Service was impeccable. Carapacio was excellent. Frito Misto suitably crisp, not greasy and not overcooked, e.g., good fried seafood, not unique. Tagliatelle had good overall flavor but individual tagliatelle were kind of small (compared to that of both my grandmothers and what I've had in Italy) and pasta was not the most delicate I've had in DC, the combination resulting in less than a satisfying mouthful of filling. Coniglio was disappointing; overall flavor was good but meat was too dry and about a third of it had very tough connective tissue running through it. We'll try again. Maybe stick to Sietsma's January picks.
My son and I both ordered the pasta bolognese which was about $25. When they brought it to us we were speechless. Seriously like 20 noodles!!! We had to ask for more bread as we were still hungry. On the way out I complained and was told the pasta was supposed to be a starter dish like in Italy. I told him$25 for pasta is not a starter dish and if it was not entree sized we should have been told. The funny thing is they offer half servings of pasta dishes. It would have been microscopic!
This was a first for us in DC traveling from Europe and I'm glad we took the concierge's suggestion to try Bibiana. We were concerned that it might be a typical Italian -American restaurant where we would be served a so much food. The portions are perfect. And the menu truly authentic.
We had such a great time and we will definitely return! My husband can't stop raving about the braised shortribs.
We’ve been to Bibiana a few times before and love their regular menu. Hoping to have the option of selecting off of their regular menu, we were told we could only select from the Valentine’s menu, which was a bit disappointing. Originally I was going to cancel my reservation due to illness, but they were going to charge me for canceling or no show, which is another disappointment. Will probably go back when there’s no special menu as we do enjoy their regular menu.
I've been to Italy many times and Bibiana certainly provides the same feel of the restaurants that I've been to in Milan. I really appreciate the manner in which the menu is designed wherein I could try a lot of different items. I will definitely return!
Nice, sleek setting and very good service. A bit disappointed in the execution of the cooking. The seafood stew (mostly clams and mussells with a dried out scallop) had a very tasty sauce but the ingredients were not first rate and was slightly overcooked. Portion size was lacking. The Branzino was also slightly overcooked, but passable. The pastas tended to be better and the meatball appetizer on soft polenta was the highlight. Overall, the meal was OK, but there are better options for Italian cuisine.
Very good overall. Went for birthday and food was very good. Ambiance was special. The host was especially great and went out of his way to make the evening special. The waiter was professional in a very good way and did a wonderful job. Would highly recommend as upscale Italian (portions small, but very good).
New chef who is very creative. amal, great service and ambience, good wine and cocktails.
Our server was knowledge and recommended good plates. He did push a second bottle of wine that I am not sure we wanted but we ordered. Food was inconsistent. Some was very good, some not so good. Wine list was extensive but overpriced. Pasta was solid but not as good as Fiola mare, Filomena, Fiola or tail up goat.
