About Bibiana

As a native Italian, Navone’s passion for the culinary arts and Italian cuisine started at a young age. Growing up in both Switzerland and Italy, he would assist with his mother and grandmother in the kitchen creating dishes for the family. Navone returned to the USA in 2006, to join Casa Tua in Miami where he was appointed sous chef. He went on to establish himself as a prominent chef in Miami holding positions at popular Italian restaurants such as IL BOLOGNESE on Lincoln Road/Ocean Drive, and the Dolce Italian at the Gale Hotel, which was chosen as winner of BRAVO’S Best New Restaurant under his leadership. Bibiana is delighted to welcome Chaf Navone to Washington, DC.

My son and I both ordered the pasta bolognese which was about $25. When they brought it to us we were speechless. Seriously like 20 noodles!!! We had to ask for more bread as we were still hungry. On the way out I complained and was told the pasta was supposed to be a starter dish like in Italy. I told him$25 for pasta is not a starter dish and if it was not entree sized we should have been told. The funny thing is they offer half servings of pasta dishes. It would have been microscopic!

This was a first for us in DC traveling from Europe and I'm glad we took the concierge's suggestion to try Bibiana. We were concerned that it might be a typical Italian -American restaurant where we would be served a so much food. The portions are perfect. And the menu truly authentic.

We had such a great time and we will definitely return! My husband can't stop raving about the braised shortribs.

We’ve been to Bibiana a few times before and love their regular menu. Hoping to have the option of selecting off of their regular menu, we were told we could only select from the Valentine’s menu, which was a bit disappointing. Originally I was going to cancel my reservation due to illness, but they were going to charge me for canceling or no show, which is another disappointment. Will probably go back when there’s no special menu as we do enjoy their regular menu.

I've been to Italy many times and Bibiana certainly provides the same feel of the restaurants that I've been to in Milan. I really appreciate the manner in which the menu is designed wherein I could try a lot of different items. I will definitely return!

Nice, sleek setting and very good service. A bit disappointed in the execution of the cooking. The seafood stew (mostly clams and mussells with a dried out scallop) had a very tasty sauce but the ingredients were not first rate and was slightly overcooked. Portion size was lacking. The Branzino was also slightly overcooked, but passable. The pastas tended to be better and the meatball appetizer on soft polenta was the highlight. Overall, the meal was OK, but there are better options for Italian cuisine.

Very good overall. Went for birthday and food was very good. Ambiance was special. The host was especially great and went out of his way to make the evening special. The waiter was professional in a very good way and did a wonderful job. Would highly recommend as upscale Italian (portions small, but very good).

Our server was knowledge and recommended good plates. He did push a second bottle of wine that I am not sure we wanted but we ordered. Food was inconsistent. Some was very good, some not so good. Wine list was extensive but overpriced. Pasta was solid but not as good as Fiola mare, Filomena, Fiola or tail up goat.

Refreshed menu was delicious. Tried four appetizers and two pasta entrees. Service was well-paced with food coming to the table in perfect timing. Great service and dining experience. Had not been there in a few years so have added it back to my list of "must go" restaurants.

The octopus appetizer is absolutely fabulous, perhaps the best we ever had. One fried calamari appetizer had to be sent back - overcooked and dried out plus the calamari was rubbery. No problem at all to get an alternate appetizer. Branzino was divine and perfectly prepared. The short ribs were good but overcooked and both the ribs plus the polenta and spinach accompanying it were way over salted. The wine recommendations were perfect!. Dessert was luscious. Service a delight!

Lovely! The tuna tartare and octopus were a delicious start. The waiter's wine recommendation was spot on. I had the Chitarra and my friend had the swordfish, both were excellent and the portion size was perfect.

FOOD WAS GOOD, BUT SERVICE WAS VERY VERY SLOW. COMPUTERS WERE DOWN AND THEY HAD TO WRITE THE CHECK BY HAND AND PROCESS THE CHARGE THE OLD FASHIONED WAY. SOME OF THE PORTIONS ON THE RESTAURANT WEEK MENU WERE VERY VERY SMALL AND SOMEWHAT EMBARASSING, AS WE WERE TAKING GUESTS AND ONE OF THEM CHOSE THE RESTAURANT WEEK MENU.

This restaurant has been around forever and I was glad to find that it has kept up with the neighborhood. Main courses were very good. My fish was well cooked and garnished. A little too salty but a matter of taste, not bad cooking. My guest had gnocchi that he liked. The bread was served warm and was delicious - often an overlooked touch. Service was good but a little too scarce - our mains took much longer than the few tables around us. Ambiance is simple and elegant. A good, quiet place for a business lunch.

I was first skeptical to make a reservation for restaurant week here at Bibiana with my friends. I'm glad I didn't let the other reviews dissuade me. We all had a terrific time and the value for what was offered in the menu was outstanding. We even shared a few items from the ala carte menu as it was just too tempting. Overall great experience. I definitely recommend BIbiana!

Arrived for a restaurant week evening meal. I had a mozzarella appetizer and my daughter had butternut squash mix(?). My mozzarella was slightly thick, maybe too much cheese but still good. The butternut squash appetizer was good but needed more pizazz. We had the eggplant croquette and the monk fish for the entree. The eggplant was very good. The fish was kind of tasteless. The sides with the fish were also kind of tasteless. The desserts were good. My only big complaint would be the waiter who was helpful was always observing the dining room by standing right next to me. We were seated as close to the kitchen door as possible. Overall It was good but not great.

Truly enjoyed our experience. It is a beautiful restaurant with outstanding service and wonderfully prepared food. The grilled octopus appetizer was sensational. My Branzino wsa only warm when it was served, but it was rectified in plenty of time for both my husband and I to eat together. I appreciate that the new dish was prepared with a different piece of fish so as suffer from re-heating.

My mom and I went to Bibiana for restaurant week. We used to like it but hadn't been for years for whatever reason. I read that there was a new chef and wanted to check it out again. The restaurant week menu was great. I had the sformatino app and my mom had the mozzarella. Both were delicious - my mom really appreciated the pappa al pomodoro base to the house-made mozzarella. I had the tagliolini with cacio and pepe. Loved them. I also tasted my mom's monkfish - again delicious. We're definitely going again to check out the regular menu.

Was here for restaurant week. Mozzarella starter was delicious, but the gnocchi main was very disappointing. First of all the portion was smaller than my starter and it was literally gone in 3 mouthfuls. It also was not hot. The tiramisu dessert was nice but nothing out of the ordinary. Not worth $35 at all. But the wine was delicious, but pricey.

I'm giving this restaurant the benefit of the doubt, since I had heard good things before. If you're going to do restaurant week, you need to do it properly, otherwise it's just bad publicity.

I know it's normal to reheat food, but it shouldn't be that obvious to the person who's eating the meal. My first course felt dry, specially the beans. The flavor was good. Both the other first course and the desserts were good.

However, the main course was terrible for my boyfriend and I. My pasta cacio e pepe was overflown with butter and didn't taste like cheese or pepper at all. It's like the person cooking it hadn't tasted cacio e pepe ever. My boyfriend's gnocchi were ok in texture, but the bolognese was incredibly salty, it tasted really bad. I probably won't be coming back even though I've heard good things, because this meal was really bad. The worst italian food I've had in DC so far.

I had a reservation for myself for Restaurant Week. I was graciously greeted and served and never made to feel uncomfortable for being a lone person. The food was delicious, and the service was not rushed. A beautiful dining room, good lighting, moderate noise level all made for a very nice experience.

Service was terribly slow, restaurant was unbearably noisy. Food was fair, very expensive and a poor value. My wife was misinformed by the server about the carafe of wine she ordered and ended up spending way too much. We do not recommend this restaurant

I've been to Bibiana before for Restaurant Week but I have to say that they have certainly stepped up their game. The place looked fresh and energetic! Not as dark and gloomy as before. The options for Restaurant Week were great and having the option of the Ala Carte Menu was also nice. Our server was very attentive and made sure we didn't have to ask for anything. Overall Great experience! We will be back!

Went for lunch during Restaurant Week. Our late lunch reservation was a mistake as some of the dishes had clearly passed their prime. In particular the minestrone was thick although the flavor was good. The monkfish was very dry. A plus was the squash “pudding “ appetizer which had lots of good flavor. Desserts were acceptable. While I recognize that RW is not the best time to tast e the best dishes, they could have tried harder.

Food was amazing! We enjoyed a creamy, savory appetizer (sorry, something in Italian), eggplant parmagiana, and a refreshing panna cotta. Everything came out perfectly and left us wishing for more. The service was attentive but not intrusive. We were in a side room (which was fine), but the main dining room looks quite stylish (a nice date venue). Really only positive things to say. Run, don't walk, to Bibiana.
