Biagio Ristorante and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Food was pretty good, service was lacking for the most part
Our food was fine for the most part but our server was just lousy. He was nice and that was fine but would forget to bring things he asked if we wanted to our table (cheese, pepper, checking in to see how everything was and if we needed anything) or standing over at the bar with coworkers or at a table (I guess he knew the family that came in) , rather than get what we ordered. It sounds small but we ordered desert and coffee and be coffee came way before desert. Small thing but the small things add up. Also would have looked nicer if all servers and staff matched, some were more dressed up than others so it was a bit odd (but not a huge issue just an observation)
The food was not that great. The waiter was not to pleasant. Overall, one of the owners saw us leaving and ignored us. Horrible spot for New Years Eve dinner. The waiter came to our table and said did you want desert? Everyone else he gave a menu to without hesitation. I will never go here again.
We had been here once for a Christmas party and thought the food and ambience were wonderful. This time when we came with another couple, while the service was excellent and the ambience was aesthetically pleasing, it was quite cold in the restaurant even though we were not sitting by an outside wall. The food was mediocre, with very little taste.
The service was a bit off due to a couple of large parties in the restaurant that evening, but the food was hit or miss. We started with the arancini which were actually quite good. The chicken parm however was not. The chicken had a very "off" texture, as if it were frozen more than once- almost rubbery. The pasta was chewy but not in a good way. I don't think I'd try Biagio again.
We arrived and were seated promptly, although we did have to stand table side and wait for it to be set. We selected a 2009 Brunello and the brought a 2011 from the same winery. It was good but I really like the 2009. The appetizers took a bit long but were very good. We had the eggplant and the calamari. For mains I had selected the chefs special veal roulade. It was raw in the center and the prosciutto still room temp with the provolone cheese as cut, not melted. The pasta dish my significant other selected was very good. We had dessert, paid the bill tipped well. But will not return.
Service was a little over the top cheerful to the point of very annoying. The got my cocktail order wrong and sent my wine to a different table. once we received the food it was excellent. I was surprised by the people that would go out to dine on a Friday night in dirty jeans and T-shirt. If you ignore the other patrons, and the wait staff it is very good.
We had not been here in a while, and were celebrating someone having a birthday in our party.
The menu was not anything other than ordinary, and I thought the pricing was high, especially for the entrees. The service was just "okay." We ate early so the restaurant was not very crowded, but it seemed like it took a while for our drinks to show up. They did nothing special for the birthday person either, even when I had noted this on the Open Table reservation. The waiter who checked us in (I don't think he even read the OT reservation), was also our waiter for the evening, so.....Honestly, I don't think the menu or the service at Biaggio's warrant the high prices. I wouldn't rush to go back, especially when there are a plethora of very good restaurants in Waltham. The ambiance is nice, and that is about where it ends.
We were in town for one night. Looked on Open Table to check out local restaurants, we picked this place. I was not disappointed in any way. Very comfortable, food was excellent! Service was outstanding! If I'm ever in the area again will definitely stop in.
I can't recommend the service provided by the staff enough. Above and beyond expectations and this doesn't occur often. Very relaxed meal. We didn't feel like they were rushing us to get the next customers in. We had special handmade pasta fish dishes. We would have liked a little more garlic but that's a small nit.
Everything was wonderful. A slow night mid week. Windows were open which was nice for the air but the outside noise was often so loud we couldn't carry on a conversation. That was the only negative of the entire evening! Would definitely go back frequently if I lived closer!
We had a beautiful rooftop table, great view. Unfortunately our party of 5 waited interminably for our meal...they must have lost our order and after an hour of not even getting our apps, all we'd had was drinks and bread, they were very sorry and apologetic, but it took at least another 30 min for 2 apps to show, then another 20 or 30 min for the entrees to arrive. I'd lost my appetite, I just wanted to leave. They gave us a VIP card and offered free desserts (we declined, we had been there for 2 hours already mostly waiting). We really appreciated that they made sure to let us know how sorry they were and we were really nice about it. It just kind of blew the night.
My meal was MEMORABLE to say the least. The risotto was amazing and I would definitely eat here again. Mark our waiter so great - checked on us just enough but not overwhelming. Good wine selection and quiet ambiance. Windows to street were open so we felt "outside" without being in heat. Will definitely return.
Service was truly excellent as was most of the meal. Only sad note was the caprese salad. Presented as a horizontally sliced and reassembled tomato meant the only the top layer had any basil. Far more important, the tomato was unripe and mealy. Everything else was delicious.
This was our first time here and it was worth the trip. The food and service were very good and plentiful. I would recommend going here for a special occasion. My only complaint was that the waiter did not check us in when we arrived and it took 2 days to get my points. It was not busy when we arrived and even though we told the waiter twice we had a reservation, he did not follow through
