Bibiana Ratings and Reviews
Our server was great (although I can’t remember her name to save my life). She kept checking on us and ensuring we were enjoying our meal and our glasses were full. The tuna appetizer was delicious and thoroughly enjoyed my file and the branzino that was ordered. We were told that the chef was new and the place just went through renovations. Good job to both.
The ambiance in the bar and the private dining area for our large group were really the highlight of our evening. The desserts and cappuccino were excellent. The main courses were a disappointment. I had the tagliatelle dish and the pasta noodles were a bit too al dente and overall the dish had very little flavor . Most telling of all , no one in our group commented on the food they had ordered - very polite as it was my birthday - this was a group of real food lovers. We spent time gushing over the atmosphere and the desserts. For the prices and the lovely atmosphere there really should be a reboot of the main dishes .
Fabulous all the way around, food, service and atmosphere! My wife and I took waiter’s suggestions and each ordered an appetizer and an entree, and the kitchen gladly split all plates so it was like a four course meals. Also shared desert and followed with cappachino. Superior service throughout!
My fiance is a Christmas baby, and I took him to Bibiana to celebrate with their Christmas Eve Dinner. It was a 6-course "Feast of Seven Fishes" style dinner. Each course was absolutely delicious and inventive. I will definitely try their standard dinner in the future.
I am not from DC but travel there every week. I look for places to dine with fellow travelers or my client pretty regularly and my first choice has become Bibiana. Service is exceptional and food is very good (interesting and different than what you might expect). The wine list is all Italian so my typical go-to California wines aren't on the list but the sommelier does a good job suggesting wines that are comparable. Never disappointed.
Went early on a Saturday..so had a server to ourselves. He explained all the cheeses and meats on the antipasta menu...which helped us make very tasty choices. My husband had the wild boar main course and raved about it even when we got home. My lobster pasta was excellent..included a tail in a half shell. A great experience overall.
The food (Linguine alle Vongole; Polipo - Pan-Seared Octopus) was of very good quality but a bit too salty. Service was very good but the automatic inclusion of a 20% service charge in the bill upset me.
Upon inquiry, I was told by the staff that this was the norm in Washington DC and I agreed to pay it. But this occurred in no other restaurant. So, I will not ever go to this restaurant again. I believe that 15% for service is adequate.
Reservations a must the location gets busy as the night progresses. Food service and beverages excellent. Pasta dishes all fresh from scratch [for real] . A mix of customers, business, locals, tourists. You may want to dress up and make it a date night. I wish I had worn a blazer many patrons were not dressed as casual as we were.
I've been to Bibiana many times for business but finally brought the wife for our anniversary. So glad I did. Host and server took GREAT care of us. Lot's of special attention and consideration of our anniversary. I asked for a booth or quiet table in my reservation, and they had both waiting for me to choose from. Love the service! Server was exceptionally attentive, but never invasive. Food was good. The lardo on the misti plate was disappointing. I always order that, but this time is was warm and greasy. Rest was great. Stone crab claws...several bites had pieces of shell. Risotto, kind of boring. Expected it to be richer. Beet salad and Sicilian meatballs were great. Wines by the glass we very good, but the reds are being stored too cold. The cab/merlot blen was very cold. Excellent nebbiolo. Passito is hard to find, thoroughly enjoyed. And the grapefruit cello...what a treat! Great tiramisu as well. Oh, and they brought over another dessert unexpectedly as a anniversary special. Looked like a cupcake but was rich and moist like tres leches . Whatever it was, it was AWESOME. We will definitely be back!
Homemade pasta ribbons were a little stiff. Bring Italian and making our own pasta it could stand to be a little lighter.
Lobster was terrible. Couldn’t even cut it with a knife it was so rubbery.
Cinnamon gelato was heavenly.
Setting/ ambience/ atmosphere were all great.
Portions are big; half portions available for many entrees - good. Restaurant temperature was cold - bring a wrap/jacket. Al dente pasta was underdone - Al must have sharp teeth. Excellent waitress Cici - seemed to have too many tables to cover.
Anyway 4 stars; would go back.
Having been here before, we were VERY disappointed. We have raved about it being our favorite Italian restaurant - but this time it was not as good. While the past is fresh - we asked for al dente. It was not al dente. We asked for the soup to be "hot" - we had to send it back - it was not hot.
The service was perfect - except for the instructions to the server were not carried out by the kitchen.
Wonderful authentic Italian specialties at every level. Took me back to the last time we were in Italy a year ago. Space is full of hard surfaces so it was a little noisy especially as the wine pouring increased. Would still highly recommend, just a heads up.
