Bibiana Ratings and Reviews
I'm a regular here, which, given the superb food, service, and wine list isn't a surprise. Bibiana is easily the best Italian restaurant in the Metro Center area, as wise a choice for a meal with a business colleague or two as with a new or steady date. The three size selections for many unique wines are another reason to dine here, as is the wonderful focaccia.
Rather late commenting on this meal we shared with out-of-town family members with discerning palates. We chose Bibiana to show off DC to them and we were not disappointed -- everything was perfect. With each visit, the food just keeps getting better and better -- more subtle and better control of flavor combinations -- creative without straying far from an Italian palate. They handled the opening and decanting of a 22-year-old Brunello with a decaying cork very expertly. Superb, attentive, but discreet service throughout the three-hour meal. Just a completely satisfying dining experience.
John French is a master Sommelia and the wine list is outstanding. The Borrollo was exquisite and the pairing with the short rib that fell off the fork was outstanding. The Brussels sprouts could have been a great meal all by themselves, and the pairing of chili spice and sweet was very unique. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the D.C. Area.
Food was decent. Less than ideal service. Had to ask multiple times for bread. The wine was delivered after we finished the meal. We were offered a free desert for the late wine delivery. Portions were small and overpriced. Return to DC a few times a year, this place won't be on our radar in the future.
Went to Bibiana for Mother's Day dinner in the evening. They offered the full menu rather than is special one. We splurged and had the full softshell crab dish to start followed by the venison osso bucco. Both dishes were outstanding. The recommended wine with very well with both dishes. Service was prompt and attentive, but not overbearing. Bibiana is our favorite Italian-style restaurant. Very creative dishes. Good value for the portions served.
We went for my Wife's birthday. We were very impressed by the atmosphere, the food, the amazing wine and desert list, and the overall attitude of the employees and servers. I felt like royalty. They have a menu that is worth exploring.
We had an exceptional experience at Bibiana.
For my appetizer, I had the octopus which was accompanied by a bit of n'duja. The latter is not a common offering, is spicy, goes a long way and was something I had not thought of pairing with the octopus. Kudos to the creative chef who thought of that one. My wife enjoyed her burrata , as well.
All of the pastas are homemade, save for the gluten free offering. You can order half portions; and my wife and I ordered four which were all delicious. My vongole had three large clams, a welcomed change for the miniscule ones often served with this dish. The pasta was not swimming in olive oil as it often is, making this version a bit different, but most pleasing.
The restaurant's manager came over to make sure we enjoyed our meal and stayed to talk about food for a while.
We do not reside in DC; but will not miss this restaurant on our next trip.
Ribollita was great, if a bit salty. I had the pasta duo...bolognese was amazing, lobster pasta was so-so. Tiramisu was creative and yummy interpretation. I was there on a Wednesday and service was almost too attentive but great nonetheless. Maitre 'd was very welcoming.
Excellent food, imaginative riffs on classic ideas bringing the dishes to high modern standards. Salads are especially marvelous. Super service, a wonderful list of Italian wine. A special feature is the annotated amaro menu, the best explanation of a huge variety that I have ever seen.
Nice variety of Italian dishes, including a range of vegetarian options. Seasonal menu. Whole table loved their entrees. Noise level reasonable, but was a Monday night so not too crowded. A couple of menu items unavailable which was slight disappointment.
The food and service were at the high level I expect from Bibiana. The ribollita was excellent, perfectly seasoned, and was practically a meal in itself. The venison osso bucco was rich and lean, accompanied by herbed lentils. Our server was attentive without being overbearing. He helped to make a lovely dinner even better.
Good location and options for indoor or outdoor dining. Menu was meat heavy with few vegetarian options. Food was very good and portions were reasonably sized. Service was very good but we were asked about the food and our disposition too many times. Overall, this restaurant is a good choice for fine dining Italian.
Bibiana continues to be my favorite creative Italian restaurant in DC -- year after year (and I've been enjoying it more more than 6 years now) its pastas beat everyone else's. Fresh, unique, creative, and super yummy. Everywhere else just doesn't matter.
What a wonderful restaurant and close to hotels. European sized portions. So you will want to order multiple courses. Since almost everything is so good it's a gastronomic adventure. The Chocolate cake was not on par with other courses.
