Betts - Cleveland
"Betts" is a tribute to Elizabeth Schofield, wife of Captain Levi Schofield and our namesake. The space is cozy yet airy and feels like a mix between a restaurant and a very cool home that you’d happily want to reside in all day. Betts is inspired by American dishes we all know and love but reinvented with a thoughtful approach. The menu focuses on freshness, quality and whole foods put out from a predominantly scratch kitchen. It's easy to eat healthy here and it's just as easy to indulge- the menu has something for everyone.

Had a 6:30 reservation. Ordered drinks first that didn’t come out for almost an hour (it was only two beers and one cocktail). Appetizer came out before them. Ignored by server who was attentive to bigger party behind us. Food was very good but took another 45 minutes. We had someone to be so we got our check with our food because we simply couldn’t wait any longer. Will not be returning.
Food was great. Great location. Slowish service. Very loud. Dimming the lights would help tremendously. Drinks were also good.
Great food! Great staff! Highly recommend the mac & cheese!!
We had a reservation to sit inside at 6pm and by 6:15 we still weren’t seated. After watching several groups get seated outside we asked if that could be an option as we had 8 concert plans. The customer service was very poor at the start. Once seated things turned around with a fairly attentive but overly busy server. The food was pretty good but it got cold super fast being outside. Given covid and all the general decline of service, I’d give them a try again but probably not when I was in a rush!
Food was very good, service was outstanding.
Pork chops and steak were great. The sides were good. Service was a little inexperienced - but since no one can find help these days, we considered it great. Manager was attentive. Overall - solid restaurant, good food and service that fit with the price point. We will return
Great service, food was fresh and well prepared. If any constructive criticism it would be to work on your dessert menu; need to incorporate more variety and kick it up a notch.
The food was ok, menu was limited. Our server was fantastic. We used the vallet parking, it was cheaper than public parking.
Service was fantastic! Our food was absolutely delicious. No rushing and very relaxing! The braised Brussel sprouts were divine! Going back for certain
Appreciate the variety of foods on the menu and the preps all sounded good. The execution was lacking tho - the salmon was entirely too oxersauced and the veg that came on the side was odd and lukewarm.
My brunch was outstanding. The service and quality were top notch!
Terrible food, worse service.
Service and atmosphere was good. Food was just okay. We had the truffle pierogis which were awesome. The burger was good. I had a cobb salad which I liked for a salad. And the Tokyo bowl which was not good. We had a 7 year old and got the kids Mac’ and cheese but it was too fancy for her and she did not like it (it was white with Gouda cheese - good for adults but not for kids).
Food was getting good. Hubby had the red fish I had a burger and it was all very delicious! The wine was wonderful and hubby enjoyed a draft beer. We were on vacation and enjoyed Betts much more than the restaurant at our hotel.
Asha was great! Even though she was super busy, she was attentive and pleasant.
Experience was great. Understanding it was busy and probably short staffed as everyone is
Great Experience, service was outstanding and the food was great too!
The food was very creative. I had the Cider Chicken and was extremely impressed. My wife had the Schofield
Burger, and she loved it! The price was very reasonable.
What a great place to eat and drink. Staff was super fun and the menu is outstanding. 8 of us had different entrees and all of us loved them!
Overwhelmed and understaffed, our server rallied to get us our food on time and out the door in time for the game. Very worrisome but it all worked out. Betts, get this guy some support!
We wanted to sit outside due to Covid. We were told when booking that they had greenhouses and I was to confirm that one would be available. I called twice to check on this and it was confirmed there would be one. I tried to add two more people to our evening and was told that the greenhouses could only sit 6 people. So our extra guests did not join us. When we arrived and asked for the greenhouse the staff looked at us as though we were nuts - didn’t know what we were talking about. We were sitting outside on the side of the road - East 9th Street. This was fine but we may as well have been sitting in the traffic. It was so noisy at points you couldn’t hear yourself speak. Please at least make sure you know what you are offering your guests before we confirm our booking.
The food was good - waiter was good but clearly very busy. We waited quite a while for everything. In fact one of our guests didn’t have his dinner for about another 10 minutes after everyone else.
At least the servers had masks on. Nobody inside did and seating was quite close together.
Hostess was friendly upon arrival, we felt welcome from the start. Ordered drinks and food, had to request silverware. Service was good, food was good. The ambiance felt cafeteria style. Lights inside were way too bright. The table next to us asked for the outdoor lights to be turned on, this never happened. Lack of awareness of lightning and music. Terrible vibe, I’m not in a hurry to return.
Delicious Mac and cheese with Boursin and bacon, great shrimp tacos, excellent servers.
Food was decent but the service was just so bad. The waiter never came back to give us our bill. A manager I’m guessing saw me holding my card and finally just took it. Never saw an itemized bill he just ran the card. There’s better brunch spots in Cleveland to try.
Just not a good restaurant - Brussels sprouts had way too much sugar, the main bowls were flooded with sauce.
Even with the personnel issues every restaurant is facing, Betts was able to provide excellent service and food. It was a very good value. We especially enjoyed talking with Bella, the bartender!
Vegan salad was great! The vegan bowl and Brussels were great, salmon was very over cooked.
Menu is phenomenal, I think overall the food wasn’t prepared well unfortunately (mostly overcooked, took a long time to come out), though the flavor was definitely there!
Great service and really amazing food. We really enjoyed our dining experience at Betts!
Our server was really great 👍 even after making a mistake on our order
Bett’s was delicious! Went here for my girlfriend’s birthday with 4 other friends. Our waitress was great and super helpful with menu selections.
This hotel bar had a great vibe with wonderful cheeseburgers. The specialty drinks were fabulous. We enjoyed ourselves immensely as the service was spot on. Everyone there seemed to be having a fun time.
Our waiter accommodated an additional dinner attendee by placing us in private room. Very appreciative of his generosity. The drinks were so good, we stopped the next day to have them outside.
Usually they are great. Slammed in kitchen apparently. Lots of dropped balls but staff apologetic and took off a meal and tried. Just not a great night for them, especially since they just celebrated a year in business. Skip the Sunday pasta sauce.
Brunch with family. Noisy overpriced and nothing special. Good for drinks and hanging out at the bar but not worth eating there
I knew most of the service industry is struggling right now, but the service was subpar. Took over an hour to get food, drink were inconsistent and had to ask multiple times for new ones. Kind of expected more.
The service was EXTREMELY slow. It took forever to just get drinks. Which made us decide to not get food and go somewhere else.
I love Betts! Great food and location. I always get the Tokyo bowl and it’s so delicious.
We were looking for a good lunch spot downtown. Sadly, this won't be it.
The food was truly delish, unless it wasn't. Of the 3 of us, one had the Grilled Cheese and Soup - perfection. One had the Market Plate with Chicken, fries and roasted broccoli. The Chicken & fries: excellent. The Broccoli: charred on the outside, hard in the middle. I had the Market Plate with Salmon, Mac&Chs & Bacon&Blue Brussels. The Salmon: SUPERB. The mac&chs: good. I'd have it again. The Brussels: no blue in sight, hard in the middle and covered in too much vinegar.
The atmosphere: the website does a good job of making it look larger and more comfy than it really is. Expect a multi-purpose diner. Not uncomfortable, but not someplace you want to really spend time, either. And surprisingly loud. Very echo-y.
The service: The Hostess was awesome. Cheerful, on it. The server was less so. Not rude, just not *there* either. Rarely saw her throughout the meal. But what really got to us was something that happened at another table. The two guests accidentally knocked over one of their beers. It spilled all over their table and the floor by them. Not one server came to help. Multiple servers - including ours - walked by, looked at it and kept going. No one offered to wipe down their now sticky table, or the floor. They had to go fetch linen napkins from another table to handle it themselves. Even more: their server and a runner form the kitchen brought out their meals, were told about the incident, served their food over the mess on the floor and never came back to clean it up. Having served and cooked in a number of restaurants over the years, I was offended for the couple at this display of just not giving a d*mn.
The food was good. If we ever stay in the hotel for any reason, I'd eat there. But living in CLE, this wont be the place we go for lunch downtown.
Outstanding food and service. Parking was a challenge, but everything else was amazing.
