Bestia Ratings and Reviews
Got a coveted reservation 1.5 months before the dinner. Got to the restaurant 10 minutes earlier but got seated after 30 minutes. Was pretty unhappy about that but what can you expect when you're going to one of the hottest restaurants in LA? With that all said, the food was AMAZING. Everything dish we had was packed with interesting flavors. Was an amazing food experience.
I came with my parents, and we sat outside on the terrace. We asked our waitress for recommendations, which she did a great job delivering: the food was delicious, as were the cocktails. The service, in particular, stood out: we asked our waitress to box our (mostly eaten) bone marrow so that we could take it home for our own. Upon hearing that, she actually gave us extra bone marrow pieces!
The quality and taste of food was similar to Cheesecake Factory. But Cheesecake is cheaper.
The presentation of the food was great.
More than half the customers got pizza and beer.
Service was amazing. Didn't live up to the hype, not worth making reservations a month in advanced when walk-ins are allowed.
Have been meaning to try this restaurant for a couple of years now, but reservations at a decent hour is very hard to come by. Needless to say, we had very high expectations. Luckily, our expectations were met.
Given the hype about this restaurant, I thought it would be more of a fine dining establishment. However, it turned out to be more of a bar/ open-kitchen restaurant with an industrial-design and a lively, casual vibe.
Given the upscale prices of the menu, we opted for only four dishes between the two of us, though I had my eye on way more dishes. We ordered the smoked chicken liver pate and the bone marrow for antipasti, and the spaghetti rustichella and the pici sugo al agnello for our main courses.
The pici sugo al agnello was our favorite dish. The lamb was tender and flavorful, without being “gamey”, the sauce was unctuous, & the fresh pasta perfectly al dente. The roasted bone marrow was a close second favorite. I’ve never had bone marrow serve as the pasta sauce before. Genius! It was rich, flavorful, and complemented the spinach gnochetti really well. We really appreciated the crispy parts of the gnochetti for texture.
I really enjoyed the spaghetti rustichella as well, though my husband didn’t enjoy it as much as I did. It did not have traditional Italian flavors - it was more Asian than Italian, which may be why I enjoyed it more than my husband. The sauce had bold enough flavors, without overpowering the delicate Dungeness crab, and the sweet Thai basil was a pleasant flavor surprise.
As delicious as the smoked liver pate was, it was our least favorite dish, only because you can get much cheaper but equally delicious pate at Westside Tavern.
Since our reservation was at a pretty late hour, I was famished that evening and had room for dessert. I ordered the coffee and donuts. It was delicious: not too sweet, perfect portion size, bold coffee flavor on the ice cream.
Overall, I really enjoyed the food and the service. It was as I had hoped.
This place is packed, given I made a reservation for a Monday night. Our reservation was not till 10pm however my friend and I took out chance and went at 730pm. The host was very accommodating and gave us options to sit in the bar which we gladly took. The bartender is very accommodating and the servers gladly explained what food their bringing in... they have extensive wine list however bummed that they don't carry Chilean wine. But the drink that the bartender made for us is very refreshing. The bone marrow is definitely highly recommended from the menu.
Service was fantastic and the food was stellar! The roasted bone marrow dish and snap peas dish were my two favorites. Definitely worth booking your reservation in advance and waiting, but we went on a weeknight right after open so it was easier to find open reservations.
As always a great place with great food. A Saturday evening was a bit much loud guests yelling at each other and standing up at their tables encroaching on my dinner tables space. Not a fault from the restaurant but more in the tacky classless people there to celebrate.
But the god and service were SUPERB
Food was outstanding as always. Everything here tastes amazing. However after dropping $1000 on dinner with our friends we were shocked when we were told to leave bc the next reservation needs our table. Seriously, no lingering conversations allowed here. Eat your delicious food and then move on!! It was so rude.
From start to finish it was an amazing experience, we were greeted warmly by the host as soon as we arrived and we were seated quickly (we did have a reservation). Our server was by our side in moments getting us water and explaining the menu. The food was to die for, everything we ordered was mouth watering good. I never felt like I was being up-sold. The ambience is trendy and hip and we really enjoyed ourselves. Would recommend!
I will say the service and ambience were great. We sat outside as to avoid the heightened noise level inside the restaurant. I was disappointed in the food. I had high expectations from this place. The best thing we ordered was the snap peas and burrata. We also got the calamari and faro salad (pretty good) and the kale pizza (a bit of a soggy crust on the bottom) and very al dente spaghetti. Maybe the food was just too rich because we all left feeling a little "off".
Wonderful experience to celebrate two birthdays. Server was super knowledgeable in describing the dishes and even made suggestions of off the menu drinks. After leaving the restaurant, they called to inform we left a wallet and would hold in manager’s office safety box for pickup whenever convenient for us. Great service and food! No wonder Bestia remains one of the best restaurants in LA after all these years.
Each dish was perfect, portions were just right, the menu varied & exciting, and the service friendly, attentive and efficient. If you're going to pay restaurant prices for a good bottle of wine, this is the place because the sommelier is as accommodating as he is knowledgeable. An expensive restaurant, to be sure, but worth every penny (and not nearly as expensive as many in this area and of this class). Do not pass up the zabaglione with blood-orange sorbet for dessert - lighter and creamier than any zabaglione you've ever tasted!
Food was delicious, overall service was good. I wish they would-be have told us what they were out of when giving us the menus. Instead of when I was trying to place an order only to be told everything I wanted, they were out of ( mussels, pork belly and lamb).
