous Bice location at Coconut Mall! We were very happy with the Bice location at Coconut Mall, and sad to see it close. Although we were disappointed with our order, I am sure there were other items on their menu which may have been very good! Lesson learned! We found out at that the Coconut Mall location was a different company, and not the same as the Naples location.
I requested outdoor dining when I made the reservation and when it was confirmed. When we arrived the host quickly dismissed the request and said we have to sit inside. He was not very pleasant and was very dismissive of our request. Inside was so crowded and noisy we couldn’t even have a conversation. Wait staff and food are excellent but my guests were less than impressed by the noise level. Plenty of al fresco dining on 5th so need to return if not treated better.
Four of us dined, and three were delighted with their pasta dishes. The other (who had beef tenderloin) was most disappointed: no where near the “8 ounces” as advised by the waiter and significantly laced with fat (really a filet??). Service was strikingly professional and proper, though. Nice touch: Martinis were shaken and poured at table.
It was Valentine’s Day, so it was probably busier and noisier than usual, but I found the restaurant crowded and the ambience lacking. Our server, too, was less than attentive at times. The food is excellent, though, if pricey, and we might go back again on a quieter night.
One of our party of 4 inquired about a pasta dish which had speck in it. She does not eat pork asked if chicken could be substituted. At first the waiter said yes, but after thinking about it for a moment or two, added that there would be an upcharge. We do not think that chicken is more costly to warrant a $4 up charge when eliminating the ham for it
We would have given another star except for that
What a truly wonderful experience. We brought my Dad to Bicé for his birthday. We decided to go early to get drinks before dinner but the bar was full. The maitre di saw us, I told him we had a reservation but came early and immediately he sat us. Our waiter, Phillipe, was so kind, personable and attentive. He made our evening special as if we were family from drinks to desserts!! And what can I say about the food. Each morsel of food was better than the next. Thank you Bicé and Phillipe. We will be back when visiting in Naples.
Unhappy with small table and closeness to other guests. Had to move plates and glasses as each course arrived due to space constraints. Waiter was very attentive and offered assistance at each request. My husband's lasagna, his favorite, was delicious and I would recommend it.
I haven't been to Bice in years and I'm so glad we went back! I don't remember the food being as delicious as it was this time. There were 4 of us in our party and we all enjoyed our food and drinks. Food was very flavorful. And wait staff were charming and gave Bice that authentic Italian vibe.
I was told when we booked our reservation that outside seating was first come first serve. When we arrived for our reservation, there was plenty of outside seating available for our party but was told anyway that we would have to wait if that was our preference. I thought the maître de was rude. In stead we got a table in a heavy traffic area and it was very loud. The service was good and the food excellent. However, I was disappointed that we were not seated outside per our request after following the restaurant rules.
After a slight mix-up with the wait staff, our experience was great. The outside seating was available so we chose that. The calamari appetizer was great. We probably could have gotten that and a salad for the meal. I had the gnocchi, but asked for tomato sauce instead of the normal. This was the best gnocchi I've ever had aside from my mother's. We will be going back for sure.
As other reviews have noted... the food is average and prices are high. Every entry our party was served lacked flavor and even the basics of proper seasoning. The service was also just average. The bright spot is the location and ambiance, well decorated and a nice outdoor area.
