We had heard how fantastic Bibou is but experiencing it was a different thing. Each course eas better than the last, the service impeccable and we had a wonderful chat with the chef at the conclusion of our meal. I can't wait to go back.
What a special place Bibou continues to be. Thanks to Chef Pierre, Jeffrey and the team for another spectacular evening!
As always, excellent food and creative menu, excellent and friendly staff, did I mention how good the food was (?), in a comfortable relaxed small dining room.
And as always, Pierre was our gracious chef.
Another amazing meal. The tasting menu is one of the best in the city.
Our last trip to Bibou was before the renovations. The re-do was modest and I don't think it did much to improve the "cramped" feel of the place. Bibou is an honest, simple, down-to-earth place for French food in Philly but there were issues. Most important was that the food tasted and felt tired and too old hat. Who really serves a terrine of aubergine and red peppers any more? The cold mussel and curry soup was interesting but the temperature left an off taste to the mussel pieces that were in the soup. The best course was the fish (sea bass I think) that was cooked to perfection and as fresh as can be. We were offered shavings of black truffle with the squab course but there was no scent at all of the truffle on the glass-covered plate of them, so we declined. Finally the pistachio souffle was fair but nothing luscious or ethereal here, as souffles should be. The restaurant was fair, well meaning and good for value. But I believe it would be more honest as an a la carte place, serve what it's good at (like the escargot which was not in the tasting any longer), and do away with the tastings.
One of the best places to eat in Philly. Set menu was spot on with impeccable service and attention to detail.
A perfect and delicious venue for a special occasion.
Excellent, top notch cuisine. The highest quality dining in Philadelphia.
It was such a pleasure dining at Bibou again. From the owner/chef, Pierre, to the manager, Jeffrey, and the wait staff, Delroy and Eli, everyone make each dinner quite the experience; every night at Bibou is a special one...you feel like you're celebrating even if it's just another Wednesday night. The food is always beyond delicious and is beautifully presented, and the wait staff is knowledgable and very attentive. The intimate setting is also a nice change; you know they are making a quality meal when they are cooking for a small group. The menu had a lot of variety yet flowed; the foie gras did not disappoint, and the lamb and halibut were cooked to perfection. The souffle (as always) is also top-notch! The added truffles to a few of the courses were also a nice touch. Cannot wait to come back!
If I only had one meal left on earth, I'd have dinner at Bibou. It is always outstanding in every way, from service to the always exquisite tasting menu (where you will not leave hungry). We save our best wines for this BYOB. And we always leave asking ourselves how soon we can get back. The dining room is always full of regulars that also realize it is quite simply the best restaurant in Philadelphia.
Fantastic restaurant! We went twice and are now addicted to the talent of Pierre, the great chef and owner. The food is unique, the service is outstanding, and the price is reasonable.
Amazing. All around.
Bibou is a real gem. The food is seasonal, creative and beautiful. It really is one of the best restaurants Philadelphia has to offer.
Outstanding food and service. For over 2 hours I meticulously enjoyed every bite of food and sip of wine. One of the finest meals I've enjoyed. Everything was delicious, but my favorite dishes were the foie gras and chilled corn soup with pepper jam.
We have eaten at many of the highly rated restaurants in the city and Bibou ranks right at the top. The tasting menu was superb, with the highlights being the signature foie gras and rabbit dishes. That said, everything else was top-notch -- the setting, the other courses and the service, which was friendly and very knowledgeable. Put Bibou on your list of "musts" on the Philadelphia restaurant landscape -- you will not be disappointed. Our meal -- a very nice date night treat -- dazzled. The chef and the staff made us feel special.
