Biagio Ristorante and Bar Ratings and Reviews
This was our third trip to Biagio and we will not return. We saw our first waiter after twenty minutes of waiting and we never saw him again. Someone else took over . We waited forever for our wine, appetizers and meal. Apparently our first waiter was new. Our second waiter was on her first night and explained that another waiter had walked out. It was chaotic and unpleasant. The food was cold. They were obviously having a very bad night. Management was nowhere to be seen. At the very least, someone should have stopped by the tables to check-in. As I stated, all in our party of four agreed that we would not return.
Came to this restaurant as it was the only place on Open Table that could accommodate our party of 9 on a Saturday night. We arrived late, and the person who greeted us was none to happy that we were late. This was my fault as I thought our reservation was at 7:00 but I must have made it for 6:30. I'll take the blame for that, but could have done without his attitude. Found us a table fairly quickly as the restaurant was barely half full. We were greeted by a lovely waitress who took our drink orders almost immediately. It was all down hill from there. Drinks took 15-20 minutes to get to our table so we quickly polished off the water on the table. Asked our bus boy 3 times to refill our water - and got none. Drinks came and asked our waitress for more water and placed our appetizer order. Appetizers came out, still no water. At this point we were ready to order another round of drinks. Placed our dinner order, and finally got water. For those who ordered beer at our table, they were served quickly, but mixed drinks took 15 minutes or more. Our waitress was clearly overwhelmed, and let us know the bar was short staffed that evening. I think the dining room had to have been short staffed to because she was running at least five tables of very large parties. Meals came out and were totally UNDER-whelming. Not one of us came away from the meal thinking it was any better than what I could serve at home during the week. Towards the end of our meal, the dining room did fill up and it became quite noisy. Certainly will not make an effort to come back to this restaurant for the price we paid.
Our first visit to this establishment, it was a late afternoon reservation. First impressions do count.... the Host, male and I think may be owner, was not friendly and casually dressed (jeans); the attire would be okay for some establishments but didn't quite go with the vibe of the place . I also never encountered a host/hostess that didn't warmly greet a customer or thank them on their way out.
We ended up with a new server who we realized later never told us of any specials (we over heard it at a nearby table as we were leaving), didn't pace out the food as the Appetizer was served at the same time as salad, was overly anxious to clear our plates and never offered us dessert . Food was good but the overall experience could have been better.
We went to Biagio's to celebrate our daughter's birthday with her husband and 18 month old daughter. The wait staff was amazing. The food was fabulous. Our granddaughter cannot have anything with dairy in it. They made a special plate of pasta for her with sauce on the side. They are very accommodating. I would recommend this restaurant. I plan on going back.
Nice place friendly staff. Waiter was slow, order was slow. Had crab cakes which tasted like hot chiles not crab overwhelming. Had special of mixed seafood over noodles? one work TERRIBLE. Little flavor, the sauce was a watery soup. I couldn't finish it. My date had the fig and cheese ravioli, that was EXCELLENT. How two completely different dishes came out of the same kitchen just baffles the mind
I look forward to coming to Biagio's with this group of friends. We are never disappointed. This time, the specials were particularly spectacular and we all had a hard time trying to decide which one to order! Whatever we chose, we were not disappointed. All were delicious.
Excellent experience all around. We were there this past Saturday evening. Food was great (all courses, apps through dessert) and so were the drinks. Decor & Atmosphere were very nice & service was outstanding. Our server Rafael was great as he was attentive, asked how things were going with each course, wonderful manner & we weren't rushed (we were there for 2 to 2 1/2 hours). Highly recommend Biagio.
Food was delicious but unfortunately we had a horrible server. We could barely hear what she was saying (very soft spoken) on top of a thick accent (presumably English was her second language). Upon lesving restaurant host ignored us instead of the usual "thank you for coming". Because of the awful service we likely would not return.
The server was pleasant but very inexperienced and was unable to answer questions about the specials. Members of the group that had pasta dishes rated the food excellent. The salmon was very good but the potato pancake served with it was greasy. The chicken was plentiful but bland. Overall I'd say this restaurant needs to invest some time in training their staff.
This was our first visit to this restaurant. There was ample parking in back of the restaurant - a nice feature for a Moody Street location. Our server admitted this was her first day on the job and it showed. For appetizers my wife had the Calamari and my daughter had the Applewood Smoked Bacon - both very tasty. For our entrees I had the Lobster Ravioli which was disappointing, my wife had the Blackened Swordfish which was also disappointing and my daughter had the Shrimp Positano which she enjoyed. There are plenty of other options for dining on Moody Street where the food and service are better so we won't be returning.
We were seated rite away and we received our water than about a half hour later we got our salads with only oil no vinegar and when i asked again for vinegar they brought more oil so we didn't eat them and still got charged. 20 min later we got bread and could finally give our order for food . then 25 min later our food finally arrived we ate quick because we were on a sched but had to wait another 30 min for our check so later plans fell thru.
It was a very quiet Sunday evening when we went for dinner. So we sat at the bar and there was only other person there! Dining room tends to be very noisy at times so this was a good opportunity to relax in a quiet atmosphere and enjoy the wonderful food. The pollo saltimbocca is always fabulous as is the swordfish dish. Mangia!
This restaurant was horrible. Food had no taste and took a very long time to prepare. They did not have enough staff. My meal, when it arrived, looked like it had been sitting for a long time. We were a party of four and everyone hated their meal and their whole experience at this restaurant. Don't waste your time or money!
Food was very good, service was the worst service I've ever had. The waiter never acknowledged he forgot our drinks, one appetizer came out with the meal instead of with the other appetizers and then I ordered a scoop of ice cream to keep my daughter occupied while we were finishing our entrees (thinking this would be quick and easy) it came out after we paid the bill. Water was never refilled. The waiter threw down a few free app cards with our bill but never acknowledged there was any issue. From what I could tell the restaurant and/or bar wasn't super full or busy either. Dinner took over 3 hours, thankfully it was enjoyed with friends.
Our party of 8 was very disappointed when we dined for dinner on a Saturday night. We made a reservation yet were placed in the upstairs, very cold function room at a long, narrow buffet table. The service was not great as our waiter was servicing 3 large parties and serving as bartender as well. We were never offered bread. We had to ask. We had to ask for refills on drinks. Meals weren't reviewed before given to our party to make sure that any changes actually occurred. While we were eating a show was being set up with strobe lights, etc. The restaurant never advised that entertainment was being set up right near us. A lot of money was spent and very little attention to our party and table was given. Food was very good. Not sure we'll be back though.
We like this resturant as the food is great and, usually, the prices are good. I had two issues during our last visit, both related to service. The waiter offered the daily specials but didn't give the price - we ordered two of the specials and the were quite a bit more expensive, compared to their regular menu. Great dinner, but on the high end. Also, the waiter got our drink order wrong, but charged us for the drink the extra drink that we did not order. That's a bad mistake.
Found our new 'spot' in Waltham! Our son attends college in the area and we were looking for a nice dining spot when we found Biagio. Wonderful experience from beginning to end. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with exposed brick, warm Tuscan colors and high ceilings. Very relaxed, upscale feel. We were warmly greeted at the door by Anthony and escorted to our table by Rafael, a friendly and knowledgeable server. Arugula salad was delicious. I ordered the Brick Chicken...amazing! One of the best things I have eaten in a long time!! Highly recommend. My husband had the Chicken Saltimbocca, my son ordered the Chicken Alfredo w/ Fettuccine (homemade!) and my father-in-law the Linguini w/ Mussels. Everyone loved their meal, especially me! Finished the meal with some delicious espresso! Nice crowd for a Friday night. Looking forward to going back on our next trip to visit our son and trying out the outdoor patio when the weather is nicer.
Went here for Valentine's Day and even though the restaurant had some available tables and we had a reservation, the host sat us at the worst table in the restaurant right by the dirty plates and trash. The whole evening we were privy to the sounds of plates and silverware crashing, which helped to mask the country music they were playing at this "high-end" Italian restaurant. Our server was very nice and we could tell he was doing his best to try and makeup for the shortcomings of the ambiance. The icing on the cake came when our waiter was explaining the evening's specials to us. The host/manager pulled him from our table to tell a busboy which table to send a couple of plates to. If you're the host/manager, shouldn't you know where all the tables are? It seemed inappropriate to stop our waiter in the middle of explaining specials and taking our order to answer a question. Waiting a couple of minutes would not have been the end of the world. The one saving grace for this place was the food. I can't say its the best Italian food I've ever had, but it was good. Definitely would not come here for another special occasion. Maybe they're better on a regular night.
