Too loud, but everything else was stellar. Awesome food quality & selection, solid service, and properly served wine.
Great food , great server
Had the pesto pasta and my friend had the Caesar salad.
We both loved everything.
The pesto was so good, I ate the whole thing!
Love Bethel Union. Great whiskey collection, homemade pasta, great flavors. Excellent service!
Food was good. carponata appetizer was too salty to enjoy. crostini could have been a little bigger and more crusty. Waitress was very nice, attentive and a little overwhelmed. it was busy.
The food was excellent and extremely reasonable. Our waitress could not have been nicer but her service was dependent on the pace of the kitchen staff, and that was severely lacking. We arrived at 6:00 pm. It took 20 minutes to get a drink and 45 minutes to get the appetizer to the table. Our entree arrived at 7:25 and we were going town 8:00 performance at the Hawaii Theater.
They knew that they had a big theater crowd that night. They should have been better prepared. I will definitely give them another chance...on an otherwise slow evening.
We had a very nice, relaxing dinner. Just what the Doctor ordered.
As always, the food was superb! This time tho, we were luckiest to be waited on by their very professional and charming bartender. He took care of every little detail to make sure that everything was at its best! Attention to detail, extremely courteous and on top of every course’ pairing ..! A delightful experience !!
We had an excellent meal at Bethel Union. The service was top notch and the food very tasty and fresh, including the homemade pasta
had lunch there. catch of the day we ordered was a little over cooked. waitress was kind enough to bring us a new entree. ordered coffee w/dessert and the coffee tasted like day old coffee.
restaurant was kind of busy w/only 2 wait staff. ours really hustled to keep everyone happy!!!
HORRIBLE! FOOD WAS POOR, SERVICE WAS WORSE AND NOISE LEVEL WAS SO LOUD YOU COULDN'T CARRY ON A CONVERSATION AT YOUR TABLE WITHOUT LITERALLY YELLING. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND OR RETURN.
Setting is cute. Unfortunately the acoustics make it very loud in the restaurant. Service was slow, portion sizes were small, even said “large plate” portions. It was a busy Friday night, so I understand the slower service. But it took over 1 hour for our food to be brought to our table. Food was okay, wouldn’t go back again.
Great place for early dinner. Very clean and quiet. Great service. We will go again!
I used to go here, when it was the old Du Vin. Now, it's air-conditioned and a more upbeat vibe. Good portions on the food side and drinks are a healthy poor as well. All in all, a nice evolution over the past two years into a seasoned, contemporary eatery and great bar! Love the staff and the attention to detail. We shall return!
Our party of two got a reservation quickly through Open Table this past Saturday night. We arrived early and were immediately seated. Service seemed a bit slow but I believe they were understaffed. The food was very good. The restaurant was approximately 2/3s full but the noise level made conversation difficult at times. Price for dinner (1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 desserts) was quite reasonable at $70. I would definitely go again.
Good food, nice people
Great prosciutto salad. Ribs pasta was delicious. The noodles had soaked up the sauce nicely. Portions are appropriately small. First time there. Liked it very much. Will be back.
Ambience was great, and the food was good, without being great. The service was very friendly, but a little inept. Love the location.
Possibly not a good nite to go. Reserved outdoor seating online, go there and it was reserved for a pairing event so we sat inside. They were obviously focused on the event, they had to "scrounge" to get a pupu plate for us (which ended up being a serving bowl). The menu online was different than in house so that changed things a bit as we knew what we had wanted ahead of going in. Staff was friendly but we definitely felt rushed to move along so they could focus on their other patrons. For 2 of us, one drink each, 2 appetizers, a salad and a main was $100. The main dish, steak with smashed caper potatoes was not good. Steak was very tough despite being med/rare and came out pretty cold. We were not impressed at all. We will not be going back-bummer because the place itself has great ambiance and the staff was pretty friendly despite being focused elsewhere.
Simple, fresh, tasty, Italian comfort food. Enjoyed my spaghetti and meatballs. Others ordered sandwiches which looked delicious.
Cute little place. Great food. The Merlot I drank was awesome. I'd go again.
Service, food, everything was delicious
After spending 2 weeks in Hawaii, our entire group was getting tired of mainly fish and steak options of most restaurants on the islands. Bethel Union’s menu was a sight for sore eyes! It was exactly what we needed. All 8 of us thought our meals were delicious. We ordered 4 different appetizers for the table to share and all were wonderful.
I'm loving the new menu. Working my way through it! I ended up having the seafood special which was delightful! We will be back!
Ate dinner before a show at Hawaii Theatre. It got pretty busy for a Friday evening. The food was just ok...most of what we ordered, I feel didn't have enough flavor. The flavors in the capellini and pappardelle pasta dishes were good but there wasn't enough sauce to provide enough flavor, and the pasta itself was tasteless, so you needed the sauce to get the flavor. The ribeye steak was tender but underseasoned. I thought the bruschetta was just ok, but my husband liked it. My house salad was good. The drinks were reasonably priced and the dishes were also fairly priced. The decor was nice although the sounds echoed - they could use a little dampening effects. Energetic noise level for sure, but the ambiance was nice. The waitstaff we had was nice as well. Food came out quickly - I was a little worried about that, based on previous reviews. Overall the experience was just ok...I wouldn't go out of my way to go back there, but I'd eat there again if in town again for another event.
The food was very good. Our wait staff was friendly and efficient. Excellent variety of beer, wine, and mixed drinks. Kevin the bartender is always our highlight of our visit. He’s always friendly and very knowledgeable of his inventory.
They’ve changed their menu for the better! Much more Italian! LOL! Had the Capellini Pesto that was just delicious! Bread is so good! Will return for dinner soon!
Very friendly with excellent service and delicious food!
Great atmosphere, drinks, food, and service. We were a party of four, and every one ordered a different entree and dessert. All of our meals were impressive. I would recommend to anyone looking for some good Mediterranean inspired food to check it out.
I was disappointed when I arrived to discover that the garden table I had reserved was not available because of a private party.
I think I should have been informed of that when I made the reservation. The garden area is very nice. The main indoor dining area can get too loud and make it difficult to have a conversation at our table.
Overall food and ambiance was great. Service was good when the server came by...too thinly staffed for lunch crowd...long stretches of wait time in between service.
Made reservations on Mother's Day. It didn't dawn on me that there would be a pre fixed menu but the selections were excellent and the food was good. Great service on a special day and I think that may have been the chef who came out to check on the patrons. Would come again for sure.
Great food and service. I loved the Octopus appetizer but the dished is no longer served!
Love the fresh pastas! And the daily specials are excellent!
And they're flexible if you don't like an ingredient - they'll do their best to accommodate.
Showed up looking for a nice date night dinner and left with a belly full of diamonds and gold!! Lol The food and cocktails were amazing! We started off with some of the best oysters I’ve had in a while. Drank very unique and delicious cocktails (try the granny-something one) and then proceeded to eat braised short ribs and pasta that surely was mixed with crack! But wait! There’s more! We almost skipped dessert but we figured we were already down the rabbit hole...might as well keep digging and it was to die for!!! The chocolate custard with fresh whipped cream ticked all of my boxes for a decadent chocolate treat which is saying something from a person who doesn’t care for chocolate that much! The atmosphere was quaint and the service was top notch! I can’t say enough good things! ::Arnold Schwarzenegger voice:: We will be back!
Great for wine. Was rushed at end as food took long time coming after order as place was full with pre-theater crowd.
the spaghetti and meatballs were very good, you can definitely tell those were homemade meatballs. the wine selection was nice and enjoyable. the service was fast and attentive. thanks
We came in before a Concert at Hawaii Theatre
The food Meatballs,Ceaser Salad, Fish,Steak, Tiramisu were all excellent
Service was a bit hectic
I had to ask the server to add a Beer on the tab that she forgot.....
We would come back again
Thank you for putting the “special” in our special day celebration! Cheers to you and the entire team!
Been here for lunch and dinner. Had a pleasant experience both times. The neighborhood is a little sketchy and a bit of a mixed bag. The discussion I had with my husband on our way down was which municipal parking lot to use so that we'd interact with the least amount of strange people on our walk over to the restaurant. Surprised that there were many open tables at prime dinner hour and hope that the neighborhood isn't the downfall of this restaurant. Food is good and sticks to your bones, ambiance is casually romantic, and service was top notch.
